Chapter 1.7: Dear Diary, a New Beginning

Entry 7:

tryout

I know what you’re thinking. You’re wondering why it’s been so long since I’ve written anything. Well, I’ve been pretty busy, let me tell you! Liev and I are seriously dating now. I know, I can’t believe it either.

The first time he came over, I found out he loves horror movies just as much as I do! Incredible right? I love being deliciously scared. And who isn’t absolutely terrified and grossed out when they’re watching Executing a Crumbcake IV?

I know when number V comes out, we’ll be the first ones in line for tickets!

2

As it turns out, we both just love movies in general. To round out the evening, we watched Slacking with You: a Love Story. It was so funny. I might have been snorting when I laughed. But the great thing is, Liev tells me he just wants me to be myself. I can’t believe how comfortable I am in his presence. And I’m so glad the hysterical laughing didn’t make me pee my pants.

3

We can talk about anything and he’s so much fun.

I don’t know how, but I fit against him just right. As if he was made just to be there. And me for him.

Oh. Wow. I just reread what I’ve written so far and it’s either really sickeningly sappy and I’ve lost my mind, or… I might love him.

Wow. I think I love him.

I love Liev.

4

The next night, we watched an action movie called Triple Overkill. It’s not a genre we normally choose, but it had our favorite actor in it, Samuel Serendipity. I think I’d faint if I ever met him in person.

Liev kissed me goodnight and I decided to head upstairs. I didn’t want to bother Keniesha because she still had Mango over. I paused at the corner where the wall and stairs meet. How would I get up to my room without them hearing me?

I don’t know how this keeps happening to me, but I paused just long enough to understand they were not having a very pleasant conversation. Their voices weren’t noticeably loud or anything, but I could definitely tell Keniesha wasn’t happy.

5

“Have you even talked to her about it?” came Mango’s unmistakably husky voice. He was blonde and beautiful; a real athlete and perfect specimen of man, if you asked Keniesha. I wasn’t too sure what to think of him, but he was nice and that’s what mattered. Keniesha seemed to sure like him.

“How can I? She’s been through so much!”

My ears tingled at that and I felt the little hairs on the back of my neck standing up. They were talking about me. It was pretty obvious. My cheeks flamed red as I wondered what secret Keniesha was keeping from me.

6

“I know she’s been through a lot. But I don’t understand why any of that would keep you from marrying me?”

Marriage?! He had proposed and she hadn’t let on to me in any way! I bit my lower lip, forcing myself not to jump into their conversation and cause all kinds of chaos. I think my ears were red now, too, not just my face.

“You just don’t understand…. she’s fragile.”

7

Fragile! My mind sputtered and I clenched my fists. Fragile?!

“I love you, Mango. You know that. But I have to put my family first.”

I couldn’t see his face, but I could hear it in his voice… he sounded so sad. “I want to be a part of your family, too.”

“If you really love me, you won’t mind waiting a little longer,” she insisted.

Fragile? I think my brain was stuck.

8

“I’ll wait as long as I have to. I just think you should talk to her, though. I think she’d understand how you feel. I figure she’d want you to be happy.”

Keniesha sighed and I could picture her either pointing at him or putting a hand to her head like she was being so patient and his feeble mind just wasn’t getting it. (Yes, I know how this goes, Sis.) “I agree that she would want me to be happy. She would tell me she’d be fine and she’d encourage me to marry you. But don’t you see I can’t do that to her? She needs me!”

9

“You’re both adults,” he said quieter now. “Look, I respect what you’re saying. You’re really loyal and it’s one of the things that’s so hot about you.”

“But?”

There was a long pause. “I was going to put a ‘but’ on it, but I won’t do that. It wouldn’t be right.”

Who is this guy? I thought. Keniesha should marry him now! Tonight!

“I told her we had to sell our house and move. You want me to marry you and move to Storybrook County with you, though.”

“That’s what I want. You can’t believe the offer I was given to be the Team Captain of the Storybrook Fireballs.”

“And I would never ask you to forgo that offer. I know it’s a big deal. What is she supposed to do if I go with you? You don’t even know where you’re going to live yet.” Her voice became even more firm. “I’m not moving without her. That’s my final decision.”

10

I didn’t sleep all that night. All I could do was toss and turn, thinking about the proposal Keniesha had turned down on account of me. Her chance at happiness. She was right, I did want her to be happy and I would say the things she’d claimed I would.

She should tell Mango she’d made a mistake and that she would marry him and move with him. I began to fret again, wringing my hands. What would I do without her if I talked her into accepting and moving to Storybook? Where would I end up?

I couldn’t hold it in any longer. As soon as was reasonable, I called Liev. He came right over. All I could do was cry. I didn’t mean to cry, I hated myself for it, but the more I tried to control it, the worse it got.

Liev was really sweet. He didn’t ask me a million questions about what was wrong. He gently wrapped me in his arms and let me do my thing, stupid as it was.

When the waterworks had slowed down, I managed to squeak, “I’m sorry for acting this way.”

“What on earth is the matter?”

I could barely talk. I’d stopped crying, but I knew I looked an absolute mess. Well, I owed him an explanation at the least. “Keniesha thinks I’m fragile.” Why did I say that? That’s not even the problem. I began mentally kicking myself as he answered.

“Well, you are a puddle of tears right now.”

I smiled a little and playfully hit him in the shoulder. Apparently, that was what I needed in order to finally spill everything I’d overheard.

“Storybrook, huh?” He flashed me a crooked smile. “You do have a way of eavesdropping.” He held his hand up and laughed because he knew I was about to hit him again. Then he told me he thought we should get out of the house.

We should go to the beach, is what that meant. I couldn’t have agreed more.

11

We decided to go to the public area because of the amenities. It was early enough that the beach was empty. Nothing but crystal clear, blue water as far as I could see. I breathed in the saltiness of the air and held it in my lungs. I would never get tired of this place.

My thoughts were a whirlwind of confusion… Do I love Liev? Yes! I can’t hide it. I wonder if he’s noticed anything? I wonder if he feels the same way? Is it possible?

12

I kissed his cheek as the waves lapped the shore. It was so easy to feel like there wasn’t a care in the world here. His smile came easily and I road piggyback as he tromped through the hot sand.

We laughed and horsed around for a while. He always managed to put me at ease.

13

When he finally slid me to the ground, he kissed me on the forehead and said, “I don’t want you to worry about Keniesha and Mango.”

“How can I not worry?”

He kissed me again and then lifted my face to his so we were looking into each other’s eyes. “How do you feel about me? About us?”

My heart screamed at me to tell him how much I loved him. But I had to contend with my stupid brain. It was putting on the brakes, reminding me that I didn’t want to make a fool of myself if he didn’t feel the same way.

“B-because I really want a life with you, Memphis. I want that more than anything. I have to leave soon and go back to work. But I don’t want to leave without you. So, how do you feel about me?”

14

I couldn’t hold back now. “I love you, too, Liev.”

“I want to marry you, but I want to propose to you in a special way when you’re not expecting it.”

“I want to marry you too,” I gushed. The familiar panic didn’t set in. There was no mistaking that this was the right thing to do. “And now Keniesha can marry Mango and move to Storybrook.”

Liev laughed a little.

“What’s so funny?”

“If you marry me, you’ll be living in Storybrook, too.”

“What? Is that where you’re from?”

“Born and raised. It’s a big place and Mango is going to finally make the Fireballs a winning team!”

15

Now I knew nothing could spoil this day. I was in love and that person was actually in love with me, too. My sister and I were going to move, but we were both going to be married and move to the same city.

16

“Just one thing,” I mumbled as I rested my head on Liev’s back.

“Name it.”

“Hands. Off the butt.”

17

Keniesha was thrilled when I called her and explained the new developments. She and Mango were going to meet us at the beach. We roasted marshmallows while we waited for them.

“I guess that means my sister and Mango are engaged now.”

Liev nodded and smiled. “That’s great!” He had taken his eyes off of the marshmallows just long enough for them to burn. I laughed when he took a big bite of one. He shrugged. “I like them that way.”

My eyes were probably as big as saucers. “I do, too!”

Licking his fingers and grinning, he said, “So, Storybrook has really good schools and nice neighborhoods. The city is close enough to where I live that we can do some really fun things, too.”

Thinking about it, I had to smile with him. It sounded wonderful. I’d miss the beach, but Liev said that there were beaches in Storybrook. He added that I’d experience winter for the first time and that the beaches were great in the summer. He wanted to learn to scuba dive. Sounded like fun, actually.

“How many kids do you want?”

That took me by surprise, but I guess it’s something we needed to discuss at some point. I shrugged. “I don’t know. An even number, I think. I like even numbers.”

“We’re going to have a houseful of red-headed, freckled kids.”

18

This was the best day I’ve ever had. That’s why I had to write this all down tonight, as soon as I got home, Journal.

Moving, marriage, children… it was all happening so fast, it made my head spin. But I felt in my soul that this new beginning was going to be a great one for all of us.

  1. Oh boy, everything worked out so perfectly that I know something is going to ruin it all T_T

Well, at least they had this day!

I really enjoy your writing and the journal style, it’s very smooth!

    • Thank you. 🙂 I’m sure they’ll have their challenges, but for the most part, I think they’ll be happy. Storybrook really is a nice world. 🙂

  2. First I want to apologize for taking to so long to comment. I have not been in the best space mentally. I love Memphis’ diary entries so much. Keniesha is a good sister and she is concerned for Memphis welfare, I understand that, but Memphis is a big girl now. I’m so happy she found happiness with Liev. I love these pics as well. Is this Sunlit Tides? I moved all of my main Sims to that world a few years ago. Great chapter!

    • Thank you so much for your comment. 🙂 There’s no need to apologize. I’m not planning on deleting my site which means you can find earlier things through that.

I can’t tell you how glad I am that you brought this situation with Keniesha and Memphis up! I think if there is ever a fracture in their relationship, it might be because of this situation.

Yes, they are in Sunlit Tides. It’s such a pretty world., I think. 🙂

    • Thank you so much! 😀 I’m so glad you like how this has turned out so far for Memphis. At the time, I wasn’t ready to let go of Keniesha so it only seemed right the sisters stayed together.

  3. Where can I find a guy like Mango? And Liev? XD
Both guys are so understanding and supportive of their girls, and they are from the same city – how perfect!
I hope everything works out for Memphis and Keniesha, they deserve happiness.
p.s I love the fictional names you come up for things like movies, team names, etc. (Like the fading finger disease from last chapter) It’s so creative and adds a little extra fun into reading the story 🙂

    • LOL It adds a little fun in writing it all, too. haha I’m glad you like that. 😀

I really wanted the close family for Memphis’ sake, so I couldn’t see the sisters splitting up and going their own ways just yet.

  4. Awww… This was really sweet. I love seeing Memphis fall in love. Looking forward to what happens in Storybrook (which reminds me of Once Upon a Time, which makes me wish fairy tale stuff happens).

    • That’s such a cool thought. I wish I had put that together at the time. But I didn’t make the name of the world up myself so it’s a coincidence, unfortunately. I hope you enjoy their adventures there. 🙂

  5. Awwww they’re so cute, Liev is such a sweetheart!! <3 And both sisters are going to live in the same town, that's a great development! 🙂 But when I see so much happiness in a story I can't help but worry a little of what the future holds..!

  6. I want to say it’s cool that Memphis had black parents. Nice change. My son and his wife adopted a black son, so that will be an interesting development as well. They have two children of their own and their new son is only two months older than their oldest boy. Like twins.

      • Yes, however these kids don’t know when enough is enough they have hearts as big as Texas. They have four kids, three dogs and now a pig. They need a farm, I tell them. Another child is a foster child as well. They’d have more if they could.

  7. OMG their faces on that first pic hahahha Extincting a Crumbcake hahahhaa die your crumbs die before you bring in the ants!!!!!!!
Yes Mango and Kenish are getting Marries and soon Memphis and Liev will be to great chapter. full of happy happy and not worry.

  8. Weeeeee! This is so exciting. Man…why do I even attempt to read just ONE of these while I’m at work lol. That’s it for now. Can’t wait to get back to this.

  9. That chapter was so sweet! I’m so happy for Memphis! I guess they both will be getting married and moving to Storybrook.
Oh and sorry if my likes don’t come through, seems my computer is being stubborn.

    • No worries! Before I got the computer I’m on, there were many times I wanted to throw my computer right out the window! haha I’m so glad you liked this chapter! Thank you so much for reading and commenting!

  10. I’m so happy for Memphis and Liev… and for Keniesha and Mango, too, although I think Memphis would be just fine without her sister. It’s going to be fun to follow them to their new home and see how their lives unfold now. Here’s wishing them all the best!

  11. OH I heart Stroybrook! I haven’t been able to play there since my computer crashed and I lost Peter and the kids. I’m super excited to live vicariously thought Memphis! YAY!

    • I’m so sorry your computer messed up Storybrook! It’s one of my favorite places to play, too. It was either going to be Storybrook or Fortress Rock. I like that world a lot, too. 😀 I’m glad you’re super excited! I am, too!

  12. Happy chapter, and now…they lived happily every after???? I am looking forward to Memphis learning the ropes of marriage and kids!! lol Double wedding, by the way? Lots to wait for! =)

    • I couldn’t agree more. I don’t know what Memphis would do if she and Keniesha were split up at this point in her life. But maybe Liev will help her grow and become more independent. Thank you so much for reading and commenting! 🙂

    • Thank you so much! I’ve been playing in different worlds with another family to see where I wanted to go and it was between Storybrook and Fortress Rock. I like them both. I chose Storybrook because it has absolutely everything you’d ever need in a world plus more. 😀 Thank you again for stopping by!
