Tell Me a Story!

This is a weird time for us as we deal with our feelings about Cesare’s passing. We miss him so much and the house feels so empty. We’re so glad we have our little Josie-Pye.

The other day, the kids came over with The Littles and we had ice cream and all told our favorite stories about Cesare so that always helps, too.

Thank you for your kind messages, and all your prayers. The Mister and I both appreciate them.

We got a nice card from Exclusively Cats where we have always taken the felines who own us. There was a lovely handwritten note and a little paper heart to plant in his memory in the Spring that must have seeds in it.

I thought this post might help keep our minds off our loss.

Thank you for reading, liking, lurking, and commenting! You are important!

  1. OOPs, I forgot to add my tidbit for the story.
Ben Greystolke, the guy, meets Natalie King in line at the Star Books (pun) while getting coffee before starting her arduous day.
He eyes her and likes what he sees. Their eyes meet and hold for a moment, she smiles and he returns the smile. Then remembers his ex gf who just stormed out of his life the day before. Sadly he turns away from his gaze at this beautiful lady (shakes his head to clear it) and takes his cuppa to mull his thoughts over. He finds a table near the large window and exhales deeply as he sits into the cafe’ chair. He doesn’t notice the hustle and bustle in the cafe’ until a form enters his side view. Glancing up, he sees Natalie holding two cinnamon buns and a large to go cup of coffee…They smile at one another and his heart skips a beat. She hands him a cinnamon bun and sits down across the table from him…

The rest is up to you 🙂 <3 CJ P.S. I’m a sucker for a happy love story 🙂

    1. Humm, the AI Akismet spam reducer killed my message about Cesare. Sorry for your loss of your dear fur baby. CJ

  2. Oh, Kymber! I am so sorry for your loss of Cesare. I so get the lonelyness and sadness of loosing a much loved and adored fur baby. It has only been a few months (Oct 2023) that we mysteriously lost our Rurik (my Service Animal) He was just 5 years.
It is comforting to know that God made the animals before us and though He saved Noah & Family, He had them save 2 of each kind of animal. That means He loves His animals as much as He loves us. I know we will be surrounded by those we have lost before and that He has a plan for all of us and them.
I send HUGE Hugs to you and your family, as it is not just a loss, but a hole that everyone feels. May the tough days be lessened and the future be brighter with Josie-Pye. I know it is big paws to fill. She will be there to comfort you and cuddle.
Again, I am very sorry and send kitty purrs your way from SaMi, our 14 year old Siamese; who has outlived all our other pets so far. We treasure each day with him as, he too, is slowing way down in life.
I’m catching up some, sorry for such a long break in responses. I do read, I just can’t always respond right away.
Your in our hearts <3 Cesare & RU 🙂
    CJ

    1. Hi there! I want to be surrounded by all my animal friends in heaven. It sounds very nice. Thank you so much for your condolences. 🩷🌺 SaMi sounds like such a great friend to have.

No worry about timing of responses. I’m sometimes late, too. 🙂

  3. I’m so sorry for your loss. But don’t worry, one day we will meet again in heaven with those we lost.
I present you the lyrics of a song I love.
We will eventually meet one day
This will not be half finished like this
    We both have gray hair
We will stand like that and look…

    1. Thank you with all my heart. I believe this, too. There are so many I am looking forward to reuniting with.

Your favorite song lyrics put tears in my eyes, but in a good way.

      Thank you again, friend.

  4. Thank you for sharing!!.. sorry about Cesare’s passing but he no doubt has a special place in your heart and with you wherever you go!!.. 🙂

    When tomorrow starts without me
And I’m not here to see,
If the sun should rise and find your eyes
    Filled with tears for me.

I wish so much you wouldn’t cry
    The way you did today,
While thinking of the many things
    We didn’t get to say.

I know how much you love me
As much as I love you,
And each time you think of me
I know you’ll miss me too.

    When tomorrow starts without me
    Don’t think we’re far apart,
For every time you think of me
I’m right there in your heart.
    (Alena Hakala Meadows)

Hope all is well in your part of the universe, your path is paved with peace, love and happiness and until we meet again..
May flowers always line your path
    and sunshine light your way,
    May songbirds serenade your
    every step along the way,
May a rainbow run beside you
in a sky that’s always blue,
And may happiness fill your heart
each day your whole life through.
    (Irish Saying)

  5. Our hearts weep for Cesare. May he suffer no more, although his absence is heartbreaking. Hugs and smooches my Chickiest Chick of them all! Hugs and smooches! 😘💖🐱

    1. Thank you so much, Chickie. 🌷🧡 You are right that he no longer suffers. He was very, very sick. Thank you for the hugs and smooches; I am sending some back to you! And I’m so glad to hear I am the “Chickiest Chick of them all!” lol You always put a grin on my face. May I bring you joy as well, my sweet friend.

      1. You are so very welcome my sweet Kymber. I receive the love in return. And yes girlfriend, you are the Chickiest Chick with a killer swagger! 👗👠💃🏻 Booyah! 🤜🏼🤛🏼

  6. Sorry for your loss. Like you said, it’s like he’s been with us too all this time, almost like we’ve been visiting your house and there is he is. Had to put down three of mine (not all at once thank the gods) so I know how heartbreaking it is. It was the right decision though. <3

    1. Thank you so much. That’s very much how I thought of Cesare, and it’s very much the kind of cat he was. Whenever anyone came to visit, he’d meet them at the door and kind of show them around. lol He was such a good boy. 🌷🧡 I’m sorry for your heartbreak as well, and I appreciate your encouraging words.

  7. So sorry for your loss! I put my cat Anubis on hospice, and it was so hard! I should have put him down sooner, but I loved him so much, I couldn’t let him go. I feel like I caused him a lot of unnecessary suffering. You made the best choice for him.

    1. Thank you, Dawn. 🌷🧡 I’m so sorry about Anubis. I know that was hard. It’s hard for me to think of him being in the ground. I just ache to hold him. I appreciate your kind words and I think you also did the best you could for Anubis. xoxo

  8. We spoke via email, but again, I am so very very very sorry for your loss.

I don’t know what a sim is — what is it?
I think the woman is a powerful lady, maybe a lawyer or a politician!

    1. Thank you, Maryanne. You’ve been such an encouragement to me. 🌷🧡

The Sims is a video game that simulates life. It’s hysterically fun to play. Right now, The Sims 4 is the most current version of the game. The sims in this post are from Sims 4, as is my “simself” (or avatar) I use as my profile picture.

My story “Old Stone” is from an older version of The Sims, Sims 3. I like certain things about the older game more, but it’s glitchy for a lot of people.

When you combine pictures from your game with writing a story, we lovingly call the genre “SimLit” or “SimsLit.” There are a lot of people that tell stories in this manner.

I like what you think about the lady! I could see her as a powerful lady, too.

        1. LOL Yep! 😀 If you look at the main menu on my site, there is a black box with white lettering that says, “SimLit.” If you click on it, it will show you the most recent chapters of all the SimLit on my site. 😀

  9. The first Sim looks like he is determined and headed to a job interview. The second Sim looks like she is nervously awaiting her blind date’s arrival. So sorry to hear about Cesare. Glad you had company to share the memories. Have a good Wednesday. Allan

    1. I can definitely see that in the first sim. He strikes me that way, too. I also think the second sim looks nervous or sad as well. I love your ideas!

Thank you, Allan, for your lovely words. I hope you’re having a good week.

  10. I am so sorry about Cesare’s passing, Kymber. Our pets are like family and it’s hard to take when they leave us. 💖

  11. Here is my sorry attempt at a story, ”
In the icy realm of Crystalvale, Devon Smith, with his sharp gaze and attire that merges street with chic, meets the enigmatic Natalie King, whose elegance is as unyielding as the frost itself. They’re agents on opposing sides of a simmering conflict, tasked to broker peace or risk an eternal winter. Through whispered negotiations and stolen glances, they weave a fragile alliance, finding warmth in a cold world.” Kymber, your way of cherishing Cesare’s memories with loved ones is truly heartwarming. The gesture from Exclusively Cats sounds incredibly thoughtful. Remember, it’s the shared moments and support that light our paths during tough times. Sending love and strength your way, Mike.

    1. This is a great story beginner, Mike! Absolutely fantastic! Would you mind if, at some point, I use that idea? I don’t know if I will, but if I do, I’ll post your summary with it. If that’s okay, that is. 🙂 I even like the name “Crystalvale.”

Thank you so much for your kind words about Cesare. We love Exclusively Cats. They were so kind and helpful during our ordeal. Then to send us a handwritten letter… it was just so nice of them.

      I will remember.

    1. Thank you, Thomas. It still feels sometimes like I can’t breathe when I think of him in the ground. You’re so right about the beautiful memories and stories. We sure have a lot of those, and I’m grateful for the time we had with him.

  12. You and your hubby have been in my thoughts and prayers. I know it hurts the heart. The shattered glass in the background behind the woman indicates to me she has a broken heart that is so shattered it will never mend. Maybe he is the reason?

    1. Thank you, Jan. That means so much to us during this time. My heart feels like it’s stuck in a vise.

I really like how you looked at their backgrounds to determine a story for them. You may have hit on something here; that he is the reason for her broken heart. I love it!

  13. hugs , Kymber….🤗🙏🤍

I am terrible at storytelling but it stands out that (I could be seeing wrong)
the glass is intact in his image yet looks shattered in hers ….🤍

    1. Thank you, hugs for you, too, Destiny. 🌷🧡

I love your observation about the backgrounds behind the sims. I think that’s a really clever way to begin thinking of a story.

  14. I’m sad about Cesare and so feel with you. Last summer I had to let my precious Frida go and still tears flow every now and then.
But then I’m so happy, she gave us so much joy and will always be with us as our other pets, which passed the rainbrow bridge years before. Cesare will be always famous as your brand and a part of your inspiration.
As for the sims you show to us, I look at the background and think the man is trying to stay sober. Maybe he had a time of heavy drinking and clings to water for not to fall in that hole again.
The lady is surrounded by ice. She has a sad look in her eyes, something bad happened to her in the past.
She’s trying to get over it by being cold and ambitious. But her emotions well peak through sometimes.
Maybe she was his wife when he was on his lowest point.

    1. Thank you so much. I do believe you understand, although I’m sad you’ve had to feel this deep grief. That is a lovely way to look at Frida; to remember all the good times. Thank you about Cesare always being a part of my brand. I can’t imagine him not being represented in some way here. The Mister and I have talked about it a few times, and I changed the category from “Cesare the Cat,” to “Cesare and Friends.” That way, I can still write about Josie-Pye or my sister’s cats without having to remove his name. As for the graphic in the footer of this site, I might try to put a halo on his depiction, or angel wings or something. We shall see.

I like how you used the backgrounds the rando sims have in order to help you determine their stories. That’s really clever! And your story idea is amazing! I might have to run with that at some point. 😀

      1. There was something in the posture and the look of the guy, that gave me the idea and I would be flattered to see you use it. I’m looking forward for pictures of sweet Josie-Pye and friends. It’s a big comfort that she’s still there. My favorite picture will always be Cesare with his bow-tie. It belongs to you like your name. In my name my oldest cat named Lieschen is still living on for almost 20 years. Omg, I’m getting old and sentimental. But we’re allowed to be, are we ?

  15. I have always thought of pets as family members – yes, even our goldfish – therefore the loss of a dog or cat is often a cause for deep grief. You know, no one ever really dies who is remembered with love. So, may the love you share with your four-legged companion be your comfort now, and may you be soothed by the knowledge that love’s eternal beauty will shine forever in your heart. Aiva xx

    1. I can’t agree with you more about how important animals are to The Mister and me. We always thought of Cesare as a person, an individual, not just a cat. I agree about the deep grief, too. Thank you for your lovely, kind words, Aiva. I appreciate it so much. 🌷🧡

  16. It took me six years of healing before I felt ready to adopt another after my Persian passed away. Grief is a funny thing. Never let anyone out an artificial timeline on your grief process. Cesare will live within you for the rest of your life, like Tika does with me.

Prayers to you and your family. I’ve been there many times. Mercy and Bella send their love to Josie-Pye.

    1. Thank you for sharing your experience with me, Wendy. It really does help although I’m sorry for the sad circumstance you’ve been through. Thank you about your statement regarding grief. I really appreciate that and agree with you.

We thank you, and so does Josie-Pye. 🌷🧡

  17. I never did recover from my beautiful dog’s passing. I adopted another that required so much attention, I didn’t have as much time to think about his loss. Now, I adore him, too.

    1. I’m sorry about your beautiful dog’s passing. I’m glad your heart was open to adopting another that needed help, though. He sounds like such a wonderful boy. 🌷🧡

  18. I’ve never played the sims game, but here’s an idea for these characters. They are both nurses in a big hospital working the overnight shift. They care for patients, but it’s slow at night and they keep hearing strange noises, so they go investigate … what could it be? 🙂

  19. I love the Sims!! I have it for PC with all the game packs. I can see these characters living the high life, with snazzy careers, the wife in business owning her own stores and the man making inventions in his workshop at home. I can see a house with a piano and a pool where they have parties with their friends and hang out in the hot tub. I enjoy making up characters and watch them do their own thing for the most part… lol

Condolences on your pet as I know how hard it is to lose them. They are family…

    1. Hi, Stella! That is so cool! Do you play Sims 4, then? I have a lot of the packs for that game, but not all of them. The photos above are from Sims 4. 😀 I love your story idea! You just never know when you will see it in use. haha 😀 I enjoy doing the same thing with my characters.

Thank you so much for your kind words. 🌷🧡 You are right about pets being family. Cesare was like a real person to us; a beautiful and funny soul. He was buried a little over a week ago, and my heart still yearns for him.

      1. Yes, I play Sims 4, and I have all the packs. I love the game to be honest with you and seeing how everything works out. My character, Rachel, got married a couple of years ago, even has 2 kids and a house full of cats. She works in the lab, making all kinds of things. Her husband, Keith, is an accountant and works from home, to be there for the children of course….lol I’ve been playing these characters for about 8 yrs now. When I open it up, I get lost in it for hours… it really is time consuming…

You can use my idea, no problem…

I hope the pain of your loss eases soon. 🙏

        1. Wow! That is so cool that you’ve been playing those characters for so long. I love that.

You would be perfect at writing “SimLit.” Some simmers tell stories using pictures from their games, while others just document what’s happening and then they add pictures. It’s really fun!

Have you ever done a challenge like the Hundred Baby Challenge? There’s another challenge where you’re only allowed to control one of the sims in the household while you let the other sims do whatever they’re going to do on high autonomy. I think that challenge is called, “I’m Surrounded by Idiots” or, “ISBI.” Those are so stinking funny! LOL 😀

        2. I meant to also say, thank you for permission to use the idea. I would give you full credit for the idea if I use it. 🙂

And thank you for your support.

  20. Two years ago I we were heartbroken. We had just put our boy “Norman” to sleep. A 17year old pitbull mix who was very special. Six month later in August, we heard about a little puppy who had been left behind, abandoned in the sink of an apartment maintenance room. Today, 1 1/2 years later, Vader rules the house. I smile at Norman’s picture every morning (we have the pictures of our dogs in the bathroom -long story) and I miss him, as I miss all the other dogs we had (and cats) and there were many. The best thing is to give another rescue cat or dog a good home. You have a big heart and part of this heart belongs to animals. They are all unique and special and they help us to overcome the loss.
    We grief because we love!

    1. Your Norman sounds like a well loved fellow. I love that you have Vader now. I think you’re right about giving another rescue cat or dog a good home. The Mister has said as much, too. He said there are other rescues that need our help. I’m not feeling ready yet, but I know the both of you are right. I appreciate you saying I have a big heart. I think a lot of it feels for animals of all kinds.

Thank you so much for your kind words. I needed that. 🌷🧡

      1. Norman was my boy. I wrote this a couple of weeks after we had to let him go (B.V. =Before Vader)
My dog is gone, yet he is still here
watching me cry, making me smile.
        He joined the other ghosts
and there are many -and more to come.
Mourning and grieving, laughing sometimes remembering him young and old -just yesterday.
Love never dies, it stays with us
a comforting thought, nothing is ever lost.
Quiet for the first two weeks,
now I feel like talking and sharing.
Emotions so fragile, mood all over the place
One minute up, the next down again.
Last night we laughed, told stories
about all of them, who we have lost.
Our four-legged friends are part of us
imprinted in our hearts, cherished forever.

        1. That is absolutely beautiful, and every word is true, too. Thank you so much for sharing this with me. You’ll never know how much it has helped.
