A Melancholic Tale

A Melancholic Tale

Beneath the moon’s cold glow, he roams,
A prince of shadows, cursed and alone.
His footsteps echo through the night,
As he seeks solace in his endless life.

Red eyes, once aflame and alive,
Now burn with hunger, pain, and strife.
Swift as the wind, he hunts his prey,
Their lifeblood his sustenance, night and day.

Yet deep within, a silent plea resounds,
For love lost, for sun-kissed grounds.
Immortal curse, a lonely plight,
Dracula’s sorrow veiled in eternal night.

  1. Your poetry has always been beautiful and captivating. I was scrolling my email and the first few lines caught my attention. I’m a SUCKer for vampire literature, so this was such a fun read. πŸ’•

    1. LOL Thank you so much for your kind words. When it comes to vampires, I’m right there with you! lol I was thinking about Christopher Lee’s Dracula when I wrote this. lol 🌺

        1. You are too kind. And musicians are important; your work is important. My first round of college, my major was music performance (my other time, was for science and nursing). I loved music theory but it was hard as heck. So, to you, I say, you are a genius! 🌺

          1. That’s interesting, music performance, gets me curious 😊 Science and nursing, now I start to understand why you are so empathetic and understanding and having the ability to feel so deeply. Miss Hawke, much respect for you 🌺🌺

  2. Sad and beautiful. There’s something about the idea of the vampire that still fascinates people. I am working on a short story where Dracula makes (kinda of) a cameo.

  3. Perfect poetic description of a vampire’s life! I just finished watching season two of ‘Interview With The Vampire’, so I’m still caught up in that world. πŸ™‚ Love it! πŸ™‚

    1. Thank you so much, Debbie! 🌺🩷 I haven’t seen season 2 of that show. But I did see the 1st season.

Thank you again. I’m so glad! 🌺

  4. Ha! I first read this in my email so it didn’t show the image of Dracula. I thought for sure I was reading about Cesare’s past life hunting in the garden at night. Then I read the Dracula part. It was a great poem that reminded me of the Vampire movies of old. Whenever I have a spare moment, I lurk on over here to get my literary fix.

    1. I didn’t realize email didn’t have the featured image. That is good to know! πŸ™‚

When I think of it that way, it does sound like one of Cesare’s escapades! Boy do I miss him so much. I’m really fond of what you said as it brought up good memories of my little buddy. πŸ™‚

I’m glad you liked the poem. I was actually thinking about Christopher Lee when I wrote this, although I don’t remember any of the movies where he was sad he was a vampire. lol

I’m so glad you lurk on over here. You’re always welcome. 🌺

      1. You always have a great blog going on. I enjoy how you can cover so many things so well. It’s always a great pleasure to swing by and see what is happening!

          1. And there is the proof of genius. My thoughts just bounce around in my head until I fall out of my chair, or go to sleep. You are able to convert your thoughts into a blog post. I find that truly amazing. I want to learn how to do that someday.

            1. My Pisces INFJ persona likes wandering aimlessly in my inner universe. I always appreciate those who feed my hungry mind. When I get stuck, I ask myself, what would Cesare do? Considering he was the Field Marshall for an Army of Chipmunks, the answer comes quickly. Go take a nap, it’s been a busy day. It works every time.

            2. LOL I’m a Scorpio INFJ. Whatever that means. lol I love your What would Cesare do moment. He was such a good Field Marshall for the Army of Chipmunks. 🌺 Yes, I do believe that would be his answer. πŸ˜€ Happy napping. 🩷

            3. Ah Haa! You project the perfect embodiment of the Scorpio INFJ. INFJ personality seems to match Scorpio and Pisces perfectly. Scorpio is known by its private nature and deep inner world, but also expresses itself in many creative and artistic ways with a touch of deep devotion nearing obsession. Multitasking and many pathways of creativeness is a hallmark of Scorpio. I would say, mystery upon mystery and Get R’ Done work well for most Scorpio. I was very much into astrology from a practical sense because of my work with research and development. Most of us have no idea that Jupiter and Uranus are protectors of earth as their gravitational pull is so massive they deflect most of the more dangerous heavenly bodies careening in our direction. Without these two planets we would look a lot like the moon. Ole Crater Face would be our name instead of The Angry Blue Planet. So it is an intrinsic fact the planets affect our lives, but in unexpected ways. Perhaps, the ancient people were more tuned to the stars and planets than we are today. Regardless, please continue to be your magnanimous and talented self.

            4. I don’t know much at all about astrology, but I think you are definitely right that ancient people were more tuned to the stars and planets.

Well, I enjoyed hearing about this and will admit that sounds like me. LOL

Thank you so much. πŸ™‚ 🌺🩷
