The Cardinal and Grandma

My Grandma loved cardinals.
Their bright color, their boldness,
memories warmed
by a Christmas fire.

Cardinals now adorn
my Christmas tree,
little ceramic birds,
echoing that vibrant red flash.

A reminder of warmth,
of her smile,
a red thread woven
through the winter chill.

IKR? So, I’m working with the developer to fix some problems with his theme. Hopefully, everything will be working again soon.

After my brother-in-law Jim passed away, I saw an image of cardinals online with the message which read: “When cardinals appear, angels are near.” Every time I see a cardinal now, I think of Jim. ❤️

I keep black oil sunflower seeds. If there are any cardinals around , they’ll show up for that treat.

We have a pair of cardinals come by every morning and every evening. They insist on breakfast and dinner and I get ‘the look’ if the feeders are empty.

Kymber Hawke January 5, 2025 - 12:42 pm

LOL I can only imagine “the LOOK.” haha Yours must be the best bird restaurant in town! 😀

Very good! We occasionally will see a cardinal here, and we get all excited when we do, since it’s so seldom. 🙂

I love this. Some cardinals nested in a rosebush in my flower bed in a rosebush 18 inches off the gound. When the babies were 11 days old , Mom and Dad coaxed them off the nest over ti a low growing bush where they clambered up, I suppose to a new home. I was so surprised. I looked it up and that was business as usual. Thankfully, I don’t have cats or they’d have been gobbled right up. I have a lot of cardinals, so I’m happy!
