I am a Nurse
I am a nurse.
These hands have delivered babies
And held the hands of the dying.
This brain has double checked the doctorβs math
And titrated nitroglycerin drips.
These scrubs and shoes have worn every bodily fluid
And traveled miles to provide care.
This heart has given comfort during the worst times
And celebrated many patientsβ victories during the best.
These eyes have seen innumerable things that I cannot tell my family
And they have wept for countless patients and their families on the drive home.
This body has been so weary
Yet proud to serve others.
I would not change a thing.
I am a nurse.

This post is forΒ Kevinβs No Theme ThursdayΒ (04/25/24). NTT is my one of my favorite things! Kevin makes such awesome pictures to choose from, and this time, I chose the picture that hit me right in my heart. How could I not choose the nurse?

First published in 2018, I called this a poem. Well, honestly, I don’t know if it is a poem or not. Or what you would even call it. Whatever it is, the emotion behind it is so real to me. Being a Registered Nurse is one of my best accomplishments where I learned so much, and I loved it whole-heartedly.
Here’s to all the nurses and medical people out there!π©·π·πΊ
Oh, and …
β¬ Sidenote: I’m working on Old Stone, however, my mods folder had to be totally redone which is taking a lot longer than I like. I know my Simmer friends will commiserate. lol Stay tuned and happy simming…. β«

Thank you. I wish for your a great Sunday, and may this week treat you well! πΊπββ¬ππββ¬
Being a nurse is challenging but describing something of it by turning them into a poem.. anyway I think it is challenging too. I respect both, great post!
Thank you so much. I appreciate your kind and encouraging words. And I’m glad you liked this. π
Such a beautiful poem! My mother was a nurse. She worked so hard each and everyday to take care of others. I remember once we had a cabinet refinishing company out and the guy was sitting down taking a break. She had just gotten off her shift but somehow noticed something wasn’t right. She immediately got back to work treating this cabinet refinisher who was having a heart attack in our kitchen! Nurses really are true life savers, and I can’t thank people like you and my mother enough.
Both my daughter and DIL are NPβs and being a nurse is a reward but difficult job. Thank you for being a nurse!
You’re so sweet. Thank you. π©·πΈ

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and wonderful poem!!.. as tribute to YOU and all the nurses who do not get the recognition they deserve!.. YOU are true hero’s!.. βHeroes are made by the paths they choose, not the powers they are graced with.β (Brodi Ashton)… π
Hope you have a wonderful Mother’s Day, every day, your path is paved with love and happiness and until we meet again..
May love and laughter light your days,
and warm your heart and home.
May good and faithful friends be yours,
wherever you may roam.

with joy that long endures.
May all life’s passing seasons
bring the best to you and yours!

Thank you, Dutch. Your comments always leave me feeling positive.πΈ
A big hats off to you on being a nurse, Kymber. It’s one of the most difficult jobs in the world, but so important and fulfilling.
I admire nurses so much. It’s not just a ‘job’ it’s a calling and they are by far underpaid. Thank you for sharing your poem with all of us. I could tell it was heartfelt.
A precious piece of writing filled with love and compassion Kymber (whatever you would like to call it.) Unlike any other branch of the medical vocation, my greatest admiration goes to the nursing profession. While other medical professionals may be forgiven for being, ‘brisk and hard with very little bedside manner” true nurses are compassionate, understanding, patient, kind, and gentle. Knowledge and skill are part of the equation, feeling someone else’s pain and fear is everything. My wife, a stage four cancer survivor, and I, have nothing but high accolade for our Irish Medical Professionals who have walked with her on the long road of recovery and constraint of the forces attacking her body and mind. The spectrum of medical care is huge, but for those that suffer – the nurses will be remembered first. Thank you for sharing. Peter-James.
Much respect goes to all the nurses out there π
Wonderful poem, Kymber. Thank you!
