September Reading Wrap-Up!

For the first time this year, I am caught up with the Goodreads 2023 reading challenge! Cue the fireworks!! lol I started this challenge 26 books behind, I think it was, because I didn’t start it in January when it began.

Let’s hope I can stay on track now! 😀

Incidentally, if you’re ever wondering what book I’m reading or where I am in the Goodreads challenge, you can find it in the sidebar. It looks like this:

Cesare the Cat holds it up for me. LOL 😀

I read 24 books in September. You’ll note that some of these were shorter audiobooks.

I’m still reading a lot of Elizabeth Peters. Having finished the Jacqueline Kirby series now, I worried about starting the Amelia Peabody books since I would not be able to finish them in October, but I’m glad I did. I like them so much. I’ve read 5/20 of them. I look forward to returning to them in November.

I really love the “Witches of Palmetto Point” series!

The Mister and I are reading this together. 🙂

I hope to follow my plans for October as outlined in this post:

I would also like to add the “Witches of Palmetto Point Series” by Wendy Wang since I’ve read 3 of them and am in the middle of the 4th one. So far, there are 13 in the series.

In other news, I’m looking forward to some holiday reading after October comes to a close!

The Serpent Queen – Season 1Ahsoka – Season 1Only Murders in the Building – Season 3
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – Season 1The Wheel of Time – Season 2American Horror Story: Delicate – Season 12
Jamestown – Season 1Marie Antoinette – Season 1Star Trek: Strange New Worlds
S2.E9 ∙ Subspace Rhapsody (re-watched several times; if you know, you know lol)
The Nun II

I wanted to see A Haunting in Venice as I’m a sucker for all things Poirot, but I never got to it. I’ll catch it when it begins streaming.

What did you read in September, and what was your favorite?

What did you watch and what did you think about it?

Well, that’s about it for September!

Thank you for reading, liking, lurking, and commenting. I appreciate you!

  1. Wow, there are certainly lots of Elizabeth Peters books here. I’ll have to check her out. I finished two big duologies with Seven Mercies and Crooked Kingdom. I also read World War Z by Max Brooks although maybe I should’ve waited for October for that as a zombie book would’ve been the perfect creepy read.

  2. YAY Kymber! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 I applaud you girlfriend. That is so impressive. I am no where near the numbers you have reached on Goodreads. Bravo!!! 📕📚📗

        1. It helps that I’m retired. Someone once commented I must be retired or in prison. I laughed so hard, I had to explain to the Mister why I was cackling. 😛

  3. Hi Kymber, I see you’ve now linked your gravatar to your blog which is great. I can’t list all the books I read in a month but I’m currently reading a Journal of a plague year, Ever so gently and Mae Clair’s new Harbour Pointe book.

    1. Whew! I’m glad that is showing up right for a change. LOL

      It’s great to see you!

I keep track of my reads on Goodreads, otherwise, I wouldn’t remember them. lol I think what you’re reading sounds so good! I’ve really been looking forward to the Harbour Pointe books.

  4. Looks like a great month of reading, Kymber. My goodness, you gulp down a lot of books. I noticed all the Elizabeth Peters titles, and I’m glad you’re enjoying them. Happy October reading!

    1. Thank you so much, Diana. I listened to a few audio books that were shorter, and a YA book by Lois Duncan that seemed shorter, too. I loved her when I was in middle school. 🙂

Elizabeth Peters has me hooked! LOL

Happy October Reading to you, too. 🤍🌻🌺

  5. I’ve spent most of my time right here blogging I lose count of the posts I’ve read all the way through! I’ve two books waiting in the wings–one is Cindy G.’s and the other by John Piper, I think. Plus the Bible. Talk about being an avid reader, Kymber!!!!!

    1. I love your content because you always find such interesting things and your poetry is top-notch. 😀

The books I have waiting for me won’t fit in the wings anymore. LOLOL But the ones you have look really good! And of course, reading the Bible is always time well spent.

    1. Thank you, Thomas. This is the first Goodreads Challenge I’m determined to finish. LOL I can safely slow down now that I’m caught up. 🙂

I think 4 to 5 books a month is very good.

        1. You are right, of course. 🙂 🤍🌻🌺

I just started Dracula which I’m so geeked about even though I read it every October. I had to start it today, I couldn’t wait. lol Anyway, it’s a book to take your time with. 🙂

            1. That’s a good question, GP. I read them in the late 90s and remember liking them. Ann Rice had a flowery way of writing so those books took me a little bit of time to get through, if that makes sense.

    1. I have a hard time getting past more than one chapter at a time. I do love to read! Kudos to Kymber Hawke for her prolific reading!

      1. Thank you, Jen. You are so kind. 🙂 I’m a bit of an overachiever. Once I saw how far behind I was on the Goodreads reading challenge, I went into overdrive. lol I’m looking forward to more leisurely reading now that I’m caught up.

  6. I have read nothing, as usual. But, we have watched, Inspector George Gently, Only Murders in the Building, Granchester, Billions and Succession. We finished Endevour a while ago but plan on watching it again. The British police shows are excellent.

    1. Oh, yes, I agree with you on the British police shows. I’m sure the Mister would enjoy them, too.

Only Murders in the Building is a show we really enjoy. The musical is a lot of fun. 😀

    1. Thank you so much, Nise. Making these posts also helps me keep track of what I’ve read and what I want to read. I’m feeling overwhelmed about my TBR, so organizing things even just a little bit tends to help.
