BONUS POST: Otto Isn’t Fooled

Otto Seaforth was a powerful man, most importantly, in his own mind. He ran the Neptune Foundation, The Inheritance, and many things on the side most knew nothing about. He clawed his way up from the dregs of society, and bit by bit, became the man he was today. No one was more capable than he of heading such wealthy, and influential companies.

Married three times, no woman could ever measure up to his high standards. As soon as they became simpering weaklings he could no longer stand the sight of, or they provided him with defective offspring, they were shown the curb.

He knew the woman of his dreams was out there; he even thought he found her a few times, only to suffer disappointment again. The fault was never his, the women were experts at hiding their inadequacies until he was too invested to turn back.

Anyway, as he often said to whoever was standing nearby, he was more handsome and suave than anyone he knew. The next possibility was certainly around the corner.

As he put the finishing touches on the document he was working on, a smile of satisfaction hovered on his lips. Another deal done, even more money flowing in. He took risks, but they were always worth it.

Before closing out the computer, he followed the routine of deleting his recent activity. He knew if the right experts ever found his hard drive, they would see every nefarious transaction. Still, he felt better knowing the average schmo wouldn’t see it.

No one was likely to ever use this computer besides him, anyway, as it was located in his secret office.

Everyone was a fool save him. Idiots… every last one of them… His enormous, genius brain could run circles around them all.

Then, his eyes narrowed as he scanned the recent activity log. An encrypted file had been copied onto a flash drive. But, he hadn’t done it.

He could feel his heart beating faster, the blood boiling his face red, his brain exploding as he continued staring at the impossible record of deceit! Who would have dared cross him?

The stolen file was about Rosetta Sprague.

Otto’s knuckles turned white as he gripped the arms of his leather chair. He knew exactly who must have done this. And, she would pay.

Notes:

I hope you aren’t too nauseated after reading Otto’s account here. LOL Thank you for tuning in! See you Saturday!

  1. I’m so sorry for my super late comment!! 😦 But I’m here, so prepare for a flood of comments in the next hours, lol! ^_^
Otto is horrible, we already knew that. But he’s also so full of himself it’s ridiculous!
I am so worried about Kara now… let’s hope he doesn’t hurt her!

    1. Thank you! And, no worries about what you call super late. 😀 I’m so glad you’re here. ❤❤ Bring on the flood!

Oh, yes, Otto is a complete narcissist, it’s true. I know a few narcissists, one in particular, and, to me, they are the worst type of people to get tangled with.

      1. Ooof, I agree – I’ve read tons of horror stories about them (not sure if I ever met one). And the weird part is that they seem perfectly normal – even pleasant and charming – to people outside of their families!

    1. Thank you, Caz 🙂 I think you’re right about Otto. I know I wouldn’t to mess with him. LOL @ the fingerprinting kit in his desk drawer! Let’s hope not. 😀

  2. This was perfect! Although it’s bad news for Kara, I can’t help but laugh. The attitude in this little chapter…this guy!! You captured his arrogance so incredibly well in so few words.

  3. Ha! You didn’t respond to my comment because I’d gotten close, but not for the right reasons. LOL I suspected something would give their trespass, but it surprisingly wasn’t the keys. That is what I thought would give them away. Oh you are a stinker. Lot’s of suspense with this one. I don’t like this man, but… it looks like he met his match with Rosetta or vs.

    1. Thank you, Jo! 😀 I responded but for some reason, some people aren’t getting notified when I respond. It’s so weird. I’m going to have to talk to JetPack about that or something. 😀

Guessing the keys would give her away was a sound thought. Who knows if they’re even hung up in the same order now?

I know I am a stinker. hahahahaha 😀 I think you’re right that Otto met his match. 😀

  4. And the other shoe drops. Oh, dear. It’s a shame that Kara wasn’t able to cover her tracks better (only grabbing the one file was a huge misstep) but we wouldn’t be sitting here wondering and worrying if she had. Otto is going to be trouble with a capital T. I’m wondering if he had something to do with Rosetta no longer being around .. wouldn’t surprise me in the least. But pride goeth before a fall and Otto has pride in spades.

    1. Thank you, Addy 🙂 I think you’re right that Otto probably wouldn’t have noticed if several files had been copied as opposed to just the one on Rosetta. As for him being the reason Rosetta is still not around, that is an excellent question. I like your pride comment; how true!

  5. Ohhhh, Otto would make a great President. I think the top requirement for the job is to be a diabolical self absorbed ass clown. Otto seems to be the poster boy for that. With all those defective children and exes running around, his hush money budget must be huge. I suspect Otto is going to get a hard spanking well earned.

    1. Haha! Thank you 😀 Otto is definitely the poster boy. You’ll find out soon just how deep the hush money budget goes. lol His punishment can’t come too soon.

  6. Holy crap! Otto is one sick puppy, isn’t he? Man, he is creepy! He is just as crazy as Allen Clayton but in a very, very different way. I’m so worried for Kara now. She thought she was being so careful, but she probably doesn’t know enough about computers to know how to really cover her tracks. I’m really worried about what he’s going to do to her. She’s going to need lots and lots of protection now.

    1. Thank you, Sharon 🙂 He would fit right in with the Clayton Bros, I think. lol You’re right in that Kara thought she covered her tracks, but she’s not computer savvy at all. You have good reason to worry.

  7. Ha, guess who’s my new least favourite character after Audrey’s Avery kicked the bucket? 😛 Booo, Otto sucks. I’m worried for Kara. 🙁 Thankfully, she’s smart and I have no doubt she’ll kick his nasty butt in her own way. 😉

    1. Thank you, Louise 🙂 I will take that as a compliment that he’s a runner up to Avery 😀 You have good reason to worry about Kara, that’s true. Hopefully, she’ll do just as you said. 😀

  8. GASP! And DANG IT! Kara thought she was being so clever, but she doesn’t have a devious mind and certainly never could have, like Otto Seaforth. Worried!

    1. Thank you, Bee 🙂 Otto is something else, I tell ya’. lol But you’re right about Kara. She thought she was so careful in her snooping.
