Hello and happy timezones, kind friends! I have greatly enjoyed your responses to my Get to Know You posts!
So, it’s time. Come sit on my porch for a spell. Tea, lemonade and refreshments will be served shortly.
Here are 3 questions! Let’s go!
Round #42:
- Who is the first person you go to when you need comfort?
- What is one thing you are constantly losing?
- What was the one thing you could never learn how to do no matter how hard you tried?
Here are my answers:
- The Mister. He just gets me.
- My mind. Just kidding. I’m always losing my phone.
- Snow ski.
And now, it’s your turn! If you don’t want to participate, no problem! I’m just glad you’re here. A hello would be fantastic, though! Of course, lurkers are always heartily welcome, too. xo
Thank you so much for reading, liking, lurking, and commenting! You are important!

Who is the first person you go to when you need comfort?
My mom. Thank God for modern communication. Second comes my daughter and hubby, it depends on what has happened that needs comforting 🙂
What is one thing you are constantly losing?
My time! Since the accident I feel like the days just rush by, in slow motion. Sounds crazy, doesn’t it? But I can’t seem to get anything done.
What was the one thing you could never learn how to do no matter how hard you tried?
Rollerskating! Ice skating was easy, but with wheels? Geez, I looked like the worst scenario you can imagine on hidden camera – legs and arms spread, butt out and finally tipping over! Until I gave up, my body and pride not able to take more 😀
For comfort, my hubby and my cat.
I don’t lose specific things, however, I put things where I think I will remember where I put them and then I forget.
I tried to learn to ice skate – nope, not for me. LOL
Have a great day, Kymber. 💗
I should have included my cats, too. 🙂
That happens so easily!
Ice skating is hard. 😀
Thank you for playing, Eugi. Have a great Friday!💗
My pleasure, Kymber! 💗
For comfort I guess I’d say hubby. Or my cat. It’s a tie some days.
Can’t think of anything I’m constantly losing. Or maybe I lost whatever it was and then forgot about it.
Same with snow skiing. Hubby and Son #1 are both naturals, but Son #2 and I are better snow tubers, lol. I tried skiing several times, but never moved past the green slopes and even those were a struggle for me.
It’s a tie some days! LOLOL I love it!
I think it’s the latter; or at least for me, that would be the reason. lol
Girl, I fell on my face when I grabbed the rope to go up the bunny hill. LOLOL
Thank you for playing! Happy Friday!
Who is the first person you go to when you need comfort? Definitely my wife.
What is one thing you are constantly losing? Patience with telemarketers. I hate when they call. Fisher Investments keeps calling, but I was pretty mean the last time, so hopefully, they stopped.
What is the one thing you could never learn how to do, no matter how hard you tried? Play guitar. I can’t even get the instrument in tune.
That’s great, Edward!
Patience for telemarketers. I’m the same in this area.
I know what you mean! I wish I could play guitar.
Thank you for playing! Happy Friday!
You’re welcome, and Happy Friday to you as well.
Thank you, Edward!
Love this… Great answers.
Who is the first person you go to when you need comfort? My wife – She is not only my Best Friend but my Biggest supporter.
What is one thing you are constantly losing? I have to agree with you, My Mind but also My Self-Esteem.
What was the one thing you could never learn how to do no matter how hard you tried? Have courage, feel like I am Worthy and Preach .
That’s awesome! I love seeing strong marriages.
Oh, yes, the self-esteem. I misplace that a lot, too.
I don’t know about these… I think you exhibit all of them. 🙂
Thank you for playing! Happy Friday!

“I was hoping I would catch you before you set off for the next village. My name’s Elyssa, by the way, and I was sent to find you.”
“Mm, hello Elyssa. My, I must say your timing is quite excellent. I was just about to set off for the next village as you came in. So here I am! You’ve found me!”
“Yes, I can see that,” she says as she gazes at his big bushy eyebrows.
“Who did you say sent you?”
“Oh, I didn’t, but since you insist, I’ll tell you anyway. The unicorn sent me.”
The wizard looks at the girl, grabs a stool, slowly sits down and stares at her for a moment. “Mm. Come! Sit with me. You did say, unicorn?”
Elyssa climbs onto a nearby stool. “I said, the unicorn, actually. You know what I said so don’t ask me which unicorn because you already know there was only ever one in this land. You also know I have been sent to request something from you.”
“Yes, yes, of course you’re absolutely right, but how can this be? I became the shepherd of Geo when the unicorn lay dying many years ago. She told me to take her horn before burying her and to keep it safe because one day it would be needed.” He pauses.
“She also said that one day someone would come and ask me for it and I was to not question the request and simply hand it over in good faith.”
“Yet now you seem doubtful, why is that?” responds Elyssa.
“I do not doubt the unicorn’s wisdom, my child, and of course I will do her final bidding. It’s just that this was spoken to me so many years ago and you are but a child. How can this be?”
“This is why, dear wizard, she said to hand it over in good faith.” Elyssa touches the wizard’s hand and smiles up at him, her bright eyes look directly into his.
The wizard asks Elyssa to accompany him. As they leave the inn, he automatically wants to head for the next village, but Elyssa points to the road from whence he came, and he realises that they need to go back to his home.
“There is no use in going to the villages,” Elyssa says. “They are all empty. You must first fulfil the unicorn’s request and then head for the last mountain range.”
The wizard thinks about the days he will be set back and is about to object but thinks better of it. There is no way around it. He has to give the unicorn’s horn to the girl. He had made an oath and was bound by it. So, he heads back to his home where the unicorn’s horn hangs over the fireplace.
The wizard has never travelled with a companion before and finds it quite interesting. Elyssa seems to have a natural knack for talking and soon he finds that there isn’t much need for asking questions. She seems to know exactly what he wants to ask and explains things in a very simple but beautiful manner, mixed with exclamations about the clouds, trees or mountains as they pass them by.
Many a time the wizard’s bushy eyebrows rise as he nods his understanding. There are lots of “Mms” and “Ahs” along the way as he wonders at her simple yet very effective approach of explaining about the most complex manner of things.
Due to the fine weather and pleasant conversation, the days seem short, and they make good pace. They make only a few stops along the way each day to eat, rest, and refresh. In no time at all, or so it seems to the wizard, though it is the eve of the third day, they find themselves entering his hut.
“I’ll put the kettle on and make us some tea.” Elyssa makes her way straight into the kitchen as she says it. Another “Mm” escapes from the wizard as he notices that Elyssa doesn’t need to ask directions to the kitchen.
She’s a strange creature, he thinks to himself. He sits down in his rocking chair by the fire and taps his staff on the floor before he stands it beside the fireplace. As he taps his staff, a small rocking chair appears opposite him and a table in front of it.
Before long Elyssa comes out of the kitchen with a tray laden full of crackers, cheese, grapes, biscuits and cakes. She places it on the table and goes back into the kitchen. She returns with another tray holding a teapot, sugar bowl, milk jug and two mugs, which she also places on the table. Soon, they are comfortably seated beside the fire, drinking tea and munching on biscuits.
After several minutes Elyssa says, “This is really nice!”
“Mm,” the wizard responds as he withdraws his cup from his mouth. They continue eating and drinking until both have had their fill and sit quietly for a moment as they smile at each other.
Elyssa looks up at the fireplace. The wizard follows her gaze. “Ah,” he says. “Yes, that’s the unicorn’s horn.” He reaches up, takes it from above the fireplace and hands it to her. She turns it over in her hands; caresses it as she looks with distant eyes. She then closes her eyes and lets out a small sigh before hanging it around her neck.
The wizard studies her. Something in her manner tells him that she has seen the horn before, even touched it before. He notices the distance in her eyes and almost catches the glimmer of a reserved tear just before she closes them.
“Well, it’s getting late, I suppose we should get some sleep,” he says cheerfully. “We have a much longer journey ahead of us and, much yet to discuss.”
He goes into his bedroom briefly and comes back with hands and arms full of pillows and blankets so high that they hide his face. He drops them in front of Elyssa.
She laughs at him as he straightens his beard and then puts the pillows and blankets together as a makeshift bed on the floor in front of the fireplace. She lies upon the pillows, pulls a blanket over her and smiles up at the wizard.
“Mm. Goodnight,” the wizard says. Seeing that she is happy with her bed, he heads for his own. “Goodnight!” she echoes as he enters his room.
The following morning, the wizard rises to find Elyssa already gone, along with the unicorn’s horn. He picks up the blankets and pillows and puts them away. “She’s a strange creature,” he mutters to himself. “Pleasant and beautiful! Ah, but very strange.”

What a wonderful story! I’m hooked and can’t wait for the next chapter!
Who is the first person you go to when you need comfort? —>I write, or my therapist.
What is one thing you are constantly losing? —>Phone! I have a habit of leaving it in my bed or on top of things that are also black so that it blends in.
What was the one thing you could never learn how to do no matter how hard you tried? —->I have not given up on Spanish yet, but let me tell you, I’ve given up and started again so many times!
Good answer! Writing and speaking to a therapist can be so therapeutic.
Yes I do that, too! It’s downright annoying. lol
Me, tooooooooooooo! I feel your pain! lol
Thank you for playing! Happy Friday!
🙂 Happy Saturday, Kymber. Thanks so much. <3
Hmm… My answers in order are, my wife, my mind, and learning a foreign language. I’ve picked up a few random words here and there in roughly four different languages, but I’m only truly fluent in English.
Your mind, lol. I know the feeling. I’m the same with you as far as foreign languages go.
Thank you for playing! Happy Friday!

Thank you!
This is great! I’ll be right over, Melissa! Thank you for playing!
Awesome answers Kymber! I loved your answers!
Thank you so much, Carol anne! I’m so glad. 😀
My man; after 56 years together, he knows me better than I know myself!
My glasses, even though I have several pair.
Math. Anything beyond the basic functions just never sank in. I still survived!
That is wonderful!
I lose mine, too. What’s annoying is that they’re usually on the top of my head!
Math is hard, that’s for sure.
Thank you for playing! Happy Friday!
Thankfully, my mister excells in math … very useful to have a man in the kitchen who can convert recipes for 6 servings into 2!
Happy weekend, Kymber! 😊
Yes, that is terrific!
Awww. What a great shout out to your mister, Kymber.
Q1: The mister for me too, unless he’s the one causing the headache (lol), and then its my BFF of 55 years!
Q2: I lose random things – a salad bowl, an ankle weight (just one), my coffee cup. Weird stuff.
Q3: Tennis. I have zero hand-eye coordination. 🙂 Utterly useless in that regard.
Thanks for the fun, my friend.
Thank you, Diana! 🙂 He is the best.
Q1: Although your Mister sounds really good, too! And how lovely to have had a BFF for so long.
Q2: LOL Maybe you have a ghost misplacing your items to prank you. LOL
Q3: Oh I know what you mean! LOL My grandpa used to ask me if there was a hole in my racket. haha
And thank you for playing! Happy Friday!
🙂 🙂 Always a joy to play along and read everyone’s responses.
i gave blood and it was enuff.
I see. 🙂
My wife
I used to keep losing my glasses but then I had new lenses implanted and I don’t need them anymore.
3.Poker. Can’t for the life of me figure out how to win.
That’s good! 🙂
And that is wonderful! My mom did that and she is so happy now.
Me neither. Apparently, I have a lot of tells, too. lol
Thank you so much for playing! Happy Friday!
😊

Hi Kymber, my first port of call is also my hubby, TC, unless it’s him I’m mad at. I also always lose my phone and can spend a lot of time looking for it. Something I’ve never learned how to do well – that would be read and follow a map.
I’m so glad you and your Mister are close. 🙂 Read and follow a map! That’s me all over. LOL
Thank you so much for playing. Happy Friday!
Very interesting – I’m with you on number one – for number two, I lose my cups of tea! And for number three – roller skating.
Oh no! Lost tea! 🙂 I bet when you find them, they’re cold. ♥
I love roller skating. Well, I used to. It’s not easy to get the hang of, though.
Thank you so much for playing. I really appreciate it!
I’m with you for questions 1 and 2. Having been married for over 51 years, who else would I turn to? 😀 And yes, I’m constantly misplacing my phone in the house. I use the landline phone (we’re dinosaurs!) to call it and follow the ring. 🙄 I tried to learn Greek before our trip to Greece in 2013, but failed miserably. Old brain! Plus, it’s whole different alphabet! 😲
Yes, it makes sense after so many years (congratulations, btw) that you would turn to each other. That’s lovely.
That pesky cellphone! lol
I think Greek would be difficult to learn. But I’m not great at learning other languages. I mostly know a few phrases. lol
Thank you for playing!
My angel
My glasses
Cartwheel
Short and sweet. I like your answers! 😀
Thank you for playing and Happy Thursday! Great to see you!
Likewise, Kymber 🙂
Fun questions! I like your answers, too. I’ve never tried skiing of any kind.
1. my husband, because he’s always here.
2. I’m always losing silverware, spoons, forks, knives. They probably accidentally get thrown in the trash, and then we are down to very few and have to buy more.
3. I never could learn how to hula-hoop. I might have gotten it to go around a couple of circles but then it would fall down. 🙂
Thank you! Skiing was not a good experience. lol
Thank you so much for playing! Happy Thursday!
Well hello Kymber! Yes this ol’ dawg is once again lurking around your site looking. I will be back later today to post my answers, have a great day my friend! 🙏✌️🐕
You lurk all you want, Dawg. I don’t mind at all and encourage it. ♥ Thank you so much for leaving a comment. It’s great to see you.
Happy to be back from the dark side my friend.
Blessings to you, my friend.
Not a person, but my dogs.
Car keys & phone
How to whistle for anything longer than three notes
Dogs are people to me. lol So are cats. I call them my children. 🙂
Yes, for sure! I lose them, too.
LOLOLOL I’m laughing because my Mister whistles beautifully and I can barely get anything out when I try.
My mister is my best friend also.
I think that is wonderful. ♥
I’ll say my wife. Almost 40 years married, and December 7 is the 40th anniversary of our first date. But very close behind her would be a couple of our cats. And I have a really good pastor, right now, as well. But my wife would be first.
Probably my phone. I’ll set it down somewhere and leave it, then not remember where I set it down. Like you, though, I also feel as though I’m constantly losing my mind.
I’ve never been able to learn to play the opening guitar lick to Rush’s “The Spirit of Radio.” For me, that is the most awesome opening song lyric in the history of ever. And I’ve never quite been able to master it. I can play it on a keyboard, though! LOL!
40 years almost! That is worth celebrating every day! 😀 December 7… that is so lovely. I love that the cats and your Pastor are on your list, too.
LOL Like minds, you and me. LOL
I need to listen to Rush. It’s been a while. Keyboard is good, though! 😀
Thank you so much for playing! Happy Thursday!
Q1: My wife. She gets me like nobody else.
Q2: My mind. I tried “Lost & Found” once😊
Q3: To be “normal”. Now, it’s fine, but in the past I always tried to be mainstream. Just doesn’t work for me 😉 I’m happy on the fringes.
Have a marvellous day Kymber 🌞
Q1: I know how that is. 😀
Q2: LOLOL I hope you find it again. 😀
Q3: I like being on the fringe, too.
You, too, Chris! Thank you for playing!
Skiing. My one attempt ended unceremoniously before it even started 😄
LOL That is so me! I fell going UP the bunny hill, hanging on to the rope as it pulled me.
Nice! Practicing for water skiing it sounds like! lol
I got hit by a car on a cross country trail.
Long story 🙄😄
Oh no! That’s horrible! When I was a teen, I accidentally hit a car with my bike in an intersection. Long story, too. And nothing to do with skiing. LOL
Ultimately, mine didn’t bave much to do with skiing either. And there may have been alcohol involved 🤷
LOL This, I gotta hear! 😀
When I am not absolutely dying and struggling to breathe, I’ll recap it lol
Oh dear. Feel better soon, my friend.
Thsnk you Kymber. Slowly but surely 🙏
