Hello and happy timezones, kind friends! This is a prompt by Di at Pensitivity and it looks like fun, so I’m going to give it a go!
You can join in the fun here: Share Your World!
Here are the Questions:
1. Can you remember your first date?
2. Did you belong to a youth club or similar in your teens?
3. Can you roller skate?
4. What did you have for breakfast this morning?
Here are my answers:
- It wasn’t good. We went to Burger King and during the meal, I sneaked away to a payphone, called my dad and had him pick me up. lol That poor boy.
- Yes, I belonged to Youth Group.
- Oh, yes. My friends and I went roller skating every Thursday at World of Wheels, and it was a blast.
- Tomato juice. I didn’t feel like anything else.

Thank you, Di, for this great group of questions! This was fun!

Poor guy indeed. I guess that was when BK combos were like $2.99, so if that’s the case, I don’t feel too bad for the guy. 😂
I don’t know if this this counts as a date, but it’s my favourite. We were sitting on the stoep at my little fiend’s home in Northern Rhodesia in the1950s. Two little eight-year-olds. While holding hands, she leaned over and kissed me. I’ve never been the same since. 2. I was a boy scout who experienced some amazing adventures under the African sun. 3. Sadly, no. 4. A freshly made bowl of mixed fruit and cereal (I have an angel for a wife, who loves me.)
Another favourite post of yours that I enjoy – Thank you Kymber, keep up the great work.
Okay that Burger King escape… I actually laughed 😄 calling your dad mid-date is bold.
Also roller skating every Thursday? that sounds like a whole vibe, not just a phase.
You write these like you’re just talking and somehow it pulls you right in.
Now I’m curious what’s the story behind that “poor boy” 😄
Happy timezones, my friend!
1) Yes, I do! I was in junior high, and my parents drove us to see a movie. Heck if I remember the movie! But it was also my first kiss. Years later, I have connected with the person on Facebook, and we are good friends. 💜
2) Not really. I keep hearing that there was a teen club close to the movie theater, downtown, but the closest I came to that was my church youth group. And, of course, the high school band. I mean, that was a club all its own.
3) Sort of? I haven’t tried in years. I’m dangerous, though, because I tend to flail my arms when I’m losing my balance, which results in me hitting people in the face.
4) I don’t usually eat breakfast, these days. But since “breakfast” is technically the first thing you eat after an eight-hour “fast,” I had Blackened Chicken, an HEB Meal Simple meal, for “breakfast” (lunch, really).
Thanks for joining in Kymber.
Thank you, Di, for creating the challenge. It’s so much fun!
You’re welcome.
My friends and I loved to roller skate at the Rolladium in Waterford every Friday night! We had our own speed skates and got booted out once or twice for going too fast. A serious crime! 🤭😂 Great days, great memories…
That sounds like so much fun! I love that! I’ve been roller skating at the Rolladium and it’s so much fun. World of Wheels is in Ann Arbor where I lived when I was in middle school. We used to eat at Chi-Chi’s first, then head over to WoW. I love hearing about your memories. 🙂 Oh, and I was given a warning one time in 8th grade because I was whipping around the rink like I owned it. haha
My first date was a baseball game. I received straight-A tickets to the St. Louis Cardinals games. I was upset because he didn’t know anything about baseball. That was a major ding.
I am the second eldest of eight. So yes, I was a part of a youth group.
I can roller-skate. I want to start going again.
Coffee for breakfast.
Love your answers. I can see why the fact he didn’t know anything about baseball bummed you out. It would me, too.
Good answers. You had a fun childhood.
Thanks. I can’t complain. 😀
