I always remembered the summers I spent with my grandma.
I called her “Cool Grandma,” though never to her face. She drove a sports car and ordered pizza whenever we came to stay. She ate it crust first, which made no sense, but I decided it didn’t matter. Cool was cool.
Grandma lived in a little yellow house on a corner lot. Life slowed down there in a way that felt natural. I wandered outside and always found something to do. I didn’t mind the heat or how the sun turned my freckled shoulders red instead of tan. I would have stayed forever if I could.
Those summers felt like their own small world. A bright yard. A quiet house. A girl who never got bored. And a grandma who made everything feel easy.
I didn’t know it then, but those days would stay with me for the rest of my life.
Thank you so much, kind friends, for reading, liking, lurking, and commenting! You are important!

Thank you so much, Jo-Anne. That makes me happy.
Oh how I treasure my childhood memories, when my thoughts on them pay a visit. As a six-year-something. We didn’t have beautiful two-story early 1900s homes in a garden filled neighbourhood. We had the African wilds with many wild animals of every description. What an adventure! My only Granny lived with us. She was soo special to me. I love those memories and I shall cherish them until I am transformed from this world. Thank you Kymber for sharing.
Thank you, Peter‑James. Your childhood sounds extraordinary, and those memories with your Granny feel deeply rooted and full of life. I love how vividly you carry them, and I’m glad my own small piece of the past connected with yours.
