I am so lucky to have had the privilege of interviewing another blog author! This time, we get to pick the brain of The Kingston Legacy writer, Lila Remonn.
Lila is currently writing Generation 3 which stars an extremely interesting character, Cherry Kingston. Lila’s pictures are amazingly creative and so is her writing. Cherry’s story is realistic and keeps you on the edge of your seat, craving more.. From the moment you begin reading, you will be drawn into a fascinating story!
So, here we go!
Lila, how long have you been playing The Sims and what got you into it?
I got my first copy of Sims 3 for Christmas two years ago, but I had been wanting it for ages before that because my friend down the street had it plus all the expansion packs, and I went over to her house all the time. My parents didn’t let me have it till I was 14 because of the M rating lol. The thing that probably made me obsessed with the game was the complexity of the game- there are so many things to discover and do, and I probably haven’t found all the secrets yet still!
Why did you begin blogging your sims story?
Like many legacy writers, the first legacy I ever read was The Seraphine Legacy; the only one which has been completed to ten generations, I think! I also read the Alice and Kev story, the homeless one, and I thought it looked so fun to create a story based on Sims. Back then I had already been writing (or rather, starting) lots of stories and it posed as a really good chance to improve my writing skills. It’s proved to be a super good choice!
How do you come up with your story ideas?
No. I used to do that all the time in Generation One but what happens right now is I plan out pretty much every single detail in my pictures, right down to my Sims outfits. I write everything out before taking pictures, so sometimes I make custom poses for different scenes. I use poses for every shot so I pretty much don’t do any gameplay in Sims anymore, I’m just posing my Sims and taking pictures lol. 😅
Which character is your favorite and why?
I’ve written so many chapters I can’t remember. I think it could possibly be 2.14 when one of the characters dies.
Is there anything you wish was different about your story?
I really dislike the first generation. The writing makes me cringe, the pictures and sims are really bad, and the story is boring. I would love to restart. But then again, it’s good to see how I’ve improved over time, I guess…
No matter what writer’s block comes your way, don’t ditch your story! I don’t know how many times I’ve gotten writer’s block, but every time I’ve pushed through and the legacy gets better each time.
What are the challenges of bringing your characters to life?
Would you like to share an excerpt of your story or a summary of your story? Or both?
This is an excerpt from Chapter 3.1:
A freak.
Because I don’t give a shit.
Oh, Cherry dear, you would have been so beautiful if not for the fire! is what my relatives like to say whenever they see me. They would give me a tiny shake of their head and a sad, searching look, as if imagining a laughing, unblemished, whole me in my footprints. Well, excuse me. That Cherry doesn’t exist. I’m here and I’m standing here and I’m listening to your half-ass attempt to cover up the fact that you wish That Cherry exists instead of me. Thank you so much for your damn consideration. I don’t need it.
I can only stand it when my Mom does it, but only because I think she got the worst of the fire, even though she wasn’t physically touched by the flames. I have faint memories of a playful, kind Mom whose violet eyes sparkled whenever she saw her children. She used to wear this funny purple panda pompom hat over her dark hair, one that I liked to play with as a toddler. She would give us all hugs and smile at us when we told her about the adventure we had in the garden. I remember the soft wool of her sweater that smelled of lavender, how I loved all the stories she told me about vampires and werewolves and fairies, how I was always her favorite even though she tried to be fair to all of us, because I was the sweetest and the quietest.
That Mom and That Cherry are both gone now.
