Get to Know You #36

Hello and happy timezones, kind friends! I have greatly enjoyed your responses to my Get to Know You posts!

So, it’s time. Come sit on my porch for a spell. Tea, lemonade and refreshments will be served shortly.

Here are 3 questions! Let’s go!

Here is round #36:

  1. What type of food would you NEVER eat?
  2. What is your go-to movie?
  3. Whatā€™s the last thing that made you laugh out loud?

Here are my answers:

  1. Any organ meat. I just threw up a little in my mouth writing this.
  2. Rosemary’s Baby. I know, weird. LOL
  3. The other day, The Oldest Little asked my mom why she was taking pills?

Instead of waiting for my mom to answer her, she said, “Is it because you’re old?”

She’s a girl after my own heart. LOL

And now, itā€™s your turn! If you donā€™t want to participate, no problem! Iā€™m just glad youā€™re here. A hello would be fantastic, though! Of course, lurkers are always heartily welcome, too. xo

Thank you so much for reading, liking, lurking, and commenting! You are important!

  1. I like your answer to question 3! My answers:
    1. Haggis
    2. “Princess Mononoke”
    3. A meme that I saw a few days ago. It had a photo of an owl, with the text ā€œIf you make any more owl jokes, owl kill you.ā€ Yes, I’m that simple šŸ™‚

    1. LOL Thank you, Dave.
      1. Never had it, nor would I try it either. LOL
      2. Hmmm I don’t know this. I’m looking it up!
      3. LMAO!!!! That is so hilarious. I’m easily entertained, too. LOL

Thank you so much for playing. Your answers were Terrific!

  2. Of course I will participate again. Don’tĀ“’t know when it will be published, but sometime next week.

I just mostly wanted to say that I love the new them. It loaded so much faster for me as well.

  3. Wow such a lot of people who don’t eat organs. Well, I don’t like liver, I tried lambs brains when I was a teen. They weren’t terrible but I wouldn’t recommend them. I do like steak and kidney pie or pudding though I haven’t had it in years. My sister won’t eat kidney. I’ve never had sushi, I don’t think I’d like it. I don’t like salty or slimy foods either. Here are my answers.

  4. What type of food would you NEVER eat? Sushi, anything with broccoli or cauliflower.
What is your go-to movie? It depends on my mood. Reliably, it’s either Star Wars (aka Star Wars – Episode IV: A New Hope) or Raiders of the Lost Ark. (Superman from 1978 is an also-ran)
Whatā€™s the last thing that made you laugh out loud? Douglas Adams’ The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy

    1. I like all of those. LOL Well, I don’t eat raw fish, so it has to be fish free.

Those are terrific choices for go-to movies!

      I haven’t seen that but I’d like to. šŸ™‚

Thank you, Alex, for playing! Happy Friday!

      1. There are several different formats of the Hitchhhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy:
        1. The original BBC Radio series
        2. The five novels of the hilariously misnamed Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy Trilogy
        3. The 1982 TV adaptation
        4. The 20009 movie adaptation.

An aside: Did you notice that all of my “go to” movies have scores by John Williams?

  5. I agree with the others about organ meat. I also will not eat anything that wiggles and I hate stewed tomatoes
Dirty Dancing is my go-to movie
My cat makes me laugh out loud
    Happy Thursday, Kymber! šŸ˜‰

    1. I don’t like any of those things either, Eugi. Blech.

That is a terrific go-to movie! “Nobody Puts Baby in a Corner.”

That’s a great answer! Of course your cat does. šŸ˜€ šŸ˜€

Happy Friday, Eugi! Have a great weekend, too!

  6. I agree on the organ meat. Also add whipped yellow squash to that list. When I was a kid I was at a banquet and my parents were at the head table. This huge man string next to me forced me to eat the yellow squash. I doubt that he knows he is the author of many nightmares about yellow squash.
Go to movie is Apocalypse Now
I laughed out loud at a cartoon yesterday.

    1. Hi, John!

Oh no! That sounds just awful! I wouldn’t like it either if that were the case.

Great movie there! The Mister likes that one a lot, too.

      Must’ve been a very funny cartoon! šŸ˜€

Thank you so much for playing!

  7. This is awesome, Kymber! Here are my answers:
    1. What type of food would you NEVER eat? Iā€™m with you on organ meats; I canā€™t stand them. Iā€™ll still have PTSD from when I was a kid and was forced to eat liver.
    2. What is your go-to movie? Band of Brothers, based on Stephen E. Ambroseā€™s book. Not a movie per se, but a miniseries.
    3. Whatā€™s the last thing that made you laugh out loud? A joke that my son told me two days ago.
“Why couldn’t the two cows get along?
Because they had beef with each other!”

    1. Thank you, Edward! Glad you liked my answers!
      1. I feel ya’ on the PTSD from liver! My grandma gave me that one time to eat. Blech!
      2. I don’t think I’ve seen Band of Brothers, but it sounds for sure like something The Mister and I would like. We’re looking it up!
      3. LOLOL Your son is hilarious!

Thank you so much for playing!

      1. If it helps, it’s an HBO miniseries from 2001. It has a 2010 bookend titled “The Pacific,” which is based on a project that Stephen E. Ambrose planned to do with his son Hugh, but never got to do before his death from lung cancer in 2002. Hugh wrote the book on his own, then teamed up with Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks for the miniseries. Of course, he didn’t write the scripts…the writers at Hanks’ studio Playtone did, but he was one of the miniseries’ consultants. Sadly, he, too died from cancer not many years after “The Pacific” aired on HBO.

  8. I’m with you on the organ meat! Also any raw meat, raw fish, wild game, nuts or eggs. Those last two are because of allergies. Rosemary’s Baby was an excellent film! šŸ™‚ There are so many movies I can watch multiple times and never get tired of: Easy Rider, Moonstruck, The Godfather series, Rocky series… Your granddaughter has a great sense of humour! šŸ˜€ Last thing that made me laugh was a political cartoon in our local paper.

    1. Thanks, Debbie, and I’m with you on any raw meat. Ewwww.

I thought Rosemary’s Baby was perfect. šŸ˜€ Have you read the book? It’s also very good.

I love the movies you listed.

LOL Thank you! šŸ˜€ When my son was 5, he was correctly my grammar (eg: “silent…” “nnno mama, it’s silentLY!). lol Lilly is 5 and she is a comedian. LOL

Sounds like a great cartoon! šŸ˜€

Thank you so much for playing! I loved your answers!

  9. Your answers cracked me up, especially the last. OMG, so funny. And the first got me laughing too.
    Here are mine:
    1. Insects, especially live ones. I’m usually not squeamish, but….
    2. Cinema Paradiso (with subtitles) – my favorite foreign film ever,
    3. Some of the “They’re Eating the Cats” dances/videos. People are so creative.

  10. You’re right about organ meats … yuck & never! Otherwise for me it would be applesauce. I gag just thinking about it. I love apples, but that grainy squishy applesauce is the worst. Mostly because when I was a kid I had to take all my medicines mixed in with applesauce.
Movie – I haven’t been to one in years, but mostly I’d like scary ones. Snakes on a plane movie was really good.
Funny thing? I always laugh and sometimes out loud at bloopers in print, such as signs you see with wrong spellings, or words. Also I notice typos and things on TV and on computer things. All this just cracks me up and I have to laugh. šŸ™‚

    1. LOL Right? Blech! That explains the applesauce problem: taking it with medicine as a child, and the texture.

I love scary movies, too. šŸ˜€ Snakes on a Plane was great. lol šŸ˜€

That’s so funny! Bloopers can be so hilarious! I would LOL, too! šŸ˜€

Thank you so much for playing! Happy Friday!

  11. HI Kymber, I also don’t eat any organs. I have to be very careful with cheese and am allergic to nuts. Generally, I have a problem stomach. My go to movie, well, I don’t have one of those, but my favourite Disney movie is Alice in Wonderland. I love the song about painting the roses red. When did I last laugh out loud, probably on Tuesday when my sisters where here. They say the funniest things.

    1. I know about problem stomachs, Robbie. I hope you’re not in a lot of pain.

I love that song from that movie, too. šŸ™‚

I’m glad you and your sisters were visiting each other. So nice. And I’m sure, full of laughter. šŸ˜€

Thank you so much for playing!

  12. Happy Thursday Kymber.

    1) Organ meat, black pudding, white pudding, haggis and any seafood that is not a good looking fish.
    2) Any good sci-fi movie, Dune, Interstellar, Inception, Minority Report
    3) We just got back from two weeks of nearly constant laughter with family. So nice when it all works out.

    Allan

    1. Thank you! Happy Thursday, Allan!

      1) I totally agree. Blech.
      2) Those are great movies to choose from.
      3) That is so great! I’m so happy for you!

Thank you so much for playing! I hope you have a terrific weekend coming up!

  13. What type of food would you NEVER eat? octopus that are still moving

What is your go-to movie? Interstellar

Whatā€™s the last thing that made you laugh out loud? A Huldra (Norwegian forest fairy) using her song to seduce all tourists, men and women (including me), into posting photos of her on social media.

    1. Oh, yes, same here, Thomas. Nothing alive, please.

      Interstellar is a great movie!

LOLOL I bet that was funny! šŸ˜€

Thank you so much for playing! Loved your answers!

  14. Tripes. Just, errā€¦ no way.

Lord of the Rings. Does it sound like Iā€™m repeating myself here?

I was watching a short on YouTube, and we had exactly the same thing happen at my daughterā€™s 9 year birthday/poolparty. There were more kids, the pool was bigger, as were the kids, but come on? The officers that showed up were so apologetic I felt sorry for them, having to answer stupid calls like that. Neighbors can be a painā€¦ I guess it was because their kids werenā€™t invited as they never played with my kids.

    1. Tripes. For real. I agree.

LOTR, you repeat that as many times as you like.

LOL Oh dear, that is a funny short! I’m sorry that happened to you, though. What awful neighbors!

      1. Awful, yeah. You can imagine me trying to explain to the parents showing up to fetch their kids about the “incident”. We laugh about it now, but it was kind of traumatizing for the kids having the police interrupting the fun…

  15. I love Rosemary’s Baby, actually šŸ™‚
I’d never eat monkey, ape, or human meat-that’s for sure.
    Go-to movie? Honestly, no idea.
Well, my parents are amusing in a sad way. Their behavior is classic black comedy.

  16. I’m with you on the organ meat. And beets. I have never had beets that didn’t taste like dirt.
Ooh. My go-to movie . . . depends on the day and mood, but I have several. The Princess Bride, Amadeus, Jurassic Park (the original), V for Vendetta, or Ghostbusters (the original).
A comic shared by a friend on Facebook. I have a couple of friend I can count on making me laugh with puns, memes, and comics. It’s a welcome relief from the political posting wars.

    1. Hi, Jeff!

IKR? My grandma always had pickled beets on the table.

I love those movies and can see why they would be go-tos!

That’s great! I know what you mean about needing laughter through election season. I welcome it, too.

      Thanks so much for playing!
