Here are my answers:
These were hard for me, and I’ll probably change my mind, but… here they are!
- When I was about 7, we took a family vacation to Kentucky and Tennessee. In Gatlinburg, we played minigolf on the side of a mountain. My dad kept telling me I needed to hit the ball a little harder. Finally, I hauled off and swung! And that ball flew off the mountain to I don’t know where. LOL
- Honesty. And loyalty. I couldn’t do just one.
- I have their moral compass; I’d like to keep that. I would get rid of my redheaded temper. lol

Oh, man, I totally missed this one. Here are my answers:
1. My parents took me to many baseball games. We lived within a couple of hours of Arlington, TX, and there was a minor league team that played where the Texas Rangers play, now. I got to see quite a few games, and then the Rangers came, so we saw a lot of their games, too.
2. To me, the characteristic that I appreciate most is lack of judgment. Honesty and loyalty are certainly important, but I have gotten to be good friends with one of my pastors, and I feel like I can talk to her about anything. When I’m in her office, I’m in a totally safe space.
3. The thing that I got from my parents that I definitely want to keep is musical talent. The thing I wish I could get rid of is my tendency to worry about things. (I could do without the redheaded temper, too, friend. LOL!)

That sounds like so much fun, going to ballgames with your family. I grew us a diehard Tigers fan, so I know how fun it is to go with your family to the games.
I think you make a good point about lack of judgment. It’s important. I’m glad you have a friend you can speak to and feel comfortable.

What is the most memorable activity you did with your family as a child?
Taking the boat out on the lake to test the life vests. It was so fun to be thrown off the boat by our dad just to pop up again. Don’t worry, we swam like fish since we were very little.
What quality do you appreciate most in a friend?
Honesty. You must be able to trust your friend.
What is one characteristic you received from your parents you want to keep and one you wish you could change?
Kindness and empathy from my mother are two characteristics I want to keep, but the cynical, sometimes cruel trait I inherited from my father is most definitely something I am working on to get rid of.

I often wonder if any of my earliest memories are truly mine, or put there from pictures.
I have yet to see that red headed temper. I hope I never do. I wonder what could be a scenario where that would emerge, simply because you are too soft hearted to ever be mean or forceful. Is it like once a decade? LOL I hope it I never see or even more, that it is never directed at me. Cause I’m difficult, but you know I know that. Good thing between us, is our moral compass walks us in the same direction.
I know what you mean. I swear I remember bits of a vacation we took when I was 2 years old, but I’ve seen pictures, too. So, that could be.
LOL Actually, the temper very rarely shows. LOL Once a decade! Perhaps. 😀

I like your answers very much!
1. We took many trips (all in Cuba, as people were not allowed to leave the country without a lot of paperwork). My favorite was Pasacaballos in the Cienfuegos province
2. Reliability. A sense of humor too.
3. I think I am reliable (that is why I expect others to be as well.) I wish I were less concerned with appearances. I try to, but it is still there.

What is the most memorable activity you did with your family as a child?
We didn’t travel much when I was little, but holiday dinners were memorable, as well as driving to my grandfather body shop to help clean up. It was so boring at times, but I look back fondly.
What quality do you appreciate most in a friend?
I like to admire my friends. When I was younger I chose friends who would shake my life up, but now I much prefer softer company.
What is one characteristic you received from your parents you want to keep and one you wish you could change?
Keep? Hm. I’m not sure. The things I loved when young changed over time, but I’ll say a certain kind of hospitality that was normal when i was little, what they would have deemed ‘godly’ people.
I’m so freaking stubborn. I’m a lot more quiet-stubborn than anyone else in the family, and in fact someone may never know that I stopped seeking to be closer, but stubborn nonetheless.

I like your answers, Kymber — and that’s a funny story about you showing your strength in mini golf! Here are my answers:
— Holiday gatherings. My mom is one of five kids, so holiday gatherings had lots of cousins and fun and great food.
— Kindness
— I’d keep my artistic interests, and change my parents’ hesitancy to talk about emotions. I’ve gotten much better at that as I’ve gotten older.

What is the most memorable activity you did with your family as a child? I don’t have many, but I remember very well the times my mom took me to eat personal-sized pizzas for my birthday.
What quality do you appreciate most in a friend? Sincerity.
What is one characteristic you received from your parents you want to keep and one you wish you could change? From my mother: patience.
Change: the inability to discuss real family matters. I’m much better than my family at doing that, but it took a lot of work.
That is so nice, getting personal pizzas for your birthday.
Sincerity is very important.

The mini golf story is so funny. I remember seeing a mini golf court at Vlieland, the island we used to go on camping trips to, but I never played it.

Hey Kymber! Thought I’d drop over here today and get my mind off of stuff.
Let’s see… My mom was enamored with the Pennsylvania Amish communities in Lancaster, so we often took weekend trips to PA during the summer. I have a photo of me milking a plastic cow in the most hideous homemade polyester plaid pants, stooped over and smiling like an idiot. My brother, like a smart kid, was nowhere to be found during that humiliation.
I’m with you on the honesty and loyalty in a friend. My best friend has both of those qualities. We’re in our forty-first year of friendship!
I’m a carer by nature. I’m pretty certain that came from my mom, and I’d love to hang onto that. And though I don’t have red hair (that doesn’t come from a bottle, anyway!) I have my daddy’s Italian temper; it’s long, but when it hits, you don’t want to be near me. It’s not pretty.
