Book Review

February Reading Wrap-Up

I read six books in February.
Kind of a frightening cover, isn’t it? lol

I want to read more of the โ€œWitches of Palmetto Pointโ€ series by Wendy Wang since Iโ€™ve read 5 of them. So far, there are 13 books in the series.

I would also like to return to the โ€œAmelia Peabodyโ€ series by Elizabeth Peters.

Another series I started wasย โ€œThe Hauntedโ€ย by Lee Mountford, and I would like to continue reading these books. There are 8 in the series right now, and I am currently reading #5.

There are so many books on my TBR, I want to read them all!

February was a good month! We had record-breaking temperatures that melted the snow, and we even opened our windows those few days! Cesare and Josie-Pye got to sun themselves in the sunroom, and all should have been well in the Hawkes’ nest because we appreciate these little things in life. But my sweet little buddy Cesare is still very ill. In fact, he’s gotten worse. I’ll provide an update after he sees the veterinarian again. Please send him prayers and good vibes. Thank you.

We had a lovely trip to Indiana to visit relatives. More on that in another post, though!

Wherever you are, I hope February was good to you. I would love to hear about it in the comments below.

โ†ฌ I know this isn’t officially the last day of February, but I have a special post coming out tomorrow from the serial Old Stone. Saturday, expect a sweet entry of this story. โ†ซ

Thank you so much for reading, liking, lurking, and commenting! You are important!

  1. Wow, Kymber, you read some dark stuff. What did I read in January. A few poetry books, Interview with a Vampire by Anne Rice, The Sealwoman’s Gift, and I’m now reading The Magic Mountain by Thomas Mann. I also read Staci’s contribution to the Harbor Pointe series and a collection of short stories, The Storm, by ESther Chilton.

    1. Those look like great books! I haven’t read anything by Anne Rice in years. I didn’t realize there were so many in The Haunted series when I started it, and now I feel like I have to finish it. They’ve been pretty good, but I’ve been known to slide a rom-com in there once in a while. ๐Ÿ˜€

  2. Whoa. Those look like dark reads, Kymber. Perfect for February and hiding inside. The cover of Haunted Mother Death is almost too scary to look at. And thanks for the list of series and movies. We’re always on the look out and it seems that we like the same kind of entertainment. Happy March.

  3. Definitely good reading progress. I must admit my reading speeds up/slows down depending on what photo projects/posts I have to work on (and lately, how much shoveling I have to d). Sorry to hear Cesare being ill. Hope he is better soon. Happy Leap Day. Allan

  4. Sure hope things go well with Cesare, Kymber. You named so many movies I’m excited about and some I wasn’t even aware of! I’ve been a Plant of the Apes fan since grade school. I’m planning to see Dune 2 on my own Friday. My rewatch of Dune 1 was even better the second time around.

    1. The Mister and I are chomping at the bit to see Dune 2. I can’t believe we haven’t seen it yet! He’s been working a lot of weekends and doing some home improvements, so it’s hard to juggle things sometimes. My rewatch of Dune 1 was better the second time around, too.

    1. The Mister and I watched it together and thought it was nice seeing Richonne again. LOL ๐Ÿ˜€ What did you think of it? I think episode 3 just dropped Sunday night. We watched it last night.

    1. Yes, same here. ๐Ÿ™‚ I think there are a couple episodes of season 2 now. We started watching season 2, episode 1 last night but The Mister was too tired to keep his eyes open.

    1. Thank you, Kim. ๐ŸŒท

I do a lot of audiobooks. I can listen to them on my phone, slip my phone into my apron pocket, and do all my chores. I used to be a voracious reader of the written word, but I have concentration problems. Audiobooks have worked out really well for me.

  5. Hi Kymber! First things first. Get well head bonks from my two littles to Cesare. I hope everything turns out well for him at the next trip to the veterinarian.

I’ve been on a Stephen King trip for a while now, and though I have two novels and a memoir started, I haven’t muddled all the way through any of them yet. “On Writing” is fantastic, even if a lot to digest.

I started watching my old favorite, “24”, earlier in February, but

    1. I’ll thank my Velcro cat for the early post! As I was saying, I haven’t quite made my way back to Jack Bauer yet.

Best wishes for Cesare and Josie-Pye. ๐Ÿ˜Š
