Grief can sneak up on you
It can come at you from out of the blue
A song comes on the radio
And suddenly the tears will flow
You’ll have a memory
And suddenly
You’ll wish that person was right there
So you could have another moment to share
You’d give anything to hear their voice
But, alas, you weren’t given a choice
So, you let the tears flow
As onto the memories you tightly hold

Having just attended my 98 year old aunt’s funeral yesterday, this touching post hit home. However, I chose to celebrate Lily with beautiful memories of our times together while she was here and my gratitude for having her in my life. As they say, grief is for the griever not the one lost.
So well done. I actually looked next to me at the one who’s not there, to ask if he read that while I was reading. Thank you so much, both of you! Excellent poetry.
Thank you, Ali, for your kind words. It sounds like it really resonated with you. Wishing you the best.
This definitely made my heart pang, longing to hear their voice, alas, not given a choice. So hard when it is out of our control 🙏
Oh, Laura, I can tell this resonates with you. Sending you big hugs.
💕 🤗 thank you, Kymber 🙏
