This is in response to This Week’s Writer’s Workshop Prompts – August 6, 2026, hosted by John Holton.
I chose option #3: Share something that made you laugh this week.
Order Arrived from an Unlikely Source
I spent the whole day at my daughter Katy’s house wrangling her three kids, all under six, plus their very enthusiastic dog and their loud, animated parrot. The two older girls eventually got into a heated argument, the kind only siblings can have, full of dramatic sighs and very important opinions. Before either of them could push it any further, three‑year‑old Jo Jo marched right between them. He held up his hand like a tiny traffic cop and said, “Let me handle this.” He has never said that before. His confidence and seriousness caught me off guard, and I laughed because he truly believed he was about to broker peace like a miniature diplomat. It was the funniest moment of the day and maybe the week.

That’s a really delightful story – thank you for sharing it with us. Quick question, did he? Broker a peace? Oooh, 2 questions – did the girls laugh too? xx
