Book Review

August Wrap-Up

What I read in August:

I read 18 books in August, one less than in July.

As you can see, I have been reading a lot of Elizabeth Peters, which was mainly because I like how long ago they were written. They have great atmosphere, mystery, and humor. I’ve read five of the Vicky Bliss mysteries.

What I’m reading now:

Reading plans for September:

I want to finish “The Laughter of Dead Kings” which is the sixth (and last) Vicky Bliss mystery by Elizabeth Peters, and I want to read the “Witches of Palmetto” series by Wendy Wang. I’d also like to get back to the Messy Man series by Chris Sorenson, as well as the Gravekeeper series by Darcy Coates.

What I watched in August:

Star Trek: Picard – Season 3 (this was a re-watch)Dark Winds – Season 2Good Omens – Season 2Ahsoka – Season 1
Transformers: Rise of the BeastsInfinity PoolOnly Murders in the Building – part of Season 3Ragnarok – Season 2
The Last Voyage of the DemeterGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3Run Rabbit Run Why Didn’t They Ask Evans? (2022)

What did you read in August and what was your favorite?

What did you watch and what did you think about it?

Well, that’s about it for August! I always feel like I’m missing something, but I think I got it all. lol

Thank you for reading, liking, lurking, and commenting. I appreciate you!

        1. I’ve always meant to read John Creasey. I have always been a voracious reader. Whenever I got in trouble, my mom grounded me from books. That was my worst nightmare. lol

  1. Thank you for sharing the assortment of books and your thoughts!!.. will check the books.. don’t have any special book I like, just follow my heart at the time, at the moment into paranormal… I am saving one of my favorite thrillers for Halloween night, “The Hound of the Baskervilles”… 🙂

Hope all is well in your part of the world and until we meet again..
Not just another day, my friend
For in spite of time, distance or whatever,
If only in spirit and thought
We’ll be sharing this day together.

So, have a wonderful day, my friend
Wishing you all the best, nothing less,
May today, every day, AND your heart

  2. How do you find the time to read 18 books in one month! Amazing! I never heard of Elizabeth Peters. Is she fantasy, because I’m not into that.

    1. LOL A lot of them, like most of the Elizabeth Peters books are pretty quick reads. Add to that the fact that I’m a total insomniac, and there you have it. Unfortunately, reading doesn’t make me fall asleep.

  3. Goodness gracious girly! When do you sleep? No books this month for me, but in between gardening, prepping food, kids, and Sims 3 poses, I started The Rookie. I’m loving it. In fact, I reinstated Crave just so I could watch it. Also saw Guardians 3, twice and of course you know I’m watching any and all Star Trek. Like Picard. Crave was also to get Strange New Worlds…Oh I loved that.

    1. Bwaaaaahaaaaaahaaaaaa! You silly girl, you. 😀 Sleep? What’s that? 😀

I’ve been downloading those poses. 😀 I just hope my game can handle them on this laptop. I miss my other laptop a lot. Loads 3 in under 2 minutes. Sigh.

I looooved Strange New Worlds! The guy that plays Pike (can’t remember his name) also was the lead in Hell on Wheels which I remembered liking quite a bit when it was on TV.

  4. Most of what I’ve been reading has been uninspiring, Kymber. I need a page turner! My son suggested an apocalyptic series by David Saylor (grabbed one). I will definitely try Elizabeth Peters. You must love her to read so many in one month!

    1. I’d love to know how the David Saylor book is. 🙂 I tried a few Elizabeth Peters books, then found out she is also Barbara Mertz/Barbara Michaels which I’ve read quite a few of. I really liked how humorous they were, and they were fairly quick reads, too.

        1. Hahaha I keep looking at the clock and telling myself, “If I fall asleep right now, I’ll still have four hours.” It’s a countdown like that all night. So, I read.
