I’ve always had a thing for lighthouses, and that photo is stunning.

Me, too. They’re so mysterious. I was so happy when I found that picture.

It is beautiful. There are a lot of photos from the ice covered lighthouse up in Duluth, MN now online too. Amazing how the water freezes on things.

I think it’s amazing, too. I love looking at pictures of the Great Lakes and lighthouses frozen over. I bet the ones in Duluth are stunning!

I loved this post. After a peak, I wrote this piece. Hope you like it: Lighthouses are my favourite buildings. “You stand mighty. The everlasting witnesses of human endeavour. The keepers of many stories yet untold. Mysterious you are as you leave me wondering. So many questions I have to ask.
When did men begin building you, I ask? What did you see and hear, as stone upon stone they built you up into the sky as they brought you into being? How long were the voices of humans heard inside you over the years, before leaving your towering walls? Now you are deserted and alone as you stand, no longer needed, as you succumbed to modernization.
What of you lighthouses raised from the seabed or on islands of rocks far out at sea, who felt the raging winds and waves relentlessly crashing against your mighty walls?
Do you remember the cries of the souls within you that called out to God in their terror? And those who spoke nothing but ached from within as they longed for their families on a distant shore.
Did you take comfort from knowing that there were many lives that your unfailing light saved? Those who would have perished as they were dashed against the rocks. Did you recall the stories of the many thousands who lost their lives before you stood tall and strong?
You will always stand tall in my book, even though your light no longer shines, for you are the noblest of all buildings built by humanity.”

What a striking and evocative share. The image of a frozen lighthouse feels deeply symbolic—steadfast, watchful, and resilient even in the harshest conditions. It quietly speaks of guidance, hope, and endurance, standing firm when the world feels cold and uncertain.
