Tattered

Tattered

In the quiet of twilight,
a tattered flag flutters in the breeze,
the symbol of a nation torn apart,
cries that never cease.
The echoes of the cannons
still reverberate in the ground,
where young souls were claimed
by war’s relentless sound.
Through the darkness of conflict,
a hero’s heart stands tall,
lessons of courage and loss
etched upon history’s wall.

Well said Kymber. It is always good to imagine what someone (a soldier, perhaps) must be going through. I am sure many/most would rather be anywhere else, but battle. War takes a heavy toll. Have a great evening. Allan

So moving. It’s brave to write this way, too, imagining and empathizing with the fates of others.

Thank a veteran today. There is nothing more humbling, more humanitarian. These brave souls gave up their lives so we can live as we do. Yet, we are being made to forget.

A powerful poem, I thought especially so with how the “echoes of the cannons” feels to be also echoed in the thudding of the hero’s heart. A commemorating of all those who were lost.

What a poem this is! Well done. It actually draws my attention more to what is currently happening in Ukraine, where almost all the men in the country are out defending the pride of their nation. Bless you for sharing this.
It’s truly heartbreaking to see the situation in Ukraine unfold, with so many lives being lost and families torn apart. The bravery and resilience of the Ukrainian people in the face of such adversity is truly inspiring.

Thank you so much. And I agree with you completely. It is definitely inspiring to see how the Ukrainian people have responded to this horrible thing they face. I pray for them, especially as I watch the news and hear reports of what is happening. You said “…truly heartbreaking…” and you are right.

Thank you again. I really appreciate your feedback and what this means for you. 🌺
