Get to Know You #1!

Hello, Friends! I’ve decided that I’d like to get to know you better so I will periodically post questions, and if you are so inclined, you can answer them in the comments below! This could be fun!

Here is the first set of questions. I hope you will have fun participating!

1. Would you rather ride a bike, ride a horse, or drive a car?
2. What would you sing at Karaoke night?
3. Have you ever had a nickname? What is it?
4. What’s your favorite season?
5. If you had a warning label, what would yours say?

Thank you so much for reading, liking, lurking, and commenting! I can’t wait to get to know you better!

  1. A bike
Not a karaoke fan, but I would never sing Last Train to Clarksville ever, ever, ever again
Goldilocks. I know, right? Hard to believe with my current hair style.
Autumn has always been the best time for me and my honey.
    Caution. Contents under pressure.

    Happy Friday Kymber. Allan

  2. How did I miss these?! I’ve been gone too long. ^^;

I’m more of a walker, really.
What would you sing at Karaoke night?
I’ve had several over my life: AA, Fluffy, AJ. I tend to go by the last more recently.
All the seasons are pretty great in their own right, but I think I’ve got a particular soft spot for winter. It’s got a more subdued beauty to it.
    WARNING: Contains math. XD

  3. I used to go horse riding when I was younger, but I would rather drive my car
Unfortunately I can’t sing. If I was to sing in a karaoke night, the audience would need ear plug!
In my class there was a tall girl named Sue and I was tiny so I was nicknamed little Sue.
I love summer time wearing pretty dresses.
If I had a warning label on me I’d say Be kind to me I get upset easily.

    • Hi, Sue! 🙂 I love your answers. Awww I love how you were called Little Sue. That’s a good reason to love summer, isn’t it? 🤍🌺 I also think that’s a great warning label, too.

  4. Walk…
cannot sing but I do listen….
    Dutch…
do not have a favorite season because “Yesterday is a memory, tomorrow remains a mystery, today is a new adventure. Greet it with open arms, a open heart, a open mind and a smile. Enjoy it because it won’t come again.” (Larry “Dutch“ Woller ) …
to quote Popeye the sailor; ” I yam what I yam and that is all that I yam”… 🙂

Hope all is well in your part of the universe and until we meet again…
    May your day be touched
by a bit of Irish luck,
    Brightened by a song
    in your heart,
    And warmed by the smiles
    of people you love.
    (Irish Saying)

    • Thank you for playing, Dutch!

Walking is an excellent choice! How much more you must see and notice because you’re walking.
I like what you said about not having a favorite season. Mine is Autumn, but usually, I just say baseball season! lol

I hope all is well in your part of the world, and that you’re having a lovely weekend. 🤍🌺

  5. Ooo I love posts like this!

Car (don’t trust riding a bike on our roads, and I love horses so I wouldn’t want to upset one by riding it as I can’t imagine they find it fun having a human sat on their back)
Hmmm so many choices! All Star by Smashmouth
    Caz
Summer!!! A proper summer, that is. It seems to have skipped past the UK this year
    OUT OF ORDER!

    • Hi there, Caz! Thank you so much for playing!

I know what you mean about upsetting the horse. I think if I had a horse, I actually wouldn’t ride him/her (even though my answer to that question was horse). lol

I love All Star! Great, fun choice!

Our summer has been dreadfully hot and full of severe storms. At least, lately. Although, I’ve noticed today it is much milder out.

Out of order! That is a great one! I feel that applies to me, too. LOL 😀

  6. Such a fun idea! I love things like this. 🙂 Get ready for a long one; I’ve been known to get diarrhea of the fingers. LOLOLOL!!!

Ah, I’d give my eye teeth to be able to drive a car. Sadly, my eyesight is atrocious to say the least (I’m what’s called legally blind/visually impaired) so that is out, out, and out. Horses rae beautiful but they kinda intimidate me. Their kick is dangerous, their size can be huge, and those teeth – yeah, ouch! I used to love riding my bike (we did that all the time as kids) but my bad knees can’t take it anymore. So I’m relegated to either hoofing it or getting the hubs to be my cabbie. I guess that’s not all bad because I can plug in my AirPods and listen to Audiobooks. 🙂 Besides that, nobody will ask me to be a designated driver so I can drink as much as I want. 😀 😀 😀
Ohhh boy, this one’s a tough one. 😀 I’m totally in my element at Karaoke night – vocalist/classically trained singer. I think it depends on the mood I’m in. Here’s a few I gravitate to for different genres and ones I feel show off my vocal talents. 🙂
    A. I Dreamed a Dream – Les Miserables
    B. Memory – Cats
    C. Angel Baby – Rosie & the Originals (I love me my Oldies)
    D. I Look to You – Whitney Houston
    E. I Don’t Wanna Cry – Mariah Carey
    F. Only Time – Enya (just because I love that one)
    G. My Guy – Mary Wells (haha, more Oldies)
    H. Jolene – Dolly Parton
    I. Yellow Submarine – Beatles (that one is just fun and has me grinning the whole time)
    J. Alone – Heart (Ah, love exercising that lung power!)
    K. The Power of Love – Celine Dion/Jennifer Rush (those power ballads are my jam!)
    L. I Drove All Night – Celine Dion (yep, that lung power again)
    M. Total Eclipse of the Heart – Bonnie Tyler (Ah, those power ballads!)
    N. It’s All Coming Back to Me – Celine Dion (hehe, need I say more?)
    O. My Heart Will Go On – Titanic
    P. Strange Magic – ELO (that one is just cool!)
    Q. Anything by Olivia Newton-John (she was my idol growing up. I always felt that if I could sing half as pretty as she could, I’d be one happy woman!)
    R. Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again – Phantom of the Opera (I always dreamed of playing Christine. sigh I actually fulfilled an item on my bucket list with this song when I got to sing it at the Opera House in Sydney, Australia.) 🙂
    S. O Sing, Sweet Nightingale – Cinderella (very much a signature song for me)
Yeah, okay, so this was much more than you asked for but narrowing it down to just one is impossible.
The first one I ever had was Nise, pronounced NEE-see. There were three of us in the family with the same first name so we had to figure out a way to differentiate us. My middle name is Denise so Nise is the last four letters of that. It kinda faded away over the years but over the last year or so, I’ve decided to reinstate it because I like it. 🙂 So now, that’s how I introduce and refer to myself as. Then when my younger sisters were born, Dad started calling me Sissy, and that one stuck. 😀 But it’s just pretty much my Mom (my Dad is gone now, sadly) and sisters who call me that.
Spring/very early Summer. I HATE winters and the cold. It just makes me ache all the way to my bones. The major heat I just can’t take anymore; it gets harder as I get older, and my asthma doesn’t like either extreme. My ideal season is the temperature being in the mid 70’s with sunshine and a slight breeze. For me, it’s great shorts weather (I really don’t care for long pants or long sleeves), and that’s exactly how I like it and would love it year round. Yep, I’m boring and am one of those who can forgo the seasonal changes. No bugs, you don’t sweat very much in that kind of weather unless you’re exercising or whatever, no bugs, perfect temperature, no bugs, I can wear comfortable clothing, no bugs, chirping birdies can be heard and I love it, and of course, NO BUGS.
I think two could apply here.
    A. WARNING: No noise and absolutely NO talking before I’ve had TWO cups of coffee
    OR
    B. WARNING: Highly explosive! Contagious, uncontrollable laughter inside. 😀 You can watch this video, and you’ll know I’m not lyin’. LOLOLOL!!!!
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4jSH1nO3R4o

    • Hiya, Nise! Great to see you!

Girl, I could listen to you sing all the day long! 😀 🤍🌺 I would have a hard time narrowing it down to one song, too. lol
I like your nickname, too. As you know, I’m Mimi because that’s what the Littles call me. 😀
I could go for those temperatures, too. Unfortunately, I live in the wrong place! Our winters are long and super cold.
And I definitely hear you about NO BUGS!!! I feel the same way! haha
      I love your warnings, too.

And thank you for the link!

      • Awwww, thank you so much! 😀💖 I remember when we were chatting and I sent you the file of my singing. I’m so, so glad you loved it. 🙂

Yay!! It always makes me smile when folks remember to call me Nise. Old habits kinda die hard – I should’ve reinstated the thing when i was younger but better late than never. LOLOL!!! It’s funny. Mimi seems to have become quite in vogue when it comes to Grandma names. I have a friend whose littles call her Gaga. It happened because the first grandson couldn’t say Grandma, so it was Gaga from day #1 and she loves it. 🙂 I don’t blame her. It’s totally adorable.

Oh yeah! Narrowing down one song to sing is impossible. Heck, I’d sing the whole entire night if they’d let me. 😀

Yeah, same here for Winters for us. They seem to be getting worse and worse by the year. Either that or I’m just getting older and crankier about it. LOL! I won’t deny that’s a possibility, but I still say they’re getting worse by the year.

Ah yeah, bugs…ugh! I do like butterflies and fireflies though but everything else can cheerfully go. LOL!!

Hehe!! So glad you loved m warnings. And you’re welcome for the link. I probably should’ve warned you to pee first before you watch it. LOLOLOL!!!

        • That’s how Mimi came about, too. It was a distortion of Lilly trying to say Grammy. LOL

Maybe if they heard you, they’d let you sing all night, no problem. lol

          Too late! LOLOL

  7. 🙂 🙂 🙂 Fun!!!

    drive a car
I’d sing Mercy Me by Marvin Gaye, which me and my girlfriend did back in the day and had the entire bar cheering! Lol
    Nickname is Ellie or Babes
I’m a spring baby; I come to life in the spring!
Beware, my mouth has been known to cut deep if you take me there ( 🙁 not cool!)

  8. Let me drive a car like the 1957 Chevy I once owned.
I’d love to sing Mack the Knife made famous by Bobby Darin.
I hated “Mikie” as a nickname when I was a kid growing up in Philadelphia.
Spring has always been my favorite season but April has truly been the “Cruelest” month in my book.
I meditate because I gotta keep my PTSD under control from the Vietnam War.

  9. I’m actually not sure. I think it might be because I had a cookie addiction when I was little 🤷🏻‍♀️ or because they used to also call me cookoos which is sort of slang for crazy LOL
My cousin called me Finny because my real name is Stephanie so phanie part became Finny and also I’m Pisces so the fish fins lol I was a water baby through and through!

  10. Would you rather ride a bike, ride a horse, or drive a car? … all 3, it would all depend on where I’m at, what I’m doing, and where I needed to be later.
What would you sing at Karaoke night? My go to is ‘Friends in Low Places’; primarily because I can keep the pace of the song with out torturing it to badly … that said I’m audience for a reason, but will happily sing along to the radio when there’s no audience.
Have you ever had a nickname? What is it? Several, which one would you like? ;p Simplest with no long back story, Dawn.
    What’s your favorite season? Summer
If you had a warning label, what would yours say? Adult content – Not suitable for all audiences – might kill with kindness and sarcasm

    • Hiya, Mama Dragon! Love your answers!

All 3 is a terrific answer! There are reasons for wanting each.

I will always know you as Mama Dragon, if that is all right. 🤍🌺🤍🌺

I love your warning labels! Very clever!

  11. I would rather a car, you can put more stuff in it.
. . .If it’s by myself I would try to practice BTS songs if in public, probably Randy Newman’s song from the opening theme song of the TV show Monk, “It’s a Jungle Out There.”
My Mom refers to me as BB or “Bookie” and my sister just Bee. Once back when I lived with my relatives, they and the neighbors would endearingly refer to me as “rattie” because I was thin, maybe like a rat to them I dunno.
Winter and spring. It’s cold in winter, there are less bugs and it rains in spring. I love rain, it’s such a mood and I love writing or sleeping on such days.
Warning: Don’t get in my business, don’t act like you know me.

    • Hi, Pearl! Great to see you! 🤍🌺

I love the show Monk. One of my saddest television days was when it ended. And the song by Randy Newman is tops.

I like winter for the lack of bugs, too. That’s the only part of Spring that grosses me out. lol And rain is so soothing. I like reading, writing or sleeping on those days, too.

  12. This is a fun idea, Kymber. You’re not only getting to know us better, but it makes us get to know ourselves, too! So, here goes:
First answer is a horse! My first riding experience was at 4 on an uncle’s huge workhorse and that was it. I haven’t really stopped riding since.
I think no one who knows me would encourage me to sing, but Bruce Springsteen’s ‘On a Sunny Day’ would definitely get me up on stage!
Never ever a nickname, when you’re called Jill you can’t really shorten it…
My favorite season is fall, when the air becomes crystalline and you can wear knitted sweaters with no jacket on, have hot chocolate on the patio, and take long walks just admiring the colors. And of course, riding out early in the morning mist with a horse that is prancing and ready to go!
Warning label? Handle With Care but not in the fragile sense!

    • I’m so glad you like this idea, Jill. You know, Leo in Gen 2 called his sister Jilly “Jillybean.” LOL 😀

My fav season is Fall, too, for the same reasons you listed. I can’t wait for Autumn this year.

      LOL Love your warning label!

  13. Would you rather ride a bike, ride a horse, or drive a car? (Car, we have dogs)
What would you sing at Karaoke night? (Absolutely no idea!)
Have you ever had a nickname? What is it? (Hasi/little rabbit and Bridg)
    What’s your favorite season? (Winter)
If you had a warning label, what would yours say? (It’s complicated)

  14. Hmm, first choice would be passenger on a road trip with friends, cuz that’s a blast. But if I have to be at least mildly “in charge” of the vehicle, I’ll choose horse. An old, chill horse who’s just happy to mosey along with someone petting his appaloosa hide. We’re going nowhere fast. LOL
Oof, not sure anyone wants me to sing. Ha! Well, if you’re happy enough to overlook my unashamed lack of tune, I’ll just choose my current earworm: “Better Than You” by Caroline Kay.
Not in many moons, but in high school, I had friends who called me Bean. As in jumping bean. I had much energy.
Autumn, for sure, far and away. If I could have 1 week of winter (enough for the first “magical” snow), a week of spring (aw, stuff is blooming!), and like 2 weeks of summer (good enough for some trips to the pool), I’d be down for the other 48 weeks of the year to be fall. All crisp weather, bright leaves, hoodies and hayrides and harvestime and all the wonderful things.
CAUTION: Will overthink this interaction later

    • Snazzle, my friend! Great to see you! xo

I love being passenger on road trips, too. They are the best! Sometimes my husband and I look at each other and we both say at the say time, “Road trip!” lol

We could be chums as we hit the road, you on your Appaloosa, and me on my Palomino. 🤍🌺

      Bean is a cute nickname.

Autumn is my favorite, too. I like snow at Christmastime and that is it.

OMG, I know what you mean because I am someone who overthinks absolutely everything. lol

  15. For me

Would you rather ride a bike, ride a horse, or drive a car? bike for enjoyment, car to go long distances
What would you sing at Karaoke night? Not likely but I have done it
Have you ever had a nickname? What is it? Tumpe, in Swedish middle school
    What’s your favorite season? spring
If you had a warning label, what would yours say? nerd alert or beer nerd

    • Hello, Thomas! I am so tickled you played! Thank you!

What does Tumpe mean, or should I do some homework and figure it out myself? 😀 Were they being mean or nice?
Spring is so beautiful, for sure.
Hahahaha I think nerd alert and beer nerd are hilarious! I love it!

  16. I like this.
    1. Drive. I average 100 miles per day so it gives me the chance to listen to a lot of audiobooks.
    2. Frank Sinatra: Fly me to the Moon
    3. Gorilla
    4. Spring. I used to take them as they come, but now I can say Spring without hesitation. So many birds where I live, I love them.
    5. Warning: Rapid mood swings

    • Hi, Gorilla! Great to see you! Thank you for playing!

100 miles/day! Whew! But that’s a lot. But that would be nice to listen to audiobooks.
We have an Ol’ Blue Eyes fan! I love it and I love that song, too!
I can see why you love Spring, and I don’t blame you there. Sounds wonderful!
We have the same warning label! LOLOLOL

  17. Okay, here we go young Lady…
    I’ll drive
I did sing at karaoke Forget Him by Bobby Rydell
The only nickname I ever had was “Conigs” which is part of my last name
I love the summer. No such thing as too hot.
My warning abel would be, Just asleep. Don’t be alarmed.
    Now you…
When you write, is it based on experience or imagination
What do you think every person needs most
If you had the chance, would you be 17 again
If you could pick any car in the world, what would it be
    Finally,
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live and why.

    • Hi there, JC! Good to see you! Love your answers, especially your warning label which had me giggling.

Oh for me? Here we go then!
Much of my writing is based on experience, but some is not. I usually don’t like to say which is which.
I think what most people need is compassion and to be met where they are.
Yes! I would love to be 17 again, although, I can’t complain about where I am in life either.
Hmmm….. I would definitely pick a 1970 cherry red Chevelle. I like old GTO’s, too, though.
Well, I live where I do because I am close to family. And I love it here because the Autumns are fantastic.

Thanks for your questions! I enjoyed them. 😀

  18. Would you rather ride a bike, ride a horse, or drive a car? Car.
What would you sing at Karaoke night? When the beer kicked in.
Have you ever had a nickname? What is it? Coyote
What’s your favorite season? The Fall.
If you had a warning label, what would yours say? Leave me alone, unless you have something nice to say to me.

    • Hello, John, my friend! Great answers! Love the song you chose! lol And I’ve always loved your nickname of Coyote. Autumn is my favorite (even though I’ve been saying baseball season) LOL.

  19. I do drive a car, but I would like to go back to old times and ride a horse. When I was little I so wished I could have riding lessons,
but we never could afford that. But as a young woman I saved some money and could fullfill my dream at least a while.
“You’re in my heart” – “Rock of ages” is one of my favorites too. I’m often singing in the kitchen or in my car.
My name is Doris, my people call me “Dorle” since childhood.
Summer, sunshine, water. But I like winters with lots of snow too.
In northern Germany, where I live there are often cloudy and rainy days.
My heart is where my mouth is. 🤭

    • Yessssssss, me, too, about the horse!

I sing in the car, the kitchen and the shower. At the top of my lungs! LOLOL

I love “Dorie.” Such a sweet name for a sweet person.

  20. A bike, although for me, you’d have to allow me to say “adult tricycle”
“All the Things You Are,” “The Way You Look Tonight,” “Some Enchanted Evening,” and/or “Just the Way You Are.”
When I was a copy editor for my college campus’ student paper, my nickname was “The Blue Slasher” (because I carried a non-photo blue pen to indicate errors that needed to be corrected before sending the “galleys” to the printers.)
4.In Florida we only have two seasons: the “wet” and “dry” seasons. I prefer the dry.
    “Still Waters Run Deep.”

  21. Fun exercise! 😀 I’ll play…
    1. Car – I’m lazy
    2. As Tears Go By (Marianne Faithfull version) OR Volare (in Italian!) – I used to want to be a singer and both were in my repertoire
    3. The Doglady (one word – creative licence)
    4. Summer!
    5. Don’t bullshit me!

    • Hiya, Debbie Doglady! I’m so glad you’re here! 🤍🌺

I laughed when you said you were lazy. I’d pick a horse. 😀 I guess that means I wouldn’t ever be traveling too far.

I would looooove to hear you sing those songs! 🤍🌺🤍🌺

  22. Oops, wasn’t finished!
    3. My name is Kimberly but my friends call me Kim. When I was in Korea, they called me scoche because I’m so small.
    4. It used to be summer, but as I age, I’m thinking spring is my new favorite 🤩
    5. “Don’t wake the bear!”

  23. Definitely a horse, I hate driving and a horse is faster than a bike (and has less pedaling)
    Bitch by Meredith Brooks
My parents call me Cooks, my cousin calls me Finny and my friends call me Stephie
    Winter
    Proceed with caution
