December Reading Wrap-Up & More!

Happy timezones, friends!

Here is my progress for December:

Woot Woot!

What should I set as my reading goal for 2024? Another 100? Dare I try for 150? Let me know what you think!

I read 10 books in December. I include audiobooks in my list, do you?

I would like to read more of the “Witches of Palmetto Point” series by Wendy Wang since I’ve read 5 of them. So far, there are 13 books in the series.

I would also like to return to the “Amelia Peabody” series by Elizabeth Peters.

There are so many books on my TBR, I want to read them all!

It’s cold here, so it was a movie-watching kind of month. We watched most of the Christmas movies on this list with “the Littles” which was fun.

Movies I still want to see are The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes (I love Viola Davis), & Killers of the Flower Moon with Leonardo DiCaprio Rober Di Niro, and Brendan Fraser.

Some exciting movies are coming in 2024 like The Crow and Nosferatu with Bill Skarsgård, Dune Part Two with Timothée Chalamet, and Florence Pugh (I will watch any movie with Florence Pugh in it), and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. Other movies I’m looking forward to are Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, A Quiet Place: Day One, Beetlejuice 2, Joker: Folie à Deux, and Wicked Part 1.

Ummm…. when am I going to read? lol

What did you read in December, and what was your favorite?

What did you watch and what did you think about it?

One last thing as we wrap up the year, I want to show you a beautiful photo of our sweet Lyra who, like me, is the middle child. She’s the “Middle Little.” lol She’s so precious.

It is with a sad heart that I inform you about my best buddy, Cesare. We almost lost him and we’re currently nursing him back to health. He has a rare illness and it may take as long as 18+ months of treatment. According to our veterinarian, he has a 50% chance of a full recovery. In her many years as a cat doctor, she has only seen this one other time, and that cat had treatments for 2 years and only partially recovered.

The Mister and I would ask you for your prayers and good vibes. Thank you so much. We love him like a child.

Thank you so much for reading, liking, lurking, and commenting!

  1. That is a lot of books. As a husband, seeing my wife reading that one book might make me a little nervous. 😁Happy Wednesday Kymber. Allan

  2. Your reading list is filled with quite a variety. Compared to you, my reading list seems quite small. I’m finishing up a biography about FDR and Eleanor during the war years (by Doris Goodwin Kearns), and I picked up David Baldacci’s The Christmas Train last month.

  3. Awww. Your middle-little is such a smile-generator! She’s adorable. A fun bunch of reads and entertainment. I’m glad to hear that your holidays were full of fun and time relaxing together. Wishing you a wonderful 2024, Kymber. Hugs.

  4. So sorry to hear about Cesare, Kymber – sending positive vibes and lots of hugs your way. Hope the treatments take effect quickly. And I always include audiobooks in my reading. Happy New Year!

  5. I’m currently reading two books, one is so good I can’t put it down.
It’s called “The New Girl” by Harriet Walker. I can’t wait to finish and give this young author a glowing review. It’s a few years old, published in 2020 and she nails the complexities of women. It’s one of those books you just can’t imagine what is going to happen next.

  6. I am sorry to hear about Cesare, and hope he will be okay. I’m not an avid reader except online and sometimes my Kindle. Your accomplishments for 2023 are amazing.

  7. I think 150 books is maybe too many. I read only 50. I am sorry to hear about Cesare. I wish him the best of health. Our Pug Daisy isn’t doing too well either. Happy New Year to you and your family.

  8. First of all Kymber, what an amazing list of accomplishments for 2023. How sweet. I can’t comment on how many books you should read. With all of the unexpected things that came up this year, I was only able to read 28. God bless ya ChickiePotPie! 📙📚📗 Praying for your precious feline. 😸 We are hopeful that he will have a full recovery. Happy New Year my friend! 🥰🥂😍🎆🥳

  9. Impressive list of books and movies! BC (before computer) I was an avid reader. Now, there are piles of unread tomes everywhere, including the Kindle. I still read a lot, but mostly articles online. Your little Lyra is adorable! I’m so sorry about Cesare. Best wishes for him to have a full recovery and for you and your family to have a healthy and happy 2024!

  10. Oh my, I don’t know when you find the time for all of that! I’m currently reading Run Away, by Harlan Coben-it’s good. And before that I read Verity, and before that Big Little Lies. I don’t know if that’s all I read this month, because Libby doesn’t show me that, and anyway, I mostly read at night until I’m falling asleep, and occasionally, I’ll allow myself a little time in the early am.
I watched Big Little Lies after reading it, wow! It was awesome. They should make a movie out of Verity, it was sooo good!
So sorry about your kitty, I pray she makes a full recovery. ❤️
Happy New Year, May u meet all your goals!! 🎊🎆🥳🥂

  11. Not a reader here. But I did see some of the classic Christmas movies
Miracle on 34th Street…how beautiful was Maureen O’Hara
    Love Actually
    Scrooge…1935 with Alistair Sim
    Mr. Magoo’s Christmas Carol
    Charlie Brown Christmas
It’s a Wonderful Life…again how beautiful was Donna Reed. And James Stewart was so perfect.
So, I hope for a great 2024 for you and yours

  12. As an animal lover who is owned by dogs, I feel with you. I hope your cat recovers fully and the year 2024 will be good to all of you -two-legged and four-legged. As for reading 150 books, I am totally against it. I wish you to find one true five-star books that will keep you thinking about it even months after you read it.
Maybe I am just jealous because I can’t (yet) make time to watch TV and/or read that many books. Maybe one day, when I get sicker (which could happen) or older (which will happen) or if I retire (which I should in a few years.)

    Happy New Year Kymber!

    1. Thank you so much for your kind words. Happy New Year to you and your family, 4-legged friends included. 🙂

I know what you mean about how many books to read. I crave to find books that I can’t wait to finish, but then regret finishing. lol I hope that makes sense.
