Nature’s Wild Spirit
In twilight’s embrace,
the black panther prowls,
a shadow slipping through the verdant veil,
muffled heartbeat of the jungle,
where danger lurks and wonders bloom.
Curved claws tap-dance on ancient earth,
each step a tale of bravery,
of nature’s pulse against humanity’s silence.
Eyes aglow with fierce confidence,
the spirit of wild echoes
an exploration of dark that binds us all.

Hey, for somebody who doesn’t write much poetry, that was pretty good! Maybe you should write more of it, jus’ sayin’… Kevin’s a champion community builder, isn’t he?
Thanks, Ana! You’re so right about Kevin. 🙂

You’re welcome, Kymber!
Bee’s a poet and I hope she knows it. Captivating the stealth of the great cat in the wild of the jungle night.
Thank you, PeterJames. I’m glad you liked it.
The big cats are always powerful symbols. Well-done, Kymber! 🐈⬛

Cats for ever
Right on! Thank you for coming by!
Beautiful jaguar!
Ah! You’re right. I called him a panther. lol
You’re not wrong, “panther” is kind of a generic term that could refer to a jaguar, leopard or puma (mountain lion), but it looks like the cat in the painting is meant to be a jaguar because it’s a rainforest/jungle type setting, and the tail is proportionate. Leopards have ridiculously long tails, and pumas don’t have a melanistic color morph, so yeah, if the artist was making a distinction, I’d think jaguar. Jaguars are also stockier and more heavily muscled, whereas leopards are more agile and slimmer.
I’ve come to really appreciate them more in recent years after reading a lot about them. They’re mysterious, beautiful, and it’s said that if you enter the Amazon, the jaguars know you’re there and have eyes on you immediately, but they won’t bother you and you’ll only see them if they let you.
And of course, “yaguara” means “He who kills with one leap,” which is badass lol.
I love this. Thank you for telling me about it. I love big cats and like learning about them.
