June Reading Wrap-Up!

I hope you’re having a wonderful week, Kind Friends! And I also hope the month of June was good to you!

In my neck of the woods (the Great Lakes Area in the US), it’s been hot and humid. How has it been for you?

Well, without further ado, here is my progress for June:

As of June 29, 2024
I read 6 books in June. And I am 1 book behind schedule in the Goodreads Reading Challenge.

I want to read more of the “Witches of Palmetto Point” series by Wendy Wang since I’ve read 5 of them. So far, there are 13 books in the series. When will I get back to this? I’ve been saying this forever!

I would also like to return to the “Amelia Peabody” series by Elizabeth Peters.

Next up, though, I want to read Finding Me: An Estranged Sisters New Adult Romance Novel (The Defiant Sisters Duet Book 2) by Jacquie Biggar!

I really want to read all of Jacqui Murray’s books!

The Boys (2019)
Season 4
Poker Face (2023–)
Season 1
Evil (2019–2024)
Season 4
Based on a True Story (2023-)
Season 1
House of the Dragon (2022-)
Season 2
Criminal Minds (2005-)
Season 17
Urban Legend (1998)Itsy Bitsy (2019) 🤮🤢
The Divergent Series: Insurgent (2024)Allegiant (2016)
Divergent (2014)Godzilla Minus One (2023)
The Nun II (2023)Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes (2024)
Urban Legend (1998)Aliens (1986)
Anne Boleyn (2021)
TV Mini Series (3 episodes)

Some exciting movies still coming in 2024 are The Crow and Nosferatu with Bill Skarsgård. Other movies I’m looking forward to are A Quiet Place: Day OneBeetlejuice 2Joker: Folie à Deux, and Wicked Part 1.

I’m really looking forward to the rest of Season 4 of Evil (2019–2024), and House of the Dragon.

What did you read in June, and what was your favorite?

What did you watch, and what did you think about it?

June was a terrific month bonding with the new kittens, Max and Binx, and reading some amazing posts from you guys. The Mister and I spent more time with the Littles (which is incredibly fun!), so you may not have seen me around like I usually am.

May your day, and this coming month, bring you blessings and joy!

Thank you so much for reading, liking, lurking, and commenting! You are important!

I read eleven books in June. My Effin’ Life, by Geddy Lee, The Adventures and Misadventures of the Extraordinary and Admirable Joan Orpí, Conquistador and Founder of New Catalonia, by Max Besora, Out of the Frying Pan, Into the Choir, by Sharon Kahn, Never Whistle at Night: An Indigenous Dark Fiction Anthology, by various authors, Who’s on Worst?: The Lousiest Players, Biggest Cheaters, Saddest Goats and Other Antiheroes in Baseball History, by Filip Bondy, How To Sell A Haunted House, by Grady Hendrix, A Film In Which I Play Everyone (poems), by Mary Jo Bang, Fox Woman Get Out! (poems), by India Lena Gonzalez, The Long Quiche Goodbye, by Avery Aames, What Angels Fear, by C.S. Harris, and Jane Eyre, by Charlotte Bronte. My favorite would either be the Geddy Lee autobiography or the Indigenous Dark Fiction Anthology.

Your books sound fantastic! Very catchy titles, so I know I’ll be checking some of those out. To Sell A Haunted House, by Grady Hendrix is in my TBR. I can’t wait to read it. Thank you so much for your comment. 🌺

It’s been hot and humid here in southern Ontario as well. Seems like you’ve been making good progress on your reading goal and have still found time to snuggle with your new kitties too. I’ve been doing a lot of reading, but it’s all been children’s books! My seven month old loves story time.

That is awesome! I read a lot with my babies, and that is time well-spent. I’ll never forget those special times. xo

That is a lot of reading Kymber. It is good to have a target to strive for. Happy Wednesday. Allan

Hi, Allan! Happy Wednesday!

Having that target keeps me going, lol. I’m kind of competitive, even if it’s with myself. LOL

I see Godzilla Minus One here, Kymber. That may have been my favorite film from last year. We waited to see the black and white version to have it more closely resemble the Japanese Godzilla films we grew up with, and it was well worth the wait. Great movie. I haven’t seen the original Aliens in many years but may give that a rewatch before the new Alien film arrives in August. Watching The Boys and Evil as well!

Kymber Hawke July 1, 2024 - 9:53 pm

We didn’t see the black and white one and I just asked The Mister about it, and he said it would be interesting to see. I see what you mean about how it compliments the Japanese Godzilla films because that is one thing The Mister grew up watching, too. I think it’s a great idea to see Aliens prior to the new Alien film. I didn’t list it, but that’s one I’m hoping to see in the theater. The Boys and Evil are great shows. 🌺

As usual you read more than I do.
In June I read four books:
What This Comedian Said Will Shock You by Bill Mahers,
No More Fairy Tales: Stories to Save our Planet, an anthology
Lunar Gazing by Dawn Pisturino
Sarah by Kaye Lynne Booth

They were all five stars except No More Fairy Tales

I think 4 books is great, Thomas! I think they all sound really good!

Tadahhhhh I finished a book in July too. (Just thought you wanted to know grin)
You are right on target with your number. Halfway through the year and halfway through the books.

Reply
Kymber Hawke June 30, 2024 - 8:53 pm

Grinning with you! lol I’m trying to stay on target, but I reckon I will not freak out that I’m one behind. I like your way of saying it better.

Oh those look like some very interesting books! This kind of makes me want to get back onto Goodreads. I’ve not logged into in probably like a year!

Reply

LOL I had gone a couple years without logging in, I think, but finally decided I wanted to do the challenge. 🌺 If you do get back on Goodreads, be sure to friend me (I’m Unity Hayes, my pen name on Goodreads). I would love to see what you’re reading. 🩷

Last book I read was Unstoppable Prosperity by Charles Payne, an investment strategy.
Here in the Carolinas it has been hot and sunny for better than a week now with very little rain. But the sky is a beautiful Carolina Blue, practically cloudless.
Also, my wife and I celebrated our 49th anniversary this past week. My younger son has told us that we will be grandparents again. Other than that, life is pretty uneventful. Enjoy your week and keep writing.

Reply
Kymber Hawke June 30, 2024 - 1:48 pm

That’s all so wonderful! Congratulations on the future grandchild!

The Carolinas sound gorgeous. I think it would be a lovely place to live.

I think that would be a good book to read as well. I could use that in my life. lol

Congratulations on your anniversary! 49 years is commendable!

I’m so happy for you, and I hope you enjoy your week, too.

Wow. That’s great. My goal for the year was 20 books. I’ve finished two. I’m reading a couple daily devotional type books. I read a lot of poetry, though. I don’t count that on Goodreads.

Reply
Kymber Hawke June 30, 2024 - 10:33 am

Thank you so much, Melissa. I love devotional books. I have a series that I’m reading, too.

I hope you’re having a lovely weekend. 🌺
