Prayers, and Good Vibes Needed

Hello, Friends. It’s been a long time, and I appreciate all of you for sticking around while our house remodel is going on.

I’m afraid our family has been hit hard recently. Our daughter was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, and is undergoing chemotherapy.

Katy (known by some as Amanda – her middle name), is pregnant, has a young daughter at home, and a husband serving in the military.

This is what she wrote on her Facebook Timeline:

“I’ve always heard that every pregnancy is different. I thought my first pregnancy was rough dealing with preterm labor, Brandon being deployed, and being on meds to keep my contractions away. I thought I kind of knew what to expect with this one knowing ahead of time that I have an issue with my cervix. Unfortunately I had absolutely no idea how incredibly crazy this roller coaster would be lol.

In my first trimester my blood tests started coming back weird. I was afraid that there was something serious wrong with my baby. After finally determining that the baby was ok my own health was now being tested as I started having different symptoms of chest pain, swollen lymph nodes and coughing. I am now 22 weeks pregnant and have had 11 blood draws, 4 procedures, a covid test, weekly progesterone shots and mri’s. All of which is safe for the baby and dr approved.

I got my biopsy results back on Monday and it’s been confirmed that I have stage 2 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. It is the most curable type of cancer and due to my baby I was in the right hands at the right time and have been blessed with the absolute best medical team, for that I am so grateful. I just started my first round of chemotherapy yesterday and I feel strong and proud to be fighting with my miracle baby!

I couldn’t thank my friends, family, medical team, or my wonderful husband enough for all of the love and support I’ve received throughout this journey already! I love you all so very much 🥰❤️❤️”

This is our sweet girl here:

First chemotherapy day.

There is a gofundme to help with her medical expenses; bills have already started rolling in. If you can help, that would be great. Please send good thoughts and prayers for her full recovery and a healthy baby, too.

This is Katy’s (Amanda’s) gofundme:

Amanda Schoensee Cancer Fund

There is also a Meal Train set up for her and her family:

Meal Train for Amanda Schoensee

Thank you all for reading, and thank you for your kindness, too. xo

We talk a lot, so I know things are going so, so much better since this went up. Gosh, that had to be such a frightening time for you all. Cancer causes such upheaval and chemo is awful. Then, top it all off by being pregnant – gosh! I’m so, so glad that all the prayers and good energy helped. May they all remain healthy and happy. 🙂

Frightening x100 is how it felt. I’m so grateful for our family. This past Christmas, Katy was deemed cancer free! I’ve never been so relieved in all my life. She and her little family are precious to us.

Again, I’m sorry I didn’t say anything earlier, but I’m happy that she’s doing better now and that you came back to simlit. You really needed a little break and that was definitely good for you to come back to your hobby. Wishing you all the best <3

Oh this is not the answer I wanted about your hiatus. 🙁 Though I know enough lymphoma survivors to believe in her too. I hope (a month later) that treatment’s still going well and that everyone involved is safe, everything’s weird with pregnancy.

I sensed something was wrong and I’m glad you let us know of your family’s challenge centered on Katy’s battle with cancer. I’m reminded of that special bond of military families and how their sacrifice and selflessness shows so brilliantly in Katy’s positive attitude. Thank you for sharing this. Not only can we help in some small way with the go fund me or meals, we can also be enlightened by the strength and courage your daughter shows us. Surely when God blesses us, he will bless Katy, her child, and the entire family. 🌞🙏🏼

You are most welcome, Kymber. I feel you and know the greatest challenges tighten the family bonds with kevlar love.

Kymber March 27, 2021 - 9:21 pm

I think you are so right about that.

Hyperion March 27, 2021 - 9:29 pm

We tried it over here in the Dragon Tribe house and decided after a while we are unconquerable. Plus, we’re all a tad whacky which helps with entertainment.

Kymber March 27, 2021 - 9:40 pm

I thought it was just us with the wacky. LOLOL 😀 I’m glad you have found the secret to being unconquerable, I’m right there with ya’.

Hyperion March 27, 2021 - 10:03 pm

INFJ’s rule! We know that whacky-life is the best life. My youngest daughter is also INFJ and we double team the rest of the family with our Vulcan mind meld routine. 🤪🤣

Kymber March 27, 2021 - 10:04 pm

Hahaha! My father and son are both INFJ. We should follow your example! 😀

Hyperion March 27, 2021 - 10:23 pm

We are really starting to spread. Soon, we’ll have all the INFP’s on board and life is going to get better. Introverts rule the quiet!

Kymber March 27, 2021 - 10:53 pm

I know that’s right! 😀

I am sorry to hear about this. Cancer sucks! Wish, I lived closer. I would love join in on the meal train. I know how hard it can be to make dinner for your family, while feeling ill.

Reply
Kymber March 27, 2021 - 4:44 pm

Thank you so much. Cancer sucks for sure! It’s true that it’s hard to make dinner when you don’t feel good. Thank you for your support. ❤️

If she keeps to be Positive she will be cured , she will there is no reasons she left. Wikipedia tells 90% of this cancer is curable for the young adult (less than 20) and the children. Your daughter is still young she will survive.

Thank you so much. I agree with you about having a positive attitude and what that can do. She is much better now.

Oh my goodness, I’m so, so sorry. Poor Katy, and you must be hit terribly hard by this knowing what you’re daughter’s going through, Kymber 🌹 I’m glad all of the blood tests because of the pregnancy were able to pick this up when they did and not any later. I’m amazed at her resolve, ability to be so grateful and her strength in her post – she’s made of tougher stuff than me. She’ll be in good hands, and the little one too. I’ll be thinking of her and sending my very, very best wishes to you all  ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ xxxxxx
