Yesterday, as The Mister was coming home from work, he stopped at PetsMart and saw they were having an adoption event. That’s when he met Zoey, an 8 month old kitten. She’s cute isn’t she?
This is what they said about her. (They were calling her Josie.):
“Josie is a sweet and independent kitten with a playful spirit. While she might not be a fan of being picked up, she loves exploring and entertaining herself. She gets along well with other cats and dogs, though she prefers to keep her distance from the canine members of the household.
Josie would live well with cats, dogs, and kids with proper introductions.”
We already had paperwork filled out with this agency (Los Gatos Foster Animals), so The Mister was able to bring her home right away.
They named her Josie but as you know, we already have a Josie (Josie-Pye). But when we got Josie, we were going to name her Zoey. In the end, we decided on Josie. The new kitty was called Josie and we’re calling her Zoey. LOL Well, it makes sense to us. haha
I wish we had more and better pictures, but she is shy and we’re letting her acclimate at her own pace. Once we’re all best buddies, I’ll post more pictures.
Here is the new graphic for the babies:

We love Cesare with all our heart and soul, and we miss him dearly. We hadn’t had an orange cat before him. And we’d heard wonderful things about them; that they’re loving and affectionate, playful and snuggly. Cesare checked every box.
After his passing, we waited for a while before adopting Max and Binx. Mas, as you know, is an orange tabby. And he is also a wonderful little kitty. (I mean, both Max and Binx are. lol)
This made us further curious about orange cats, so we decided this orange tabby female was coming home. We’re waiting to see how wonderful she can be now that she is in her furrever home and loved.
So, our hearts are full and we’re not looking to adopt anymore at this time because we can’t handle more than four. Did you ever just feel, though, as if you’d like to adopt them all?

I’m so excited to see Zoey joining our family! What’s her favorite thing to do? 🐬
Thank you! She loves to play with a little catnip mouse. It’s so cute. Hopefully, we’ll have more pics in the future.
Congratulations on the beautiful new addition — the name suits perfectly.
I love watching your little clowder grow; it’s such a joy to see.
Your post reminded me of a small décor piece I was given years ago that reads, “Time spent with animals is added to your life.” By that logic, you and your Mister are well on your way to immortality.
I’ve always been a dog person myself (Bearded Collies — don’t judge!). We had two littermates from the time they were nine weeks old, and they were my whole world. One was taken by an aggressive cancer at eleven, and her sister lived four more years with Cushing’s before we had to say goodbye again. I truly admire your strength in opening your heart after losing Cesare. I haven’t quite been able to take that step yet, even though I miss having fur babies brighten my days.
Wishing you all the joy, laughter, and those sweet little aww moments that come with a new family member — they’re always worth the occasional “argh!” moments too.
Hugs, and all the best as you continue your recovery. XO
Thank you so much for your beautiful comment. 💕 I am glad to know your story and hope you continue to heal. Our clowder has grown beyond what I thought I could handle but I’ve found we have a lot of love to give.
Thank you again. You have really brightened my day.
Congratulations on your new family member! 💖 Zoey is a cutie and I love her name. 😎 (My dog is also a Zoey.)
Thank you. Yes, I remember thinking what a darling name that was. 💗🌺
Zoey is absolutely adorable! Hope she’s settling into her new home nicely!
Thank you. She’s doing well but still needs a little space to explore.
I grew up with a ginger tabby cat and my first cat out on my own…Puss Cat, was an orange, we had Ginger and other cats. AND YES—four at one time was all my wife and I could handle, too, with some serious territorial issues cropping up. So Puss Cat would go on walkabout for weeks at a time. It sounds like Zoey’s been adopted into a relatively peaceful cat family. WELCOME ZOEY!
Thank you, Jonathan. I love reading about your cats!
You are right that this is a peaceful cat family. They’re all used to other cats. When they met Zoey, they told her hello and acted like she belonged there. 😀
Which she does! <3

I think so, too, John. Thank you. 😀
Many years ago, I adopted a kitty we named Sadie Mae. She had a litter and we kept her daughter Kizzie Bell. Later, Sadie Mae and Kizzie Bell both had litters at almost the same time. Our Irish Setter, Misty Lou stepped in to help out like a proper Auntie. So we found we had a Platoon of Kitties and a helicopter auntie. Apparently, someone suspected we were running a Kitty Kat Militia and the SPCA came by to do a welfare check up on us. When he knocked on the door all the cats and Misty gathered to greet the stranger and when we opened the door the cats and dog bulldozed the SPCA Agent over backwards in the stampede for freedom. That made for a nervous introduction and then it got worse. Our Minah Bird screamed out from his cage near the door, “Help, I’m in here for chasing chickens!” My wife had to take over and explain, because I was blowing bubbles out my nose from stifling my laugh. At that time, she looked and sounded exactly like Elly Mae Clampett of the Beverly HIllbillies. This somehow calmed the agent’s anxiety and he could see everyone, including me looked healthy, happy, and well fed. Our talking bird had a huge vocabulary of inappropriate southern slang. When my son was born, the Bird had to go live with a nice retired family. My wife was scared to death my son’s first words would be WTF with a southern accent. Furbabies are a heavenly delight but feathered friends can add to the family dynamic too.
LMAO!! Now that is a funny story.
We had a quaker parrot (who lives with our daughter now) who could speak in my daughter’s voice or in his own voice.
So, this one day, I’m upstairs cleaning and I threw an empty cardboard box down the stairs. Then, my daughter screamed so loud I thought she was being attacked. I about killed myself to get down the stairs to her but when I got there, that bird started laughing at me in my daughter’s voice!! I realized my daughter was at school and it had been the bird the entire time.
Waaa haaa haaaa! Birds are mischievous rascals. I’m positive they know exactly what they are doing when they speak up.
I’m positive about that, too! LOLOLOL Mischievous is right! 😀 😀
Can you imagine having 5 or 6 of them in the house? The conversations would certainly be lively. It would be like a neighborhood BBQ with free beer.
I cannot imagine that. hahahaha It would be exactly as you say. lol
Total riot. The neighbors would probably prefer noisy and playful kids after enduring a rowdy bunch of birds.
LOL I know that’s right!
My head elves are a lot like that too. Mardi Gras is coming up and they just go wild. I have to wear sunglasses in case they get out of control and try to stand behind my eyes and flash somebody for free beads. They are just like a tree full of pirate parrots. 🫣
LOLOLOL I love it! 😀
I try not to encourage those silly head elves, but sometimes they can be a blast. 🤭
LOL Yes, I imagine that is quite true! 😀
Oh! We considered Kizzie for a name, too!
That’s a good name for a cat. They seem to like it. We always gave our animals the southern two-name first name. They were very proud they received good southern names.
The daughter Katy had a cat named “Baby Sue.” LOL I bet they were very proud indeed!
Now that is a genuine southern name of endearment.
LOL I thought you’d think so.
What a lovely kitty! Can’t wait to read about her adventures with the rest of the family. Take care, muchos hugs.
Gracias! I’m sure there will be many such adventures. I can’t wait! Muchos hugs to you, too. 💓🌺
Aww such a cutie! ❤️
Thank you so much! 💓🌺
You’re most welcome.
💕🌸
Zoey is so cute!
Thank you, Alex. She’s a sweet girl.
You’re welcome, Kymber!
What a cutie pie. It’s good to give a great forever home to a precious kitty.
Have a fabulous day and week, Kymber. Scritches to the kitties and love and healing hugs to you. ♥
Thank you, Sandee!
Hoping you have a fabulous day and week, too. See you tomorrow for Awww Mondays! Love and hugs to you. 💓🌺
What a beautiful, heart-warming story. 💛 Zoey is absolutely precious, and the way she found her way to you feels like one of those meant-to-be moments. Adoption events have a kind of quiet magic, and it sounds like she chose you just as much as you chose her.
I love how thoughtfully you’re letting her settle in at her own pace—that kind of patience and respect says everything about the love in your home. And the name switch? Honestly perfect. 😂 It does make sense, especially in a family where names are already part of the heart.
Thank you, Vijay. I think you’re right about Zoey choosing The Mister, too.
I’m glad you understood the name change. haha 😀
Aww!!! Hopefully she gets used to you and the Mister soon. Your heart is so full of love!
Thank you, Hilly. She’s curious, so I don’t think it will take too long, but we’ll see. 💓🌺
