Happy timezones, friends! Today, I am honored to bring you the interview I recently conducted with Katie of Sims Addict Junkie
(formerly Kater Creations). Katie has written many stories and even has a YouTube channel with “Let’s Plays” she has created.
One of her better-known stories is called, “Hopeless for Autumn,” which you may be familiar with. Katie has also delved into writing short stories. There is something for everyone to discover here!
Shall we get started?
How long have you been playing The Sims and what got you into it? I start playing 16 years ago. I was babysitting my youngest niece. My sister-in-law had The Sims on PlayStation 2. I wasn’t sure what the game was, but it looked fun. I ended up staying up all night playing the game. I moved onto The Sims 2 for PlayStation and PC. I still have all my of discs for the PC.
Why did you begin blogging your sims story? I was already following a few people on here. I started to post my stories and other stuff on here. I used to be big into blogging when MySpace was alive. After MySpace died, I stop blogging. I do enjoy blogging. I have a second page for random stuff.
How do you come up with your story ideas? I get ideas from movies, book, and other people. I have a list of story ideas.
Do your sims actions help create new ideas or make the story go in a different direction then you had intended? Yes they help me with new ideas.
Which character is your favorite and why? I have a few that are my favorite. Harmony was my first Sim I created with The Sims 3. I have her backed up on their site. She cannot be download by anyone else but me. Mary-Ann is another favorite Sim of mine. They are both the sweetest Sims. Mary-Ann’s daughter is my 3rd favorite Sim.
What chapter has been the most difficult to write so far, and why? Mary-Ann’s story has been the hardest for me. I have this idea and a way I want the story to go, but it’s not going the way I want.
Is there anything you wish was different about your story? My grammar. lol . Wish I was better at writing than I am. I do use spell check a lot.
Do you have advice for any other writers who may just be starting out? Keep doing what you love and don’t let other people tell you that it sucks.
What are the challenges of bringing your characters to life? Giving them a back story. I am to give too much details sometimes.
Would you like to share an excerpt from your story or a summary of your story? Or both? I have a summary page.
Thank you so much, Katie, for such a lovely interview! I really appreciate it!
