The Day Jimmy Met His New Baby Sister (TMoC)

When little Jimmy was two, he welcomed his new baby sister home. We put her in the baby swing and brought Jimmy to her, telling him that if the baby liked him, she would clasp his hand with hers. Of course, he didn’t know that babies have a reflex that means they will clasp what is put in their hand.

When the baby’s hand closed around his finger, his entire face lit up and he said, “My baby loves me!”

From then on, she was “his” baby.

At her first checkup, Jimmy insisted on coming along to make sure his baby would be all right.

The nurse just loved the baby and said, “I think I’ll take her home with me!”

Jimmy stood up very straight, looked her in the eye, putting his body between the nurse and the baby. Sternly, he said, “That’s my baby, you get your own!”

To this day, Jimmy and Katy are close siblings who enjoy each other’s company.

And that, my friends, is a touch of booomcha.

That tiny hand holding his finger turned into a lifelong bond. Little Jimmy claiming “that is my baby” is sibling love. Truly a sweet booomcha moment. 😊

Beautiful! I was born at home and and my brother was 12. He had a Saturday job and was fascinated that when he came home, I had arrived and was no longer in Mum’s tummy. He’s always looked out for me, and I am closer to him than any of my siblings, even though he’s in NZ now.

Thanks. Other brother is in the UK and he’s 84 this year, my sister being 75 in September, so I’m the baby (70 this May)

A heartwarming and delightful story. The innocence and protectiveness of little Jimmy toward his baby sister is beautifully captured, and it perfectly reflects the pure love that often grows between siblings from the very beginning. Moments like these remind us how simple childhood memories become the most precious bonds over time. Truly a charming and joyful read. 💛

That is a cute story Kymber. The one we tell about our young boys (now approaching 40) is about when we were in a store and the clerk spotted our youngest and had an “ahhhh” moment before spotting our oldest (then 5) and saying, no wonder you made another. We have to keep remembering the cuteness these days. Happy Sunday. Allan
