Dear Diary, life has its ups and downs, doesn’t it? One minute, you think it’s the end of the world, but then something good happens. My dad once said that most of the things you worry about never happen. So, I guess it’s the small percentage of worries happening that keep you on this roller coaster.
They may be a small amount, but they’re enough.
Anyway, both girls made friends and were actually at sleepovers on the same night. Jumping on this opportunity, Jade and I made a date to reconnect.
I didn’t want to make it a night about how I hated that we moved or that I was afraid Vincent and I were drifting apart as friends. Tonight was about us, and us alone.
After dropping the girls off at their friend’s houses, I lit a fire. I wasn’t expecting intimacy, but I was hoping.
Sitting back on my haunches, feeding the flames a little more kindling, and watching them grow higher, I thought about the first time I met Jade. We were careless teens who didn’t know anything about life or where it might take us. Everything about her caught my eye back then… the beauty of her skin, her soft curves in those jeans, the brilliance of her smile, and how it lit her eyes up.
Her eyes. That’s what really hooked me in those early days. You know, it’s because I could see the kindness in her soul. The depth. Now, I’m not a guy that knows a lot about that sort of thing, but I want to. Not a day has gone by where I didn’t want to drown in that pool with her.
Finally, she came out of the bedroom, joining me by the fire.
“It’s beautiful,” she said, her voice soft and low.
“So are you.” I knew that was the obvious thing to say, and probably cheesy, but I meant it.
I took her hand and led her to the couch where we sat together. My muscles were tense, my whole body rigid as I kissed her hand. Was I placing too much importance on this moment? It had been so long since we connected, I wanted to know every inch of her again.
She scooted closer to me, and it seemed like her eyes were telling me the same story that was in my heart.
My fingers trembled as I cupped her cheek in my hand, running my thumb along the edge of her lip. Pricks of electricity ran through me.
“I’ve missed you, baby.”
She nodded, holding my face in her hands, and our lips touched.
We took our time that night, savoring every touch.
An Excerpt from the Diary of Georgia Seaforth
Dear Diary, when mom told me she was pregnant with Sophie, I got super excited to be a big sister. I’d been lonely up until then. What I didn’t know was that our age difference would sometimes be a problem. From the time Sophie graduated to a big girl bed, we’ve been sharing a room. It hasn’t been all roses either.
Like when she has a nightmare at two in the morning, I’m the one she comes to, not Mom or Dad. Or when I trip on little kid toys and stub my toe. It comes with the territory.
Our new house has four bedrooms, one for my parents, one for Grandpa George, one for me and Sophie, and one for the computer. At our old house, the computer was out in the open so Dad could watch what we were doing. Now that it had its own room, he was even more strict with it. I wasn’t allowed to have any social media accounts. It drove me crazy that I was supposed to be meeting other kids, but I couldn’t even friend them on Facebook.
Anyway, I digress. (I try to use big words whenever I can. It’s what Mom would do, I’m sure.)
When we moved in, Dad explained we’d still share a room since it’s what we were used to. He really meant since it was what Sophie was used to.
My friend from across the street, Alyssa Hill, couldn’t believe that one, I shared a room with my little sister, and two, I had a loft bed with a castle mural.
“I don’t see what the big deal is,” I said. “I like my sister.”
Alyssa’s nose crinkled in so many places, I thought it would break off. “That’s crazy.”
I didn’t know how to take that. The right thing to do was to stick up for my sister, but part of me felt like I had to agree with Alyssa. I didn’t like that feeling, and I wasn’t sure what to do about it.
“OMG, is that a rocking horse? Do you ride the little horsey?” she laughed.
“He’s my rocking horse, and his name is Bud!” Sophie yelled, her chin tilted upward.
“Oh, and I suppose you love him,” Alyssa said.
When Sophie nodded, Alyssa’s mocking laughter split my eardrums.
It was hard to see Sophie’s expression fall, her chin pointing toward her chest now, and her eyes moistening. My chest burned as a fire rose inside me.
“C’mon, take it easy. She’s just a little girl, and she didn’t do anything to you. So what if she likes her toys? Children are supposed to have attachments to them.”
“You sound like a shrink,” she decided. “Is that what you want to be?”
I paused, unable to decide if she was making fun of me or not.
“I don’t know. What do you want to be?”
“Have you met my parents? I don’t care what I am as long as I’m far away from them. Do you like boys?”
The truth was, I wasn’t allowed to like boys. My dad talked about it pretty often. Whenever the neighbor kid Keith glanced our way, Dad glared daggers at him. On top of it all, Alyssa had a brother. My father forbade us to go to the Hill house, and I could only imagine it was because of Tom Hill, who was only slightly older than me.
“Well? Do you?”
“Um, not really.”
The corners of her mouth turned up until she was smirking at me. “Oh. I see. You’re a lesbian.”
“What’s a lesbian?” Sophie asked.
“It’s your sister,” Alyssa said with her ugly smug sneer.
I wanted in the worst way to punch that look right off her face! Instead, I squared my shoulders, and decided to be calm about this. There was no rule that said we had to be friends. Sure, she was popular and connected, but you know what?
She could kiss my ass!
Or, (in case my dad sees this), she could just go home.
After I marched her to the front door and slammed it behind her, I kind of regretted not knocking her right in the kisser. But then, I’d get the “we’re so disappointed” speech from my parents, and who has time for that? I mean, really?
I thought again about asking for the computer room, minus the fugly carpet.
When I saw Sophie’s lower lip shake at the thought of being alone, I decided to wait.
Seems like life is trying to show me how to be a big sister. I realize as a teen, it’s my prerogative to rebel, but I don’t think I will just yet.
Until next time,
Geeg xxoxo

Girl, I gotta say, first off, you’ve come a LONG WAY, BABY in your picture taking. 😀 😀 I can understand wanting to keep it family friendly but it’s nice to see some tasteful “adult” times, as that’s normal for a healthy relationship. 🙂
Anyway, it was great to see Jade and Kai getting some alone and intimate time. They so desperately needed that.
Oh boy! Poor Geeg. Man, I know what it’s like getting picked on. I was never called a lesbian, but kids can say some hurtful things. But then, what do you expect for the daughter of Horrible Mad Molly? Ugh! Alyssa needs to be turned over someone’s knee and… well, you know what I mean. She needs a mega dose of humility.
I really can’t blame Geeg for wanting her own room. When you get to a certain age, you crave that privacy. I could so relate with her at that age.
Oh, Geej! Sometimes being the big sister means losing no matter which side you choose. :/
Ain’t that the truth? LOL
Love Jade and Kai having some intimacy. The pics were beautiful and I like how you are more comfortable with taking them now. I still remember Memphis and Liev and the CENSORED written on that picture. I know it was partly Memphis, but well, it’s good to see some tastefully shot intimacy. I’m sorry Geeg is getting teased on, but what could you expect from the daghter of that horrible Molly? You see, we had Kara asking who’s Molly and now we have a real Molly and she’s bad too, LOL.
LOLOLOL Oh. My. Goodness. That censored pic!!!! I laugh so hard thinking about it. I’m glad you think this is tastefully shot. You’re right that I’ve gradually gotten more comfortable with intimacy pics.
Great connection you made there with the Molly angle. LOL And, I agree with you that it’s no wonder her daughter would act that way.
Wow… umm… those Hills are something… 😒
Thank you, Nya. IKR? Apple doesn’t fall far from the tree there.
Hardly surprising that Molly Hill’s daughter is also a piece of work. 🙄 Guessing she doesn’t have the best home life. Good on Gigi for standing up for her little sister and for having enough self-confidence to purge bad influences. 😊
Thank you, Louise. ❤️ I agree about how it’s not surprising Alyssa Hill would turn out any differently considering the way her parents run (or don’t run) things. Gigi is a tough cookie. Let’s hope she’ll always be this strong.
I appreciate how much Gigi is standing up for her sister. Alyssa Hill is a piece of work… Not a good friend to have!
Thank you, Raymond. I think Gigi is learning a lot about right and wrong. As for Alyssa Hill, you are right about that.
I’m glad Kai and Jade had some couple time! I know they’re busy, but they can’t let that much time pass again. I snorted when he said he could see the kindness in her soul when they were teens. I was like, you must remember a different Jade cuz *I* remember the girl who did bad things simply because it incensed her parents! LOL I also remember him appreciating that too. Tee hee hee
LOLOLOL Thanks, Jess. Right?!! That’s the Jade I remember, too! hahaha Oh, how time changes the way Kai sees things. I mighta snorted when I wrote that, too. 😂😂
Blinded by love lol
Oh, yes, that’s Kai all over. 😂
Awww so sweet! And hot too – there’s no denying how their night went 😉
As for Alyssa, someone definitely needs to punch her in the kisser. I’m offering. Nasty girl. xx
LOL You go, Caz! Get her! 😂😂 Someday, she will probably bully the wrong person and get punched in the kisser. 😂
Oh, yeah, I think Kai and Jade had a really good night. 😀
Hm, I wonder if Alyssa’s labeling Geeg as a lesbian now and probably at school too will mean that boys won’t make any attempts to date her. Kai would probably like the idea, though, I’m sure.
Thank you so much. Kai would love that, wouldn’t he? lol Except he’d probably be really steamed that Alyssa is bullying his daughter. Today’s interaction between the girls will probably have some long-term consequences.
Wow! Im so proud for Gigi to stand up to Alyssa with her popular connections and bratty attitude. I bet if Alyssa had her way, she’d probably make gigi bully her own sister (alongside herself). I hope gigi managed to make some good friends before this happened. I can already see alyssa trying to ruin gigi’s life in any way possible what with being kicked out of the house.
Once Kai and Jade are done, I sincerely hope and wish that gigi shared this moment with her parents. She deserves a medal for making the hard but right choice.
Thank you so much. I bet you’re right about Alyssa wanting Gigi to bully Sophie with her. I think you’re also right that Alyssa will try to ruin Gigi’s life at school especially because of how this interaction went.
I hope Gigi shares what happened with her parents, too. Hopefully, she does.
I see the Hills’ stupidity is hereditary, although, with a parent like that, the kids don’t have much of a chance.
Kudos to Kai and Jade for not neglecting their alone time.
Thank you, Violincat. 🙂 Yeah, it seems the apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree. I agree the kids don’t stand much of a chance in that family.
Yes, they finally reconnected in a meaningful way.
I love Geeg, she’s a good big sister. Kai and Jade should be proud of her, though I think she might be in for a rough time at school- kids can be so mean.
Thank you. Jacquie. I’m glad you love Geeg. I think her parents should be proud of her, too. You’re right about school, and how kids can be mean. Hopefully, she’ll be okay.
Good for Geeg! I was going to say that a person like that is not a friend, that’s not how friends treat you, but Geeg figured that out herself!
Thank you, Cathy. I agree. 🙂 I think Geeg was feeling some peer pressure there but she did the right thing regardless.
Alyssa possibly needs more therapy time than her parents or the other neighbors. While I have nothing against Geeg becoming a therapist should that be her career path. I hope that none of the neighbors end up as her clients.
She did an excellent job holding her temper in check.
As to the romantic night, chimes or safety precautions. 😉
Oh and I wouldn’t be surprised if Mrs Hill did get a glimpse and is feeling completely confused by the example of a loving relationship.
Thank you, mama dragon. I agree with you about Alyssa needing the most therapy time. And, oh boy, if Geeg became a therapist! Hopefully, none of the neighbors will need therapy by then. lol
Mrs. Hill and the window! You might be right about that! 😀
I’m so glad Kai and Jade had some adult alone time. That’s what helps keep a marriage healthy among all the stress of jobs and trying to be good parents. ❤️❤️❤️.
And I do not like Alyssa one bit. She’s cruel. But then teens tend to be that way. I don’t know if she will get better as she gets older or if she’s that way cause her parents are a mess. But she hurt Gigi’s feelings and didn’t even seem to care. I’m glad she’s being protective of her little sister. Good for her. ❤️
Thank you, Audrey. You’re right about keeping a marriage healthy. It was long overdue. ❤️ Alyssa is cruel, it’s true. Is it because she’s a teen or because her parents are a mess? Good question. Maybe we’ll find out more in the Meet the Neighbors series.
Not gonna lie: I thought Mrs. Hill would be watching Kai and Jade through the window. YACK!
Poor Sophie! I wanna scoop her up and hug her! And Gigi needs to get over her attitude. My twin sister and I shared a room for 22 years until we moved into the house my parents and I still live in now.
Don’t even get me started on that blonde brat. She’s probably like that because she knows her mom has an obsession with Kai.
LOL Thank you, Hilly. I didn’t even think of that (Mrs. Hill watching through the window). You should be writing this story. LOLOL 😀 Awww I wanna hug Sophie, too. It’s not easy being the little sister when you’re so much younger. Gigi is in a tough place; she wants to fit in, but also protect her sister. You just might be right about Alyssa (the blonde brat 😀 lol).
hahahaha, I never even thought of that! Brilliant Hilly! We should have thought of that Kymber!!!
IKR? I clearly was off my game. 😂
Oh my gosh, I feel so bad for GEEG because school is going to be a nightmare for her. I know because my son, who is also not gay, went through this exact same thing! Poor Geeg! But PROUD of her for stepping up and choosing her sister over the popular girl! Way to go. So grown up and it shows Kai has done a good job raising these kids. Okay Jade too. But most Kai! I love that you are showing the difficulties they are going through so we can also see it through the eyes of the kids.
Thank you, Bee. I know what you mean about school being a nightmare. I like what you said about Kai doing a good job raising the girls (and Jade, too lol). With the way Kai grew up, who knew he’d be such a good dad?
