To Whom it May Concern

Hello and happy timezones, my friends. This evening, I had a comment land in my spam box from someone who can’t figure out how to unsubscribe from this site. She threatened me with litigation and told me to speak to my lawyer all because she thinks there is no possible way she can unsubscribe from booomcha.com.

Because I have no idea who she is and her email does not even show up on my list of subscribers, I am putting instructions here for her…

Thank you again, friends. I’m sorry for any snarkiness that may have offended your sensibilities. Let’s move on, shall we?

May you all have a happy weekend!

Thank you so much for reading, liking, lurking, and commenting! You are important!

  1. OK, granted WP should make it a little easier to unfollow a blog (and fix the rando unsubscribe bug), BUT… that seems like a wee tad of an extreme response.

  2. Holy Smokes, Kymber! I can’t in my wildest imagination imagine anyone threatening you because they can’t figure out how to unsubscribe. It’s actually laughable. Come to think of it, I can’t imagine anyone wanting to unsubscribe because this is one of the nicest and safest places on the internet. I get your posts through Google gmail and when I read your post at the top right corner in the email is a conspicuous unsubscribe link. I agree with everyone, this was spam and likely a little fishing expedition from a hacker. If it was only text and no link or images and you didn’t reply directly, you are likely safe. Finally, how you handled this was the classiest thing I’ve ever seen. NO hate or retaliation, just a little nudge out the door they couldn’t find for themselves. I’m impressed with your professionalism and Boomcha!

    1. Hi there, friend! You are so sweet to me. I didn’t respond, nor did I click on anything, so I’m sure I’m safe in that department.

I’m glad you liked how I handled it. I was afraid I had come off too snarky. LOL

  3. A spammer, for sure! Delete and move on… If they show up again, and their IP address is the same, you can always block that. Trouble is, IPs change all the time.

  4. It sounds like spam, Kymber, but sorry you have to deal with it. I forget to check my spam, but when I do, I’m amazed at all the junk. Then again, I’m not surprised. This is the tech world we live in. Anyway, moving on is the best attitude. 💞🥰

    1. Thank you, Lauren. That is sound advice; moving on.

I think you’re right that it is spam. It sort of threw me when I first saw it. Now, I am just laughing a little to myself. 💞

  5. I think this is spam, Kymber. Sometimes, I have an issue where I have to refollow blogs but never to unsubscribe. Anyway, tell her to sue WordPress because it’s their fault she can’t unsubscribe. LOL ❣️

  6. It’s probably spam, but still – there are so many people on WordPress.com that have no idea how the platform works. Either with writing a blog or subscribing to it. Still, it’s great that you shared this with everybody. I’m thinking of doing the same – again.

  7. Dear Kymber, this is spam and you shouldn’t give it any attention, nor let it ruin your day or even Xmas. Ludicrous. Have a wonderful Sunday 🌞

      1. If you someday have time and interest it would be great if you write a poem about sunset, its colors, the moment when the day turns into evening and how the some character feels it (a little boy or girl or deer etc) I loved that 😊 But just if you feel it’s okay someday. Happy Sunday 🐱

  8. Seriously? I can unsubscribe from your site? I can’t sue? Sounds to me like the grinch is visiting you this season.
Mucho peace Kymber, Here’s to moving on without her.

  9. My dog ate one of my meatballs. He’ll better get a lawyer. It’s going to be a big lawsuit. Oh wait he didn’t do it. I ate the meatball myself. Not only can you easily unsubscribe but the size of the problem isn’t exactly big. It might be a troll harassing you. I’ve seen that before.

  10. She obviously has never actually read an email notification for this or any other site. Right at the bottom is a nifty little link, clearly marked: unsubscribe… And I’ll be willing to testify to that in court!

Much love to you Kymber and to heck with the spam troll

  11. Sounds like this woman has more serious things going on other than unsubscribing to a WP site.
BTW there’s an easy way to unsubscribe while in Reader. When you click the three horizontal dots to view a post, there’s also the option to unsubscribe right there.
It’s likely spam; delete it and try not to worry too much about it ✌🏼

      1. Many a time I find I’m not following a blog that I used to. Then I find them and follow them again. But this lady is something else- threatening to sue you because SHE can’t unfollow you!!!!

        1. LOL Right? She was polite but went straight for the throat without hearing how to do it.

I have found the same problem where I have to refollow blogs because WP has unsubscribed me.

    1. Yes, as a “P.S.” she told me I could face litigation for not having a way to unsubscribe. Then she told me to confer with my attorney. LOLOL

I agree with you. Thank you so much, Carol anne.
