An Evening in Battle Alley

We stopped by Ziggy’s Ice Cream Shop tonight, the kind of simple detour that turns into a small memory. The Mister chose Praline Pecan, and I ordered a small scoop of Rush Hour. It tastes like coffee with caramel and chocolate chips, the kind of flavor you only find in a town that still remembers how to be cozy.

Before we ordered, I took a picture of Ziggy’s. The counter was bright, the menu overhead, and that familiar hum of people deciding what they want. After that, we carried our cups over to find a table in Battle Alley. It’s one of those tucked spots where the brick walls feel close enough to make everything quieter. Ice cream always tastes better there.

I took a few photos while we sat. One of the big planters overflowing with summer flowers, another of a shop window sign that said “Thanks for shopping local!” with holly leaves at the top. Holly has a way of reminding you where you are.

Main Street looked pretty tonight too, with the Battle Alley Coffee sign hanging over the sidewalk. I took a picture of their doorway, the one with the holly leaves and berries, because it always feels like a welcome. And of course, another planter. They never match, and that’s part of their charm.

Just a simple evening, but a good one. Holly does small moments well.

Wonderful, the perfect Friday eve with your date! I haven’t been to Holly in a long time and the name Battle Alley is familiar. Have a great weekend, guys. (the weather here on the lake has been fantastic!)

How delightfully charming! Sounds like a lovely evening. Makes me wish I didn’t live in a big city.

Big cities have their perks, too, but I do prefer living in the village. Charming is a good word for it.
