Spilling The Beans on Kymber

Getting to know Kymber!  Three interesting facts you may have never heard, spilled by me, BEE.

1.  Kymber is terrified of dentists. I mean TERRIFIED TO THE MAX.
2.  Kymber still has four baby teeth!  A trait that runs in her family.
3.  Kymber had her first, FIRST cavity last year in 2024 at the ripe age of……no I am not going to tell you!   But I will say, she is slightly older than me.

I’m guessing you are sensing a theme here and the final getting to know you is, dun dun dun, Kymber is very sick with dental pain.  She is off for a root canal next week.

Kymber wished for me to tell everyone how sorry she has been for not feeling well enough to answer your comments and get anything posted. Of course I told her she was worrying for absolutely no reason, but she likes to worry about all of you! Perhaps everyone could send her some get well wishes in the comments until she returns and ease her mind a little? Currently she is on some intense pain meds giving her the kind of lovely naps we all wish we could get on a regular day. In between, she may be able to read a few comments here and there.

As always, you are all awesome! I hope your days are filled the blessings of good cheer, peace, love and laughter!

Sincerely,

BEE

I had missed, Kymber’s post but I thought she’d taken the summer off. Clearly there is a lot more going on than this initial dental pain.

Sorry to hear Kymber is not feeling well. Thanks for filling in Bee. As to dentists, I used to be afraid of them too, but that changed when I went for the first time and met my soon to be wife (a dental assistant. Now I am more afraid of losing my teeth than of dentists. Cheers. Allan

That is a wonderful story Allan! I’m sure Kymber will love that when she is well enough to return comments.

Kymber, you likely have plenty of company when it comes to fear and the dentist. It hasn’t always been my most favorite appointment.

I have a fear of the dentist too! I always get so nervous during dentist visits to the point where I feel like avoiding them, but I know that’s not good! If I wasn’t going to the dentist regularly I wouldn’t have known that I needed my wisdom teeth removed! Hope things are going well by now!

After reading all these messages, I understand what a blessing my dentist was. He was with me from the time I was young until he died. And he made you feel like you were visiting a kind uncle and then grandpa when my kids went to him. The younger gentleman who took over his practice is super personable too and I’ve stuck with him since. He is about 5 years younger than me. I also took my kids to the dentist every six months till the age of 18 for cleanings etc. Canada has this wonderful dental program that pays for kids.

Yikes! Dental pain is SO awful! But yay for the naps. 🙂 I hope all went well with the root canal and you have blessed relief, Kymber. 🌹 Thank you, Bee, for the update.

I hope your root canal goes well. They’re not that bad, and the worry/anticipation is arguably the worst part.

Some 10 years ago I had an allergic reaction to dental anesthetic and had itchy welts all over my body. It was so bad that I couldn’t sleep for more than two or three minutes at a time because I’d wake up scratching myself raw.

After four or five days of going to doctors, getting referrals to specialists, going to the ER twice, and not sleeping, I was so delirious from lack of sleep that I started hallucinating and talking to myself.

I will never forget that night. I was fascinated — fascinated! — that my keyboard could be used to make music, then I started playing it and making what I thought was incredible music only to realize it was never plugged in.

Then I started telling myself jokes and hysterically laughing. “You are a seriously funny dude! I never realized how funny you are!” I told myself.

“Thanks!” I replied to myself. “I am pretty damn funny, aren’t I?”

Eventually I fell asleep WHILE I WAS STILL CONSCIOUS, one of the most bizarre and terrifying experiences I’ve ever had.

I heard a noise that was like some great machine the size of a warehouse shutting down, and I realized it was my body when paralysis started to set in, which normally happens to prevent us from acting out our dreams and hurting ourselves. We are not supposed to be conscious and witnessing that process happening, but there I was observing it, with no way to make it stop or any say in anything, really. I think it was my body finally shutting down to protect itself from permanent damage due to lack of sleep.

I thought I was dying at first. Then I had the most bizarre dream in my life, but that’s a whole other story.

It took weeks to recover and I couldn’t even speak properly for a while, which really sucked because I was an assignment editor at the time and had a team of young journalists to manage.

Anyway, I’m telling you this not to scare you, but to tell you NOT to be like me. I was so put off by the experience, so terrified after what I went through, that I wouldn’t go near a dentist for six or seven years after that, and made things worse for myself.

As much as it sucks, you gotta do it. It’s always best to get it over with, and then your reward is a day or two off, a few painkillers and an excuse to take it easy and binge a Netflix series.

Good luck!

Getting my first root canal at this moment – four trips to the dentist in total, three to go. But I’m more scared of needles, as the yearly health checks of my teeth have been positive experiences so far. I feel sorry for the profession, though. People just hate going to the dentist…
So good luck and a whole heap of courage to Kymber 🙂

I am very sorry about the root canal but I am so impressed that her first cavity was last year, My first one was at age 7. But in total I have not had many (5).

Sorry to hear this. Dental issues are NOT NICE and damned expensive to resolve (Hubby has just forked out nearly £300 for a check up and filling). I would rather have migraine than toothache. Hope all goes well and the treatment doesn’t exceed the current pain levels.

Yikes. I hope you feel better soon. I hate going to the dentist too, but I go very four months. I’m 73 years old and healthy teeth are so important to good health.

Big healing hugs. ♥

Feel better soon, Kymber. I’ve dealt with tooth pain and it’s almost as bad, if not worse than having a baby. 🤗
