An Autumnal Picnic

An Autumnal Picnic

Crimson leaves cascade softly from trees,
the family gathers on a checkered spread.
Grandpa’s eyes twinkle like the setting sun.
His tales cozy, like a cup of warm cider.
A gentle breeze whispers nostalgia,
the scent of fond recollections wafting.
Shared laughter fills the air,
while the descending sun tints the sky in hues of orange.
This instant seems everlasting, a cherished memory to become.
An autumnal picnic with grandpa, elegantly uncomplicated yet profound.
In the tranquil dusk, affection and joy are everywhere.

That’s what I’d rather do than spend endless hours on social media blind to the nuances of other people.

Grandpas are precious. In their time they are special and when they leave the fondness of their memory lingers. I didn’t have the privilege of a Grandpa, both mine passed before I was born. My hope is my Grandchildren will have fond memories of their ‘Zeydeh.’ (Yiddish for grandfather.) Blessings, Kymber.

They are precious indeed. I so agree with what you say about after they leave, the fondness of their memory lingers. 🌺🩷 I’m sure your grandchildren will definitely have fond memories of you. I love “Zeydeh.” That is awesome. Blessings to you as well, my friend.

My elderly parents, 80+’s, just had come for a visit. I could see him in this poem of yours. Your flowing autumn words filled my heart with fond memories and of a family reunion next Fall 2025 with my family. First time in 30 years. Thank you, Kymber. You always lighten my heart 🙂 <3 CJ

Beautiful poetry, Kymber. It brings to mind memories of my grampa (my mom’s dad) playing his accordion and singing Norwegian folk songs to me and my sisters when we were kids. Good times. 😊

As someone who favors Autumn so much, this was a poem I really enjoyed, Kymber. I know my Grandfather appreciated the cooler weather (and cider!)…maybe that’s where I got it from.🙂

Kimber,

What a lovely poem! It takes me back to the days we’d spend at my late in-laws in southern WV. They had the purrfect place. On weekend summer visits, we often built a campfire to roast wieners and marshmallows with our kids. As early evening turned to night, we stayed around the fire enjoying time together. Sometimes, we’d sing songs but most of the time we share conversation. It was always so nice. Those fond memories are like warm embers wrapping us with love from those no longer with us until we can see them again. Thank you for the beautiful poem and for visiting my little niche in Blogosphere. Have a boogietastic week, my dear!
