Halloween Fun!

Halloween at the Hawkes was so much fun! Where I live, you might have to shovel snow and mow the grass in the same day. LOL

It was a cold day, but really nice outside. Until it was time for trick or treating. Then it began to snow. And snow. And snow.

As the above cartoon illustrates, in Michigan, you either make the Halloween costumes to fit over a snowsuit, or you label the children’s coats. LOL

Everyone came to our house as usual. It was beyond lovely to have the whole family together.

Katy and Jody-Bear

Here is our little Jody-Bear with Katy-Lady. Yes, I have nicknames for everyone.

There was a small dispute between Jody’s parents on whether he was a gator๐ŸŠ or a dinosaur๐Ÿฆ–.

(I’m sitting in the chair behind them with both girls in my lap and a pile of books.)

LillyAnne

Lilly was fascinated by the snow. She remembers last year it didn’t snow.

LillyAnne

I asked Lilly what she was, and she said, “I’m a bamfire!” She meant vampire.๐Ÿง›

She then proceeded to ask if we had any fake blood (because bamfires bite people), or fake bamfire teeth. lol

Lyra

Lyra was a witch๐Ÿงน, but much to her despair, her hat kept falling off. As you can see, she got over it fast.

Lyra

Lyra explaining how excited she is. ๐Ÿ˜€ She will be 3 in just a few days and we’re attending a tea party for her on Sunday.

I hope your Halloween was a happy one, too!

I had intended on publishing the next chapter in Old Stone today, but it’s not ready yet. There is more I want to do with it. Stay tuned, though! ๐Ÿ™‚

Thank you so much for reading, writing, lurking, and commenting! I appreciate you and I hope this weekend finds you well.

  1. Thank you for sharing your Halloween with your family!!.. can tell by the smiles that everyone enjoyed themselves and had a wonderful time together…โ€œTo me there is no picture so beautiful as smiling, bright-eyed, happy children; no music so sweet as their clear and ringing laughter.โ€ ( P. T. Barnum)… ๐Ÿ™‚

Hope life is all you wish for it to be with you and your family and until we meet again…
    May your day be touched
by a bit of Irish luck,
    Brightened by a song
    in your heart,
    And warmed by the smiles
    of people you love.

    1. Thank you so much. ๐Ÿ™‚ It was a wonderful Halloween. With everyone’s busy lives, it’s nice to have an evening where we can all come together for some fun. ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Hi Kymber, the photographs are adorable. Interestingly enough, we had freezing weather (by southern African standards) for spring over Halloween. Our lake was steaming as the outside cold hit the hot water.

    1. Thank you so much. ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m glad you enjoyed the photos. Wow! Your weather sounds pretty unpredictable, too. ๐Ÿ˜€ That would be cool to see the steam rising from the lake.

  3. Oh my goodness Kymber, these are some precious photos girlfriend. ๐Ÿ“ธ What a beautiful family you have. Looks like you all had oodles of fun! Love the costumes and those priceless smiles that warmed my heart, oh my, what can I say? Thanks so much for sharing Chickie Pie! Hugs and smooches to all of you! ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿ’ž๐Ÿ˜

    1. Thank you so much, gf. ๐Ÿ˜€ I’m so glad you enjoyed the photos. We did have so much fun. It’s nice when everyone can get together at the same time. Hugs and smooches back at ya’!

      1. There you go Chickie Pot Pie. Celebrate every chance you get. You don’t need a special occasion to do it either! Hugs and plenty of smooches! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿ’ž๐Ÿ˜Š Cheers to a FANtabulous weekend! ๐ŸŒž

          1. Girlfriend, you really know how to bring a huge smile to my face. This was quite a busy weekend, but now I am playing catchup!!! Yikes! ๐Ÿ˜œ Hugs and smooches! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿฅ‚๐Ÿฅฐ๐ŸŒบ๐ŸŒž

            1. I’m so glad I made you smile, chickie! I understand playing catch up. It’s not easy, and I’m doing some of that myself. ๐Ÿ˜€ I hope you have a great week, you fantabulous you!

  4. Halloween is for them. The little ones can go around dressed like one of their dreams and truly live a fantasy. A great tradition and a great holiday. Your kids look so happy!

    1. You are so right about Halloween being for the children. I couldn’t agree more. It gives them an opportunity to explore their dreams. I’m glad you think the kids look happy. I think they are. ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Thank you, Kim. I’m so glad you enjoyed seeing the kids in their costumes. ๐Ÿ™‚ Ooooh, I avoid the camera like the plague! LOLOL Maybe someday.

Yes, I call them “the Littles,” and they are our grandchildren. Our daughter Katy is the one holding the baby gator (or dinosaur?) up. lol

  5. What a wonderful post, Kymber. I love the photos and the “bamfire.” LOL. My nephew use to call popsicles “poskittles.” 35 years later we still call them poskittles. My bet is that the bamfires will be a lasting contribution to your family’s vocabulary. Glad you had a fun Halloween.

    1. I think you’re right about “bamfires,” Diana. LOL I love that, “poskittles.” I’m glad that word is still used in your family. What great memories it must bring up whenever one of you says it.

Our son used to call the TV remote a “merote,” and to this day, we still all call it that. lol

    1. LOL. Thank you, Jan, I think they’re pretty special. ๐Ÿ˜€ The first time I ever went to Texas, I was a teenager and it snowed. It wasn’t sticking to the ground much, but I was flabbergasted because it seemed no matter where I went, snow followed. lol ๐Ÿ˜€ It hasn’t snowed any other time I’ve been there.

      I’m glad you laughed. ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€

    1. That sounds like a lovely way to end the evening. We ordered pizza because everyone was coming at different times, but that would have been easy to do with soup, as you did, too.

By the time the trick or treaters got back, there was a couple of inches of snow on the ground.
