A colorful graphic featuring two cartoon cats, one orange and one black, on a grassy hill with flowers and a blue sky. The text reads 'Friendly Fill-Ins' and mentions 'Hosted by Four-Legged Furballs & 15andmeowing'.

Each Thursday Ellen of 15andmeowing and Lorianne of Four-Legged Furballs, provide Friendly Fill-in questions.

Here are this week’s questions:
1. The longest I have been without electricity is _______________.
2. I am so tired of waiting for _____________________.
3. I can’t believe I still remember _________.
4. I wish I could go back and experience _________ for the first time again.

Here are my answers:
1. … for six days several years ago, when we had a terrible snowstorm. We were very cold.
2. … Spring! I don’t think that will be a surprise to anyone. lol
3. … when Elvis died. I was seven years old, and my dad read the newspaper to me about it. I was one disappointed little girl.
4. … seeing U2 for the first time again. There was nothing that compares to that.

This was fun!

Thank you for participating in the fill-ins, great answers. I was 8 when Elvis died. U2 must have been amazing to see.

Mom has never been without electricity for more than a few hours thankfully! She also saw U2 in August of 1982 right before she left for college 🙂

Wow, these are some deep questions. Let’s see what I can come up with.

. . . roughly 36 hours. The horrible Texas power grid failed during a winter storm. We were among the “lucky” ones. Many were without power even longer. It cost us over $1000 in pool equipment repairs. Fortunately, no pipes burst, and our house never got below 50 degrees!
. . . my wife to not hurt anymore. It seems like something is always hurting, and this hip replacement has been really tough. I love her so much, and it hurts me to see her in such pain.
. . . anything. LOL! But seriously . . . JFK’s assassination. I was five. My parents and I moved to a new house that day. All I really remember is coming out of my room at the old house and my mother sitting in the living room crying, listening to the radio.
. . . . I’m having to think really hard on this one. My initial thoughts are very private. But there are two books that I wish I could read for the first time again. The Hammer of God, by Bo Giertz, and The Night Circus, by Erin Morgenstern. Wouldn’t it be nice if we could intentionally lose a memory? How cool would it be to read a book again, that really blew your mind, for the first time? I just re-read The Hammer of God. It’s still a wonderful book, but it will never have that impact on me again.

Oh, on number one (and I don’t know where my numbers went?) I forgot to mention that it was 2021. We called it “Snovid 21.”

Snovid 21. LOLOL Now, that, my friend, is clever. 💗🌺

Sorry about your pool equipment, but glad your house didn’t go below 50.

My mom was in high school when that happened and she said girls had to be escorted in the hallways because there were so many tears.

That would definitely be very cool!

about 4 hours, while on vacation during a wind storm
Spring
Events from my Grade 1 & 2 one room schoolhouse
Seeing Mark Knopfler in concert on his Kill to Get Crimson tour. I could do without the opening act, though.

Happy Friday Kymber. Allan

There was only one time when I thought the opening act was super amazing and that was when Johnny Clegg and Savuka opened for Tom Waits.

In South Africa, there are power shortages so areas can have no power for quite long periods. We have a generator and gas so we aren’t impacted by power outages. I feel like I’m always waiting for something but that’s what makes life interesting. I still remember Lady Diana and Price Charles’ wedding. It was an incredible event for me. I don’t remember how old I was at the time. I have wonderful memories of my wedding day and the birth of my sons.

I think I would have to get a generator, too. I’m glad you have one.

Oh Charles’ and Di’s wedding! I was 10, I think and I thought her dress was the prettiest thing I’d ever seen. lol

That’s lovely, Robbie. 💗🌺

We are so spoiled and I am so cold-intolerant that half a day in the 2021 snowpocolypse felt like a lifetime in Ft Worth, Tx.
Relief of my pain.
Walking to the dime store for candy every Friday when we got our allowance.
I wish I could go back and experience my wedding day again. Even that day it felt hazy and surreal.
But U2 was fabulous but for my Pink Floyd is the one I still talk about.

I hope you get relief from your pain soon, my friend.

I remember walking to the dime store for that very reason! Fun times!

Pink Floyd is awesome!

U2 rocks! The longest time without electricity must be when I was growing up in Michigan, I don’t remember… 😂

Kymber @booomcha March 20, 2026 - 12:43 pm

Hi, John! They sure do!

I’m sure it was in Michigan. Seems like the power goes out so easily. 😀 lol
