Chapter 4.21: Dear Diary, This Girl’s on Fire

xalen marty marriage certifiateDear Diary, well, there it is, the proof that I really got married! It’s funny to look back on it and think about how it almost never happened.

What a time we had…

2 (2)

The sun was shining, the birds were singing. It was a gorgeous day in May. My wedding day.

Momma, Daddy, and Susan were the only members of my family who could make it. Grandpa Leo and Grandma Leela wanted to come but they were getting quite up there in age so they didn’t travel anymore. My other siblings all had their reasons… the flu, couldn’t leave the farm… that kind of thing.

It was all right, though. While I missed all my brothers and sisters, I was happy that my parents could be there.

Where was I?

Oh yes, the bright sunny day blah, blah, blah.

It was the best kind of weather for a wedding, true. But as I gazed at myself in the mirror, it all went gray.

Why? Because I realized I had a fresh zit on my right cheek! Noooooooo! My skin hardly ever broke out. What was I going to do? Could I fix it with makeup? This was ghastly!

Quickly, I loaded some foundation on my blending thingy and covered it as best as anyone could who only knew how to apply makeup because of a YouTube video.

As I stared at my reflection, the blemish sufficiently covered, I hoped no one would notice. Maybe you could only see it if you were looking for it now. Maybe.

The only way to know was to ask Momma and Susan.

Untitled collage.png

Stepping out into the hallway, everything was strangely quiet. I didn’t hear the twins speaking their secret language to one another or Susan wondering if she should wear the gloves she bought or not. There was no smell of coffee or the sounds of Momma and Daddy in the kitchen where they liked to sit at the table and chat.

OMG was I in The Twilight Zone? Had I been whisked away to some strange dimension where I was the only person left on the planet?

Shaking my head, I had to wonder what was wrong with me. All I could come up with were wedding day jitters. That had to be the reason for my runaway imagination.

But seriously, where was everyone?

I took the next few moments to look outside. The limo was gone! Without me! Hurriedly, I checked the clock in the kitchen to find I’d been in the bathroom staring at my zit much longer than I thought.

If the limo was gone and the time on the clock was right, it meant everyone left for my own wedding without me! How could they have forgotten the bride?

I was late for my own nuptials!

Feeling more than desperate, I found my purse, grabbed my keys and jumped into my car in the garage….. only to find the battery dead.

This could not be happening!

Running back inside, I pulled out my phone. What does one do when one is the bride and cannot get to her own wedding? I called the cab company to no avail. All their cars were out. I told them to come get me anyway even though by the time they got to me, my wedding ceremony would be over.

Nervously, I paced for a moment before heading outdoors. Someone somewhere would help me, they just had to!

A firetruck was slowly coming down my street. Precariously, I jumped into the middle of the road, flagging it down. It slowed, then came to a stop inches away from me.

Without thinking, I climbed onto the step and grabbed the nearest handle.

“Lady, what are you doing?”

“I need to get to the Dewhurst immediately!”

“Are you crazy?”

“Yes! I think I must be!” And then I explained the entire situation to the two firefighters inside the truck.

They spoke amongst themselves for what seemed ages and I heard phrases like “we were just driving around anyway,” “this is insane,” and “it’s her wedding, though.”

Finally, one of the men yelled out the window, “Hold on, Lady! We’ll get you to your wedding!”

I gripped the bar tightly as the truck lurched forward.

At first, I was a little scared as we flew past buildings.

Then, it seemed kind of fun.

Better than fun!

Downright exciting!

Suddenly, my apprehension was a thing of the past and I was waving back at people who had noticed me as we drove by.

I felt like I was in a parade!

When we pulled up to the Dewhurst, Xalen was already outside and on his phone, probably trying to call me and find out where I was. As soon as he saw me, he dropped his phone right on the ground and began running.

As he lifted me from the truck runner and brought my feet safely to the ground, I could see the worry in his eyes. I quickly thanked the firemen and invited them to stay but they were on the clock and had to leave.

Then, I covered Xalen’s eyes and brightly said, “You’re not supposed to see my dress!”

He tried to move his face around my hand so he could look at me and I moved my hand in time with him so he couldn’t see.

“I thought you left me at the altar!” he finally exclaimed. “What are you doing on a firetruck?”

“They were just passing by the house and I hopped on board!” I laughed.

“Only you, Marty,” Xalen said, laughing now, too.

The wedding took place immediately (mostly because everyone was starving by then).

I couldn’t help but notice that Daniel, who was the best man, kept giving Susan, my maid of honor, googly eyes.

Not that she wasn’t giving googly eyes back. These two have seemed to really hit it off and I expect them to announce their own nuptials sometime soon.

Our guest list was rather small but even so, most of them had left before I arrived. I couldn’t blame them for the entire affair began so much later than it was supposed to.

Anyway, the most important people stayed… Owen and Shelly…

… Daddy and Momma (who hogged the twins most of the night!).

Finally, I was united completely with the man I adored and loved. He was regarding me now with eyes so full of devotion, I could have cried.

Someone started some music (our DJ had left hours ago) and the party began, which brought a smile to both my husband and me.

Susan and Daniel wasted no time in pairing off and I thought again about what a lovely couple they made.

Momma and Daddy ate and fed the twins before heading out to the dance floor.

Holden and Rosetta watched us all for a while, then decided they could dance as well together as anyone else. I also noticed for the first time, they weren’t wearing the clothes I’d picked out for them. Instead of getting annoyed, though, that my kids looked like they’d just come from a backward farm in Winchester, I smiled because I knew Momma had made those outfits. As dated as they were, it was a piece of home that I welcomed.

Sticking out your tongue helps you do everything better, you know.

Sticking out your tongue also makes your brother laugh!

As we slow danced, we took turns gazing at our children and their antics.

Xalen had serious things on his mind, though.

“What are you thinking?” I softly asked as I enjoyed the feel of his arm around my waist.

“I was thinking about how resigned I was to remain a bachelor all my life. Never did I entertain the idea of marriage. For one thing, I was certain no one would ever understand The Inheritance.”

“And then you met me,” I said with a smile.

“And then I met you,” he repeated before kissing me.

If Xalen felt blessed, I believed with all my heart that I was doubly so.

Look at these monsters dancing to fast music!

This was a day that would be forever imprinted in my heart and memory.

Author’s Note: I would like to give a shoutout to Bee (Poses by Bee & Stories by Bee) because she really came through for me with her firetruck poses and also the poses of the twins dancing. Be sure to check out her pose site. You will find a lot of detail in everything she makes. Also, her story is beyond awesome, too! Thank you so much, Bee!

Shout out to LilSim Sapphire (Lil’s Creative Corner), too, who fixed one of the pics for me. There was a hole in little Rosetta’s dress in one of them and she touched it up very nicely! Thank you, Lil!

Oh my goodness! I love Marty and her crazy ideas so much. I almost thought we would not be seeing more of them as she got older and the twins were born, but I am so glad I was mistaken! But are those heels, Marty, I hoped you would wear your favorite boots for the wedding, haha!
I have to be honest here, I searched for Marty’s zit, but no matter how much I
    and stared
    and stared
I could not see it! LOL
I love Bee and her poses, she is amazing and soo talented! I still am thankful for the wonderful struck by lightning pose pack she made for me. You two make such a good team with your ideas and her talent at pose-making that helps make your ideas come to life! I also love both your stories so much! 😀

LOL Thank you, Jowita! 😀 You know, I had her in the boots but there was so much clipping with the dress, I had to nix that idea. It’s unfortunate because it would have made it perfect if she had them on. 😀

Marty isn’t going to let children stop her from the zaniness! LOL Poor Xalen, he was killing me. I think he was surprised by the firetruck thing… but not too surprised. haha

I thought it was hilarious that just as Marty was touching her face like that in the mirror, I snapped a pic. It looked just like she had found a blemish! haha

That struck by lightening pose pack is so amazing! And the way you made the gif was really cool, too! I definitely couldn’t have done this chapter without Bee. I especially loved the expression she put on Marty’s face.

P.S. I love your story, too!

Noo, it’s sad you couldn’t go for the boots.
I love this mirror animation, too. Actually, when Sims go through midlife crisis, they constantly run to the mirror and do an autonomous interaction of “searching for wrinkles”. I find it hilarious.
It was! Again, Bee’s so talented.
Aww, thank you so much ❤

What a wedding!! ❤ ❤ The firetruck scene was amazing! How did everyone forget about her, the bride?! Lol! But this shows how Marty does not need anyone's help, she's perfectly capable of handling the most bizarre situations! 😀
Xalen looked so handsome in his suit, and Daniel is such an attractive man! Marty and Susan looked so lovely as well… and the twins! Adorable! ❤ ❤

Thank you so much, sempreviva! I’m so glad you liked how this went! haha Yes, how did they forget about the bride? LOL They must have been distracted with the kids or something. I like what you said about Marty not needing anyone’s help. You are so right about that!

I’m still laughing, ever since you told me what you planned to do and I pushed my way into the chapter. I think the chapter looked great! Really, can you imagine any of Marty’s family forgetting her? No and that is why the chapter is awesome!

@loladiamond, I love your story too!

LOL! Thank you, Bee! You pushed your way in? I thought I dragged you in! hahaha 😛 Really, you brought this chapter to life and I can’t tell you how much I appreciate it.

I’m so glad it made you laugh. I wanted this to be funny. 😀

What’s the story reason for her family leaving her at home and not saying anything? Was the clock she checked actually wrong? I just can’t imagine her parents not shouting out to Marty to hurry up. Also, I think that’s really cute that her middle name is her mom’s first name. My first name is my mom’s middle name. I feel like it might have been mentioned before that her middle name was Blue, but I might not have been paying close enough attention. My memory is also bad, lol. One last thing, I really like the black and white photos in the beginning of the chapter and the empty house shots, it gave me this eerie feeling.

Thank you so much! ❤ Well, I'll tell you… they were so busy with the twins and they did call out to her to hurry up. In their distraction, and because they were now late themselves, they told the limo driver to get a move on. Then, they're at the Dewhurst looking for her. Did you see her? Was she in the limo? That's how distracted they were. haha This happened to me in real life once. We were supposed to go see someone (a neighbor that we were walking to) and my mom decided to use the bathroom before we left. So, my sister and I were wearing our coats and hats and my dad decided to entertain us, he would build a house with us out of these little lego type bricks we had. We built the entire thing, windows and all when my sister asked where our mom was? Dad thought she must still be in the bathroom, but mom walked in the door from outside. She left without us, thinking we had followed her but we didn't even see her leave. LOL

I don't know if I mentioned Marty's middle name before or not but I'm glad you like that it's Blue. I thought it was fitting since that was Blue's first daughter, to give her that name. 🙂 That's awesome that your first name is your mom's middle name. ❤

I'm so glad you liked the B&W photos at the beginning! I worked really hard on those since I only wanted Marty's reflection to be in color. I'm so glad you like them.

Gaaaah! The pictures in this!! Loooooved that header image! I never knew she could smile so pretty! 😀 And the black and whites with the splash of color? Beautiful!

Oh poor thing with a zit on wedding day!! But…everyone seriously left?? But, why? LOL I don’t understand!

Susan looked great. I see she’s skinny again, but she looks healthy! Googly eyes were cute lol.

I swear, the Larochettes get more gorgeous (and younger looking!) the older they get! Wow!

    Stinkin cute kiddos!!

Thank you so much, Jes2G! 🙂 I’m so glad you loved the pics. I’m trying to pay more attention to them and work on them more than I have in the past.

Yes, they left. hahaha Logically, it makes not sense, this is true, but they were so distracted and running late, it was a huge oversight. LOL

I love Susan so much and in game, she only has eyes for Daniel, so that’s going really well for them both. He is completely smitten. lol

I can’t wait for you to see these two monsters all grown up. lol 😀

Oh my gosh what a disastrous start! Everything that could wrong went wrong 😂 I agree with Raymond about how I thought she was dreaming at first- the classic being late nightmare! And people left the wedding?! It might have started late but still, that’s rude!
But Marty pulled it together, of course. That firetruck sure was a hilarious but very Marty entrance!
The twins are so cute, especially little Rosetta!
What a fun chapter ❤️ It was a very unique wedding post. I mean, rarely do weddings in real life go perfectly anyway!

LOL! Ain’t that the truth. 😀 It could have very well been a dream – I mean it could have worked out that way. I had a recurring nightmare before my wedding that all my bridesmaids showed up in pukey yellowish-green dresses. Gag. lol

You know how sims are when they’re guests… they only stick around as long as they feel like it. haha They seriously left before I could get Marty there. Sim timing. LOL

I’m so glad you thought the firetruck entrance was funny. I was really hoping it would be.

I’m also glad you love the twins (especially Rosetta). lol They are so cute in game. I can’t wait for you to see them grown up!

What a fun chapter!! And no wonder Daniel was looking at Susan like that, did you see that dress??? Wow! Marty and Xalen belong together, they balance each other beautifully. The poses were awesome, and I love the little outfits on the twins! What made you think of that?? ♥ I agree about the boots, but heck, she can wear them on the honeymoon! I thought she was dreaming at first, too, but I guess she was so busy ‘hiding’ her zit, she didn’t notice everyone was leaving!! Definitely a Marty thing! Can’t wait until next week!! =D

Thank you so much, Marj! 🙂 I’m so glad you thought this was a fun chapter. Susan’s dress was killer on her, I’ve got to admit. lol

What made me think of that? Well, I get weird ideas and sometimes they work, sometimes they don’t. haha ❤

The boots would have pulled it all together, for sure. I wish there hadn't been so much clipping with them.

Awe, I loved this! Only Marty can arrive to her own wedding riding a fire engine!!!
And it was so nice to see Blue & Matt, and the twins are just too cute for words!!
And thank you for the chapter title. That song will be in head all day now. 🙂

Thank you so much ❤ I'm glad you enjoyed this. That's exactly what I was shooting for: an entrance only Marty could make. hahaha

I couldn't manage all the sims from Marty's family again after that reunion they had at Leo's. That was so crazy! But I couldn't let Matt and Blue miss this either. It sure was a lot easier only bringing those two in. lol

      Sorry about the title! haha

Oh my gosh, this has to be my favorite chapter so far. I love Xalen and Marty even more. I love the idea of Susan and Daniel. I love the firetruck scene. I love how cute the twins are. I have so much love! 😀 Only Marty would be late to her own wedding, too!

How did they forget to bring the bride?! You had ONE JOB, guys 😛 Well, at least she made it there in time – and in style 😛
That was a lovely wedding 🙂 The two of them are so cute and Xalen gushing over how lucky is is my favourite thing.
As always: More more more! 😀 ❤

Am I the only one that now wants to know which picture had the hole in the dress?? Yeah, I’m weird that way lol

Those toddlers are so damn cute! I only twigged now that Holden is Xalen’s middle name *facepalm* don’t mind me… The brain is obviously been on a permanent vacation the last while lol.

I adored this, and it’s just so Marty to rock up to her wedding in a firetruck lol or should I say “on” a firetruck lol

I would love to know how they didn’t notice she wasn’t with them when they left the house lol “Um, guys? Guys? Bride over here waiting?!? Guys?????” Lol not as if she was the star of the show or anything lol Nah…

LOL Thank you so much, Mags ❤ The pic that had the dress with the hole in it was the one where Matt and Blue are holding the twins during the ceremony. Rosetta's dress had a gaping hole, it was awful. lol

If it makes you feel any better, my brain is almost always on vacation. LOLOLOL

I'm so glad you liked the whole firetruck thing. I was giggling as I set it all up because it just seemed so Marty.

LOL Yeah, it wasn't her day or anything. No biggie. 😛

Very artsy mirror pictures! Love it. I was so sure it was a stress dream at first though, because it’s exactly the kind of thing I worry about and I’m surprised no one was travelling with her to the venue or woke her up! But she got there in the end…
Aw, the twins dancing is so cute ❤

Thank you so much! 🙂 In this chapter in particular, I decided to spend more time on the pics. I don’t know why I didn’t try things like this sooner. I’m always afraid I’ve gone overboard (less is more kind of thing) lol.

It seems like this being a dream sequence was a popular thought and I can totally see why. Perhaps I should have thought of that. lol I guess in the end, I needed Marty to have a Marty-fied entrance. LOL

      I love those twins. ❤
